7.7 x 5.5 x 4.7 cm. A 2.5 x 2.0 cm, artistic "shrub" of arborescent, spinel-twinned copper crystals is perched on a solid matrix of crudely crystallized to hackly copper pseudomorphs after cuprite crystals. Old-time material from Bisbee and the Mullane Collection. Very rich copper ore. Weighs 251 grams.
A very sculptural specimen of penny-bright natural copper from Michigan, wrapped around some matrix at the bottom which adds a nice accent. The form could hardly be nicer! 6.8 x 4.7 x 2.8 cm
3.9 x 2.9 x 1.9 cm. A very fine, sculptural copper specimen consisting of very sharp tetrahexahedrons and spinel-twins from the famous mines at Bisbee. The crystals have a pretty patina, as many crystals have a cuprite coating. Every turn presents a different fascinating perspective to this interesting floater. Ex. Dennis Mullane Bisbee Collection.
10.0 x 7.8 x 3.4 cm. A striking and most unusual looking cabinet specimen from the Geevor Mine of Cornwall. Sharp copper microcrystals fully surround large brecciated quartz fragments on both sides of the scuptural specimen. Cuprite richly coats much of the copper and adds a very nice patina. The large breccia fragment is 5.3 cm across. The area around this historic mine was intermittently active from the late 1700s until 1990. Ex. Wes Parker Collection.
3.0 x 2.7 x 2.2 cm. Sharp copper spinel-twins with a bright patina form a very sculptural and aesthetic toenail specimen from the famous mines at Bisbee. The branching, arborescent form of this specimen is striking. Classic Bisbee material.
3.1 x 2.8 x 1.6 and 3.0 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm. Here is a wonderful thumbnail set consisting of a crystal of Aragonite and a pseudomorph of Copper after Aragonite from the famous locality of Corocoro. These floater specimens are well known from Bolivia for their great form and color, and this set is great way to illustrate the "before and after" effect which is rare to find for most pseudomorphs, especially from the same locality. These pieces are some of the most well known and highly sought after pseudomorphs around. This set is a very fine example of this material, and it was very difficult to find a pair of these specimens that matched so well for shape and size. There hasn't been any significant amount of these specimens on the market in approximately 25 years, and they are often only found in old collections.
2.5 x 1.2 x 0.8 cm. Here we have a fine example of an aesthetic, arborscent, bright Copper specimen from one of the most historic and classic mining districts in the United States. A predominant modified octahedral crystal of Copper is flaring upward giving this piece a very impactful and dramatic appearance. A superb thumbnail specimen of this well known material. This piece may have been acid etched out of host rock due to the luster and unique appearance.
Polished on one side to show its penny-bright luster, this is a hefty (15-ounce) nugget of natural copper from the glacial drifts in Michigan. The bright, polished areas contrast beautifully with the natural green patina. 9.7 x 8.6 x 2.0 cm
A lacy, sculptural, penny-bright Arizona copper specimen with pretty "leaves" at the top. Not at all wimpy and thin but quite substantial and sturdy. 11.2 x 8.0 x 2.6 cm
Mining of these fine copper thumbers has stopped, at least for the time being - which is sad, because they are just so good. One side of this completely crystalllized specimen shows the classic herringbone pattern, and the other, chunky little spinel-twinned crystals! (sorry for the fuzzy shot of these little crystals but they are quite pretty and interesting in person). 2.8 x 1.2 x 1.1 cm
A very rich silver/copper "half-breed" from Michigans Keweenaw Peninsula or Copper Country. This piece is exceptional, in that, most of the specimen is silver and not copper. The silver percentage in most ''half-breeds" is usually much lower. Three-quarters of the front of the specimen is silver, while the back is mostly copper, with silver visible on the left fringe and top of the piece! weight: 18 grams. 3.0 x 1.7 x 1.0 cm
6.1 x 3.0 x 1.2 cm. A sculptural copper with cuprite specimen from the Ray Mine. This interesting two-sided piece consists of sharp, tetrahexahedral copper microcrystals with a sparkly, cuprite over-coated patina partially covering very sharp, arborescent spinel-twins. This excellent piece comes from a recently uncovered stash from the well-known copper mine, as the specimens were collected in 1959.
Another fine natural nugget of Michigan "float" copper, polished on one side to show the penny-bright luster, accented with areas of green patina from oxidation. The nugget weighs 15 ounces. 10.1 x 8.0 x 3.0 cm
Mining of these superb crystallized coppers from Russia has stopped, at least for now. We are fortunate to have saved some back from when they were coming out. This one features a large, fine, chunky crystal, centered perfectly, with accenting crystals around it. 3.3 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm
A penny-bright, very sculptural Arizona copper - not wimpy or thin but quite substantial, and thickened with matrix at the bottom creating a natural "base" for the leafy, pretty forms above. This is prettier in person - the pics this time around did not capture the bright coppery patina. It is really a nice one. 10.0 x 8.8 x 2.0 cm
