It is complete all around, too. ex. Dr. Gary Hansen dealer stock and not shown since early 1980s. 7.8 x 3.2 x 1.8 cm

Copper, Silver from Keweenaw Co., Michigan, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-24452a.jpg]

A fascinating slab through the center of a Michigan "half-breed" nodule, showing two distinct areas of solid silver surrounded by the copper. This piece really shows off this "half-breed" phenomenon quite well. It is a really showy conversation piece. What a monster this nodule must have been?! 8.5 x 8.1 x 0.4 cm

There were no more of these at Denver, as the mining has stopped, at least for now. And this is sad, in that they really are world-class crystallized coppers. This is a superb, tall, elegant one, crystallized from top to bottom, with a fine patina. 4.1 x 1.2 x 0.7 cm

2.6 x 2.4 x 1.4 and 2.6 x 2.4 x 1.5 cm. Here is a wonderful thumbnail set consisting of a crystal of Aragonite and a pseudomorph of Copper after Aragonite from the famous locality of Corocoro. These floater specimens are well known from Bolivia for their great form and color, and this set is great way to illustrate the "before and after" effect which is rare to find for most pseudomorphs, especially from the same locality. These pieces are some of the most well known and highly sought after pseudomorphs around. This set is a very fine example of this material, and it was very difficult to find a pair of specimens that matched so well for shape and especially size. There hasn't been any significant amount of these specimens on the market in approximately 25 years, and they are often only found in old collections.

Datolite, Copper from Knowlton Mine, Mass City, Ontonagon Co., Michigan, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-246326a.jpg]

4.4 x 3.7 x 1.5 cm. The datolites from Michigan’s copper country generally weather out of the amygdaloidal basalts. Since they are closely associated with the copper deposits they are often invested with enough copper to give them a beautiful terra-cotta color, like this one. But in this consistent color and depth of hue, it is rare. A fine miniature. Ex. Martin Zinn Collection.

Copper from Corocoro, Pacajes Province, La Paz Department, Bolivia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-247617a.jpg]

2.3 x 2.1 x 1.8 cm. Here is a wonderful thumbnail size specimen of the famous pseudomorphs of Copper after Aragonite from Corocoro. These floater specimens are well known from Bolivia for their great form and color, and this piece has the classic and unique pseudohexagonal form that has made these pieces some of the most well known and highly sought after pseudomorphs around. This specimen is a very fine example of this material. There hasn't been any significant amount of these specimens on the market in approximately 25 years, and they are often only found in old collections.

Copper, Calcite from Quincy Mine, Hancock, Houghton Co., Michigan, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-247658a.jpg]

2.2 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm. Quincy Mine copper in calcite specimens are probably the most desirable Michigan Copper Country mineral species and are consequently difficult to obtain in good specimens. This superb thumbnail is stereotypical of the species and locale: a sharp, gemmy calcite scalenohedron with mildly striated faces richly included with copper with a fine patina. Ex. Jaime Bird Collection.

7.0 x 5.9 x 2.1 cm. A classic, old-time specimen from the 13 Level of the Levant Mine of Cornwall of hackly copper richly covered on both sides with sparkly, deep wine-red cuprite microcrystals. The bit of attached matrix is a nice accent to this showy, historic piece. Ex. Wesley Stark Collection.
