Cuprite, Malachite from Ogonja (Onganja), Seeis, Windhoek District, Khomas Region, Namibia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38490a.jpg]

This is an old Onganja specimen from the old dealer stock of Gary Hansen. You can see sharp faces on the malachite-coated cuprite crystals. The crystals are not complete on the sides, but this allows you to see the glassy interiors of the cuprites (which are actually a very deep red). In addition to these two copper minerals, the Onganja is known for some fine crystallized copper specimens. 4.6 x 3.2 x 2.3 cm

You have seen the fine crystallized coppers that have until recently been coming from this mine in Russia, but here is a specimen with sharp cuprite crystals (to 0.6 cm) embedded amongst the branches of copper! What is more, the specimen sits on a natural "base" of matrix, very uncommon for these Itauz pieces. A very uncommon and desirable specimen. 5.5 x 4.0 x 2.2cm

14.6 x 9.6 x 1.8 cm. A gorgeous old Russian copper specimen, distinguished not only by its size and graceful form, but also by color accents from malachite(the green) and cuprite (the reddish tones in the copper) where these minerals partially replaced the copper. Check out the locality: this is not a specimen you see around on the market; it came to us from a Russian scientist, who verified the cuprite and malachite replacement. Said to be 20 years or so old, having been collected at the end of the 1980s.

A VERY AESTHETIC, classic, old-time specimen of cuprite-coated, dendritic, spinel-twinned copper crystals from the famous Champion Mine of Michigan. This piece has some of VERY BEST, classic, dendritic growth patterns that I have ever seen on a copper specimen from any mine. The stem or trunk copper crystal runs the entire length of the piece and the cuprite-enhanced patina is excellent. Ex Kevin Brown Collection. It is utterly classic for the locale in terms of structure and crystallography 6.6 x 3.8 x 3.2 cm

Sharp, very attractive , classic example of this famous pseudomorph! However, its MUCH sharper than normal, and really exquisite in person. It is so sharp, in fact, she had it labelled as a garnet from France...but it ain't! 0.9 x .8 x .7 cm
