8.1 x 3.6 x 3.7 cm. Largest Dioptase Crystal: 2.5 cm. The piece is highlighted by a rather large, sharp, translucent/gemmy, INTENSE emerald green color trigonal crystal that is protruding from the front of the specimen. The rest of the specimen includes several more Dioptase crystals of excellent quality with high luster and rich color which are intermixed by accenting patches of wonderfully contrasting white Calcite. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
1.9 x 1.9 x 0.9 cm. A thumber of dioptase crystals with the intense green color and fine luster that make these Tsumeb specimens the best in the world for the species.
3.3 x 2.6 x 2.2 cm. Small but BRIGHT GREEN crystals of dioptase from the #1 worldwide locality for the species - on crystals of white calcite.
4.1 x 2.6 x 2.1 cm. This fine matrix dioptase specimen is highlighted by a shockingly freestanding, complete-all-around, large 1.5 cm crystal. The crystal is fat, too, and very equant. The crystal is glassy and gemmy with a dark, emerald green color, that glows when backlit. Ex. Dr. John Innes, Julius and Miriam Zweibel, and Stuart Strife Collections.
6 x 3 x 3 cm. This is a superb dioptase specimen for several reasons. First, the overall form of the crystals are piled up on two knobs of stark white calcite so it is much more 3-dimensional than your average specimen. The crystals have the best Tsumeb-green color and glassy luster. And the specimen can be displayed from virtually any direction. Complete save only one damaged little crystal on a side.
6.5 x 5.3 x 2.4 cm. Dioptase is known from a few world localities in superb quality specimens, but recently there was a find of new material in the Pool Region of the Congo. These specimens show great color, with larger sized crystals and EXCELLENT gemminess. This particular specimen comprises very sharp, highly lustrous, GEMMY, rich emerald green color Dioptase crystals associated with many WATER CLEAR, sharp, highly lustrous Quartz crystals on matrix forming a very attractive overall specimen. This find seemed to be somewhat limited, and hopefully will produce more of this SUPERB quality Dioptase.
3.3 x 2.6 x 0.7 cm. A plate of small dioptase crystals of the TOP gemminess, luster, and rich, deep green (which does NOT come out in the photo, as usual - but if you are familiar with Tsumeb dioptase, which is the best in the world and for which the mine is most famous, you know what we mean here).
3.0 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm. Gemmy and lustrous, emerald-green dioptase crystals to 1.1 cm are AESTHETICALLY set on a column of a drusy quartz-coated quartz crystal from the famous Reneville deposit in the Republic of Congo. This EXCELLENT combination of dioptase on quartz is RARE from this locality. Material of this quality dates to the 1950s or 60s. Ex. George Elling Collection.
13 x 8 x 6 cm. A fine and colorful specimen with deep green dioptase inclusions inside clear calcite rhombohedra. The inclusions are, unusually, oriented along several planes of the crystal such that they leave a colorless rim of clear calcite around the included areas. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
7.1 x 7.1 x 3 cm. This is a fine specimen of dioptase with unusually well-isolated crystals on sparkling white matrix of calcite (or, perhaps, the related rare species Minrecordite). The crystals reach 6 mm in size and there are several dozen present. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
8.2 x 6.8 x 4.2 cm. This is a fine specimen of dioptase with unusually well-isolated crystals on sparkling white matrix of calcite (or, perhaps, the related rare species Minrecordite). The crystals reach 1.3 cm in size! Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
6.9 x 4.3 x 3.9 cm. A very colorful, bright specimen with many dioptase crystals to 1 cm and one monster crystal measuring 2.5 cm, tip to tip, perched off one end! Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
4.2 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm. This knob of crystals is complete all around and practically glows with intense color and excellent lustre! Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
8 x 5.2 x 4.6 cm. This piece has two entirely different faces! One side features isolated, sharp individual crystals to 1 cm on Calcite. The other side features a continuous druse of sparkly, bright microcrystals on which some larger dioptase crystals are also present. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
7.0 x 3.9 x 2.2 cm. This specimen starts with a layer of crystallized clear to white calcite rhombohedra upon which sit emerald green, lustrous dioptase crystals up to 3mm; and on top of this are spherules of forest green conichalcite to 3mm. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
