MD-112562 - Devilline - - Archived Špania Dolina (Urvölgy; Herrengrund), Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia small cabinet, 6 x 3.8 x 2.8 cm
First discovered when Herrengrund was part of Austro-Hungary, and not the Czech Republic, this is a very old specimen of this classic European rarity! It has with it a very old Krantz label from the late 1800s or early 1900s. This rich specimen has several protected cavities with sharp devilline rosettes to 6-7 mm 6 x 3.8 x 2.8 cm
MD-119636 - Wulfenite, Devilline, Serpierite - - Archived Tsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine), Tsumeb, Otjikoto (Oshikoto) Region, Namibia small cabinet, 8.7 x 5.0 x 4.0 cm.
8.7 x 5.0 x 4.0 cm. A EXCELLENT and AESTHETIC, OLD-TIME Tsumeb specimen of lustrous, caramel-colored wulfenites attractively set on contrasting quartz needle-covered matrix and FURTHER enhanced by the blue-green copper sulfate oxidation minerals devilline and serpierite. ALL of the major wulfenites are PRISTINE and the large complex crystal is 1.4 cm. The old, 1970s or early 1980s, dealer label misidentifies devilline and serpierite as rosasite.
MD-153561 - Devilline - - Archived Špania Dolina (Urvölgy; Herrengrund), Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia miniature, 4.7 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm.
4.7 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm. This is an extremely important specimen of the mineral formerly known as "Herrengrundite," clearly of a very rare and unique habit that dates it to major finds here in the mid-1800s. Specimens are represented in this quality only in museums today (and in a very few specimens in private hands, such as a famous piece ex. Archduke Stephan collection which I had the luck to handle in 2001!). Clusters of robust large crystals such as these, on the contrasting matrix, have been sought after by collectors ever since, and though more devilline has been found in recent years it has not approached this quality. The piece is very beautiful and elegant, making this a competition-level miniature with unusual balance and aesthetics. As well, it is simply significant for the rarity and historic importance of the species.
MD-196054 - Devilline - - Archived Richtárová, Staré Hory, Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia small cabinet, 7.0 x 5.2 x 4.3 cm.
7.0 x 5.2 x 4.3 cm. Devilline specimens from Richtárová are typically different than those from the type locality at Spania Dolina (Herrengrund), as they are generally more acicular in habit, and the Spania Dolina specimens form platy "rosettes". This piece is a beautiful representative specimen of Devilline hosting a beautiful "spray" of emerald-green "needles" of Devilline on matrix.
MD-21346 - Devilline - - Archived Špania Dolina (Urvölgy; Herrengrund), Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia small cabinet, 6 x 5 x 1.5 cm
Devilline is one of the most desirable of the classic "antique" copper species of Europe, especially pieces from this old locality of Herrengrund. This is a very rich specimen with hundreds of sharp crystals arranged in rows of plates, to 3 mm in size. Rich clusters and individual crystals cover much of the display face and wrap around the top! Beautiful old pieces such as this date to the 1800's, and are hard to come by today. 6 x 5 x 1.5 cm
MD-27541 - Devilline - - Archived Špania Dolina (Urvölgy; Herrengrund), Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia cabinet, 12.0 x 9.2 x 3.7 cm
An extraordinarily large and rich specimen from this classic locality , with large areas covered by dense devilline in the form of 2-4 mm crystals in hemispherical aggregates. THis is old material from teh 1800's, and is rarely seen in such large specimens surviving to the present day. 12.0 x 9.2 x 3.7 cm
MD-54431 - Devilline - - Archived Richtárová, Staré Hory, Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia thumbnail, .4 cm
This mineral species is rarely seen in discrete crystals. On this matrix covered in green smears of devilline are two crystals sitting in a vug. The deep green crystals display a foliated appearance, much like mica. The largest crystal is .4 cm across. This is a specimen which could be trimmed, to imrpove aesthetics and tighten the view. THIS AND THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS ARE FROM THE COTYPE (1864) AND MOST IMPORTANT LOCALE FOR THE SPECIES. SPECIMENS OF THIS QUALITY ARE EXCEEDINGLY RARE! 5.2 x 4.9 x 2.9 cm
MD-54432 - Devilline - - Archived Richtárová, Staré Hory, Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia thumbnail, .7 cm
This specimen of devilline, a calcium, copper, sulfate, is more richly crystallized than the previous specimen. Here, the rich green, devilline has formed in rosettes, to .7 cm across. 5.5 x 2.6 x 2.2 cm
MD-54433 - Devilline - - Archived Richtárová, Staré Hory, Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia thumbnail, 1.0 cm
This matrix specimen of devilline has rosettes of deep green crystals which reach 1.0 cm across. Ths is better size and richness, overall! Also, there is a second vein with smaller crystals running along the backside. Extremely fine crysatllization and the beauty make this a great example of this rare, classic species. 5.9 x 4.2 x 3 cm
MD-54434 - Devilline - - Archived Richtárová, Staré Hory, Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia miniature, 4.4 x 3 x 1.9 cm
Devilline intergrown, platy, deep green crystals reach an average size of 2 mm across. 4.4 x 3 x 1.9 cm
MD-54435 - Devilline - - Archived Richtárová, Staré Hory, Špania Dolina ore belt, Starohorské Mts, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia thumbnail, .5 cm
This specimen offers a matrix of sparkling white gypsum druse underlying deep green, rosettes of devilline, which reach .5 cm across. I have never seen the association so nicely presented! The white background really enhances the beauty and the individual nature of these crystals makes them an extra step above other devilline specimens I have seen in the past. THis is a VERY special, sophisticated, specimen! 3.8 x 2.3 x 1.1 cm
