J11-73 - Diaboleite - $ 8500 SOLD Mammoth Mine, Tiger, Mammoth District, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA small cabinet, 8 x 4 x 3.6 cm ex. Al Ordway
This specimen is a piece of significance for both species and locale. It also happens to be visually stunning. Intense azure-blue, metallic crystals to 8 mm nearly cover one long surface of the specimen. Must be seen in person to be appreciated. Although some are damaged, many are intact as well , and the sheer richness is more than I have seen on any other specimen for sale of this very rare material. Ex Al Ordway Collection (purchased from a mining engineer who collected it) - this was one of his major ten specimens, from my memories of the collection over the years. This locality has produced the best of species, and this large display quality specimen has to be among the more important survivors. Joe Budd photos

It is mounted for micro-viewing and would make a great addition to any Tiger suite, especially if you have a nice high power microscope to view the crystals. RARE08-2-83 - Caledonite with Diaboleite - $ 12500 SOLD Mammoth-St. Anthony Mine, Tiger, Pinal County, Arizona, USA miniature, 5.0 x 4.2 x 2.6 cm ex. Smithsonian Institution
The color of this caledonite is like nothing you could imagine, in person. It looks fake, like lab-grown copper sulphate but with metallic lustre. This is a frankly unbelieveable caledonite specimen of a richness I have never seen for sale on the market before. It is solid caledonite, with sharp crystals poking out all over, and with minor deeper blue Diaboleite crystals on the backside as a free bonus. It displays nicely, and presents so much stunning intense blue color that I had trouble believeing what I was looking at when I held this for the first time. My mind kept tellin gme it had to be caledonite on azurite - no caledonite could be so rich?! It is likely that this piece was mined prior to 1960. ex. American Museum of Natural History and was held since its deaccession by Larry Conklin in the Conklin Family Collection (specializing in such rarities in miiature size). It is an amazing example for the species but beyond that, an impressive, display-quality, historic US classic - its appreciably valuable from ANY angle of perspective in terms of history and significance and aesthetics, in other words. Even in the major Arizona collections, such a piece would be considered one of the capstones.
RARE08-2-95 - Diaboleite - $ 2000 Mammoth-St. Anthony Mine, Tiger, Pinal County, Arizona, USA thumbnail, 1.7 x 1.4 x 0.6 cm
A Major specimen of this ultra-rare species: it consists of two 2-cm crystals, almost doubly terminated, growing in parallel. Top color, and the size of the crystals, make this a very impressive thumbnail specimen. Large crystals are extremely rare and few are on the market in any quality.
