4.9 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm. This piece features a RIVETING, BRILLIANTLY LUSTROUS 1.8-cm dioptase that sits perfectly exposed on chrysocolla matrix. It is doubly-terminated with both tips hanging freely for super visual display!
9.3 x 7.6 x 3.9 cm. This piece is a natural part of the environment the dioptase grows in here, with actually a cavity on each side filled with dioptase. One side you have brilliantly green, sharp crystals to 1 cm in a thin pocket. On the other, more exposed, there is a whopping huge 3 cm crystal (ingrown, but you see most of it!), along with smaller ones. The pocket shows how solutions containing the copper flooded cracks in the rock and when space allowed, dioptase crystallized out of that solution into pockets. Where space didn’t allow, you got solid dioptase fillers between the small pockets.
7.0 x 5.2 x 3.5 cm. Three clusters of highly lustrous, dark emerald-green dioptase crystals jauntily perched atop calcite-coated matrix from a MOST UNCOMMON locality - the Malpaso Quarry of Argentina. The central cluster is 1.2 cm across.
6.3 x 5.6 x 2.5 cm. Dioptase is known from a few world localities in superb quality specimens, but recently there was a find of new material in the Pool Region of the Congo. These specimens show great color, with larger sized crystals and EXCELLENT gemminess. This particular specimen is comprised of very sharp, highly lustrous, GEMMY, rich emerald green color Dioptase crystals on minor matrix forming a very attractive overall specimen. This find seemed to be somewhat limited, and hopefully will produce more of this SUPERB quality Dioptase.
4.9 x 3.5 x 2.1 cm. A beautiful and aesthetic specimen of isolated, very gemmy, emerald-green dioptase crystals to 8 mm on lustrous, off-white calcite rhombs from Tsumeb. This is the most desirable dioptase combination from Tsumeb and you can see why. Ex. George Elling Collection.
4.0 x 3.2 x 3.1 cm. VERY GEMMY, lustrous, emerald-green dioptase crystals to 8 mm aesthetically set on a matrix of powder-blue and turquoise-green chrysocolla from the Koakoveld Mine, Namibia. These dioptase crystals are as intensely gemmy as the best Tsumeb dioptase.
9.7 x 8.4 x 2.7 cm. A gorgeous and classic combination from probably the world’s single most famous mineral locality! Here you have super-sharp and pretty transparent-to-translucent rhombs of calcite accented by crystals of super-sparkly green dioptase of the most intense green color.
5.9 x 4.4 x 2.4 cm. Nice cluster of rich deep green Dioptase crystals, the largest of which is 2 cm in length. The luster is very good, and the crystal definition is good enough that you can enjoy and appreciate what is there to see. A fine rich aesthetic specimen.
10.4 x 7.7 x 4.7 cm. Dioptase is known from a few world localities in superb quality specimens, but recently there was a find of new material in the Pool Region of the Congo. These specimens show great color, with larger sized crystals and EXCELLENT gemminess. This particular specimen is comprised of very sharp, highly lustrous, GEMMY, rich emerald green color Dioptase crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm on matrix forming a very attractive overall specimen. This find seemed to be somewhat limited, and hopefully will produce more of this SUPERB quality Dioptase.
9.2 x 4.7 x 2.9 cm. A very sculptural and aesthetic Tsumeb specimen of a towering and sharp malachite after azurite crystal. Beautifully and richly sprinkled on the tower and slope below are gemmy, emerald-green dioptase crystals, translucent, off-white calcite rhombs and calcite rhombs included with dioptase.
4.1 x 3.6 x 1.8 cm. An AMAZING, DISTINCTIVE and RARE combination piece from Tsumeb of a large, 3.9 cm, lustrous, caramel-colored wulfenite crystal perched on a solid, two-sided crust of sparkly, emerald-green dioptase crystals. Ex. George Elling Collection.
3.0 x 1.8 x 1.8 cm. A SUPERB and gorgeous toenail of a banded shattuckite vug lined with beautiful, royal-blue spheres of tiny shattuckite needles and highlighted with lustrous and gemmy, emerald-green dioptase crystals from the recent and small find at the Omaue Mine, Kaokoveld, Namibia.
4.1 x 3.6 x 2.0 cm. A VERY AESTHETIC Tsumeb specimen of gemmy and lustrous, dark emerald-green dioptase crystals nicely sprinkled on a well-formed cluster of highly lustrous, translucent, whitish-gray calcite rhombs. Some of the smaller dioptases are embedded within the calcite rhombs. Ex. George Elling Collection.
3.7 x 3.7 x 2 cm. Exemplary and beautiful cluster of very fine deep-green dioptase crystals. The overall shape of the specimen is very aesthetic, and the luster on all the diptases is superb. The largest crystal is about .6 cm. The little bit of light green Malachite accents the piece nicely.
8 x 7 x 2.7 cm. Exquisite combination piece of Dioptase on Malachite, all over a lovely blue bed of Planceite. The Dioptase, several of which reach 1 cm, have superb color and excellent luster.
