A showy, sparkly specimen of classic Tsumeb diop, with pristine sharp xls of the best lustre and color to 7 or 8 mm in size. VERY nice piece, and lots of showiness for the price! These are 30 years or so out of the ground now, and they only go up in price and down in availability each year. 6.8 x 5.5 x 3.6 cm
The largest crystal on this thumber is an impressive 1.3 cm, and is complete all around. Fine "Tsumeb green" color. 3.5 x 2.2 x 1.5cm
A pocket of large, fine dioptase crystals, removed intact! This fine dioptase specimen iso much prettier in person; dioptases can just be notoriously hard to shoot. The pocket goes VERY deep, about 4 cm in. The lustrous, LARGE, Tsumeb-green crystals you see inside this pocket actually make up most of the display face - the light made them look washed out towards the edge of the pocket so it does not appear to be as open and cave-like, and full of crystals, as it is in reality. In fact, this piece is GUARANTEED to make the winner happy in person or we will happily take it back. 9.5 x 6.0 x 5.7cm
A very glassy and lustrous, dark emerald-green, 1.5 cm dioptase crystal nicely set on a matrix of smaller dioptase crystals from Tsumeb. A super-trivial edge wilbur on the upper right side is barely noticeable and the periphery damage to some of the smaller crystals is certainly not detracting. From the noted thumbnail collection of marilyn dodge 2.0 x 2.0 x 1.6 cm
An EXCELLENT and showy specimen of gemmy, emerald-green, micro dioptase crystals richly covering matrix from an uncommon Arizona locality, the Harquahala Mine. Ex Charles F. Lewis Collection via Evan Jones 7.6 x 4.1 x 2.8 cm
A striking, old-time specimen of vugs filled with tiny, emerald-green dioptase needles, some on willemite, in matrix, which includes lustrous, embedded, orange-yellow wulfenite crystals to 2.5 cm. Dioptase from the famous Mammoth Mine at Tiger is some of the most sought-after material from Arizona. The mine closed in 1953. This fine piece comes with two old labels. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 7.4 x 6.5 x 5.5 cm
A mini of SUPER-lustrous, almost wet-looking dioptase crystals of the absolute best Tsumeb green! Not found in quality and quantity here since the 80s, and going up in value like green gold ever since,….. 4.8 x 2.6 x 1.1cm
A superb thumber of Tsumeb dioptase, the crystals having the TOP color and luster - no damage, and all terminated, measuring up to one centimeter. 1.8 x 1.5 x 1.3cm
A very pretty Tsumeb specimen, a plate of very sparkly calcite crystals, some of which are included with tiny dioptase microcrystals, turning them a beautiful pastel green! Unique! 8.6 x 7.0 x 2.3cm
Gemmy 1 mm Dioptases spread liberally on a matrix of sharp .6 cm white Calcite Rhombs. Classic Tsumeb all the way, and getting harder to find! 3.6 x 2 x 1.2 cm
4.8 x 4.0 x 3.1 cm. A beautiful miniature specimen of Tsumeb dioptase - the crystals show excellent green color (which can never be capture in photos, unfortunately) and incredible luster. These crystals actually look gemmy.
Small, super-bright green crystals of dioptase (they are absolutely gemmy, examined closely) on lustrous calcite rhombs, which in turn have formed on finger-like stalactites of massive calcite. (The stalactites are not complete on the ends, as they were evidently contacting the pocket wall at both ends). These "fingers" are attractively stacked in parallel. This is a very unusual, pretty and desirable Tsumeb piece! 8.5 x 6.9 x 6.5cm
This is a specimen of bright green crystals of dioptase on a bed of white calcite, which wraps around the sides of the dioptase to provide a pretty contrast. There is a later generation of tiny, sparkly calcites on top of the dioptase as well. The dioptase crystals measure to one cm across. 5.6 x 4.3 x 3.0cm
For a Russian dioptase, this is an absolutely fabulous specimen – with the color and luster of most Tsumeb dioptases! I always thought it odd that these dioptases, from the TYPE LOCALITY no less, are always about 25% the cost of a comparable Tsumeb piece (or less). It boggles the mind. But there it is. The glamour of Tsumeb and the fact that it is done and won't be mined again for the mineral, really adds to the locality premium there. The gemmy crystals measure up to one centimeter, and richly cover the surface of a 3-dimensional matrix with pretty form, creating a wonderful display face. There is some bruising on the lower left, but this is all in context given the size and showiness of teh specimen – and with all the flash and color, the bruising doesn’t detract much visually. This is , to my mind, one of the largest and showiest dioptase specimens, with decent crystals. 11.5 x 5.5 x 5 cm
Dioptase, crowned by a fine crystal measuring 1.6 cm! Some of the crystals sit on a bed of bright dioptase microcrystals, others on the contrasting white calcite. 5 x 3.4 x 3.2 cm
