Not only do these calcite crystals contain bright copper (a classic Michigan phenomenon), but the copper is actually deposited on an earlier generation of calcite crystals. So what you see are sharp, copper copper-coated PHANTOMS inside the calcites! There are little bruises here and there, but this specimen is more about being interesting than being pristine. This is an OLD specimen! 7.6 x 6.8 x 3.7cm
A fabulous mini of crystallized copper, with dramatically sculptural form! Big chunky crystals are perched atop a natural branch-like "base". A fine Arizona copper in a "cute" size! 3.8 x 2.3 x 2.2cm
A large fan of crystallized copper, an old specimen from the Santa Rita pit, very sculptural in form, with a natural "base" and two "branches" as if planned! Hauck collection . This is a really dramatic, unusually large example for the locality! 11.9 x 8.6 x 1.7cm
RARE, hoppered, cubic copper crystals in paralllel-growth and with nice patina from Michigan"s famous Copper Country. This is one of the more unusual copper forms, that you will see from the Keweenaw Peninsula, and this is a good one. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 3.7 x 2.6 x 2.1 cm
An OLD-TIME, massive specimen of sponge-like, vein copper coated with cuprite from the famous Bergmannstrost Mine, Bad Ems District, Germany. The Mineralogical Record article on the Bad Ems District, Vol. 15, No. 6 helped to identify the mine. This material was mined in 1875 and this is a significant, rich, weighty specimen! 7.1 x 6.8 x 2.0 cm
An old Bisbee classic - an intricate cluster of crystallized copper richly covered with cuprite crystals! These old Bisbee pieces are just so hard to get these days! 5.6 x 5.4 x 3.7cm
A whopper nugget of natural "float" copper from the glacial drifts in Michigan - showing a beautiful "antique" patina; polished on one side to bring out the penny-bright luster. Weighs one pound eleven ounces! 12.9 x 10.2 x 2.7cm
An EXCELLENT and SCULPTURAL specimen of sharp, cuprite-coated, tetrahexahedral and dentritic, spinel-twinned copper crystals from the famous Ray Mine of Arizona. A fine, old-time piece. Ex Edna Doughty and Richard Hauck Collections. A mesmerizing piece in person, with much complexity , and very 3-dimensional 5.5 x 4.0 x 2.6 cm
A VERY AESTHETIC, complete all-around, branching, dentritic, spinel-twinned copper specimen with a nice patina from the famous Ajo District of Arizona. A fine specimen from the famous thumbnail collection of Carl Davis. This is just superb for a thumb copper, especially from this particular mine! 2.0 x 1.7 x 1.2 cm
A RARE and RICH, silver-copper "halfbreed" nugget from the famous Cashin Mine of Montrose County, Colorado. VERY UNCOMMON material. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 1.3 x 1.3 x 1.0 cm
An AESTHETIC, very lightweight, filigree-like copper specimen consisting of arborescent, spinel-twinned and and very sharp octohedral copper crystals from the famous Emke Mine at Onganja, Namibia. This is a pristine, floater specimen and is one of the most artistic Emke Mine coppers, that I have seen. Part of the piece is covered with cuprite. 4.2 x 2.8 x 1.3 cm
It is just so hard to get Bisbee copper specimens these days! This one is particularly interesting in form, in that it has a completely crystallized "tree" of copper rising in the midst of a matrix of massive, copper-rich ore. From the back, you can see that the copper crystals are laced throughout this matrix rock. 4.6 x 4.5 x 3.1cm
This is a fascinating old Michigan specimen, to me. What you have is a very large specimen of datolite, infused with copper so that it is actually tinted a coppery color - and, surrounded by copper-rich ore. Datolites have become so sought-after and hard to obtain, for whatever reason. Though they do not compete in aesthetics with a fine crystal specimen, there is just some aura about them these days that gets collectors excited - perhaps their old Michigan connotations. This is certainly a very unusual and exciting one, with its copper assocation! Ex. Hauck COllection. 9.5 x 8.0 x 5.9cm
A wonderfully sculptural old Michigan copper out of the Hauck Collection. This completely crystallized specimen shows stunning crystal form from all directions! As the pics show -- truly exceptional! 7.1 x 5.9 x 4.6cm
From the most prolific area in the world for Copper specimens. This is a showy, aesthetic cabinet size specimen with a strange "slag" look to it. Very good size for the Upper Peninsula! 14.0 x 11.0 x 6.5cm
