5.9 x 4.9 x 4.4 cm. Three translucent, maroon-colored crystals of ruby still embedded in their matrix. They show fine, sharp hexagonal form. The largest one measures around 1.5 cm both across the termination and in length.
6.0 x 6.0 x 2.8 cm. This specimen features a few very good sized, rather sharp, somewhat lustrous, rich purplish-pink color hexagonal Ruby crystals on white Calcite matrix. The color is very rich for a Ruby from this locality and it is not a light pink or even a rose pink color, it certainly has a distinct purplish hue. The largest crystal measures 1.0 cm long.
8.5 x 5 x 3.5 cm. Very fine pair of lustrous deep rose (almost plum) hexagonal crystals that are sharp and attractive. The largest, which is 2,2 cm, is also doubly terminated, while the smaller crystal is contacted on the small area of termination that is exposed.
4.1 x 3.2 x 2.1 cm. SUPERB euhedral 1.6 cm crystal of very fine Ruby.
8.0 x 5.5 x 5.2 cm. Rubies from this locality are few and far between these days in my experience. The best of these specimens are certainly some of the finest crystallized Rubies in the world. This specimen features a very good sized, rather sharp, somewhat lustrous, rich purplish-red color hexagonal Ruby crystal on white Calcite matrix. The color is very rich for a Ruby from this locality and it is not a light pink or even a rose pink color, it certainly has a distinct purplish hue. The crystal measures 1.0 cm long.
4.5 x 1.9 x 1.3 cm. A SUPER, gemmy and lustrous, doubly terminated, light purple/blue blush sapphire crystal with great stepped faces from Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. This neat, pristine crystal is beautifully complimented by the sidecar sapphire. Ex. Leithauser Collection.
2.1 x 1.0 x 0.9 cm. An aesthetic and superb, floater, thumbnail cluster of gemmy and lustrous, pigeon’s blood-red ruby crystals from recent finds at Luc Yen, Vietnam. This is THE classic color for ruby crystals. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
5.6 x 5.6 x 2.1 cm. Opaque corundum or ruby crystals, with perfect hexagonal form, still embedded in the granitic matrix - from NORWAY! This rarity came out of the Gene Meieran collection. The two largest crystals measure 1.5 cm across and are complete and terminated, with sharp faces.
8.0 x 7.0 x 6.0 cm. A 3.0 cm, lustrous, translucent, pink ruby crystal aesthetically perched atop grayish-white marble matrix on this EXCELLENT and VERY SHOWY specimen from Hunza, Pakistan. The UNRETOUCHED backlit photo highlights the beautiful pink color saturation and translucency.
5.5 x 3.7 x 2.5 cm. The Rubies from Jagdalek are among some of the most well known and superbly crystallized Ruby specimens around. This specimen features a remarkably sharp, very well formed, semi-lustrous, reddish-pink color prismatic crystal on a marble matrix. The Ruby measures 1.6 cm long. The crystal is not at all opaque as the majority of these specimens tend to be. The crystal also has superb form with a distinct basal pinacoid. The color in this crystal is really beautiful, and the overall quality of the piece leaves nothing to be desired. These specimens have truly risen in price on the market in recent years, and it seems that they are not being found as frequently as they once were.
5.9 x 5.2 x 1.9 cm. This is a very large, complete crystal of corundum (ruby), with perfect hexagonal form. That tiered look you see on one side is not damage - it is natural. Ex. C. H. Pennypacker collection (late 1800s). This superb crystal has the deep maroon color that is typical for these Indian specimens. Now, if it were only GEMMY.
11.0 x 8.1 x 3.3 cm. Rubies from this locality are few and far between these days in my experience. The best of these specimens are certainly some of the finest crystallized Rubies in the world. This specimen features a very good sized, rather sharp, somewhat lustrous, rich purplish-pink color hexagonal Ruby crystal with smaller Rubies on white Calcite matrix. The color is pretty good for a Ruby from this locality and it is not a light pink or even a rose pink color. The largest crystal measures 2.0 cm long.
5.8 x 2.2 x 1.9 cm. A large, gemmy, sharp, banded, doubly terminated sapphire crystal from the classic locality of Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. This lustrous, sharp beauty has the BEST Kashmir-blue color for a sapphire crystal that I have seen in a long time. The terminations are contacted, but not broken in any way and the trivial edge bruising in a couple of places is barely noticeable. Classic material from a classic locality. Ex. George Elling Collection. 40 grams.
2.9 x 1.8 x 1.8 cm. A complete ruby crystal with fabulous deep pink/red color and perfect form, on marble matrix. The ruby measures right at one centimeter. There is no damage or contact, and both terminations are intact. The crystal is completely exposed on the matrix.
2.6 x 1.1 x 1.0 cm. A gemmy, colorless, doubly terminated sapphire crystal with iron-oxide staining. This classic, striated Ratnapura crystal has moderate lustre. One side of one of the terminations is bruised, but is out of sight. You do not see very many of these on the market anymore. Very representative of the species and locality. Ex. George Elling Collection.
