5.3 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm. This is a CLASSIC, golden-yellow diaspore crystal with excellent, gemmy transparency. In person, it is almost silky, when you look at it. These elongated large crystals are old classics - none have been found in Turkey in at least decades and, this is of good size. This crystal is untwinned, which is actually rarer than the famous twins from the locality. Ex. Ed Swoboda collection. These date from the 1960s, generally.

10.0 x 4.8 x 1.9 cm. A classic aluminum-containing mineral species from a very old American locality that was so important it was mined up. The diaspore was one of the two chiefly sought after minerals at the site. The diaspore, when deeply violet colored, is superb. This specimen has some decent color to it. Note the flat-lying but clearly visible and defined crystals. From the noted W.W. Jefferis (1820-1906) Collection, and note the very early accession number of 1830 in the collection which eventually by the early 1900s numbered over 20,000 specimens. Ex. 7.0 x 3.7 x 0.8 cm. Pearlescent, highly lustrous, diaspore plates in nifty juxtaposed angles on a thin crust of matrix form a very showy specimen on this old-time piece from the Chester Emery Mines of Massachusetts. Diaspore is an uncommon aluminum hydroxide and this is highly representative of the species and famous locale. The color is very good for the material, which is rarely seen today. Comes with an old, faded, expertly handwritten label. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I.

7.1 x 3.1 x 2.1 cm. This is a huge gem crystal, read-through in clarity and transparency, of diaspore. Most collectors would consider these historic mines of Turkey to be the premiere source for gem diaspore crystals of any significance. Crystals this size, showing such clarity and this classic rich greenish-brown color, are hard to obtain.

3.6 x 0.9 x 0.6 cm. This is a classic, twinned, amber diaspore crystal, with a steep termination and excellent, gemmy transparency to it. In person, it is almost silky, when you look at it. These elongated large crystals are old classics - none have been found in at least decades. This excellent crystal has a partially broken, but healed termination.

3.8 x 2.6 x 2.3 cm. Gem diaspore from this classic old locality in Turkey sets the standard for the species. This specimen hosts a 3.7-cm crystal, doubly-terminated crystal perched in matrix of crystallized margarite. Matrix specimens are very rare for this locality. Usually these come out only as loose crystals, loose floaters perhaps.

4.3 x 3.3 x 2 cm. An exceptional specimen of the rare Manganese-rich variety of Diaspore, with large finely-bladed crystals to 2.6 cm. The piece is very rich, and the blades sit beautifully on matrix, exhibiting excellent pearly luster and a fine rose color. Ex. Charlie Key stock.

6.4 x 4.1 x 3.2 cm. Mangan-diaspore is the manganese-rich variety of diaspore and is rare worldwide. This fine old-time specimen is essentially solid mangan-diaspore in the form of highly lustrous, glassy, rose-red lathes. The lathes reach 2.8 cm on this excellent and very rich piece. Ex. Mullane Collection and accompanied by a 1960s-1970s era Burminco label. Very seldom available from this South African locale.

A stunning, twinned, crystal that has very good olive-green color, total gemminess, and glassy luster. Very good for the species and unusual in that the twinning is so tightly oriented along the c axis instead of the more common fishtail style from the locality. Gem diaspore from this classic old locality in Turkey sets the standard for the species so far as I am concerned. This specimen hosts a 3.7-cm crystal , doubly-terminated crystal perched in matrix of crystallized margarite. Matrix specimens are VERY RARE for this locality! Usually these come out only as loose crystals, loose floaters perhaps. Matrix specimens are most uncommon. This can be displayed horizontally or vertically to equal effect.
