14.9 x 9.2 x 2.1 cm. This is a large and fabulous old Michigan classic, and just could not be more impressive and aesthetic! It is a COMPLETELY crystallized specimen standing 14 cm tall, beautiful from both sides, with a branching (dendritic) form. It shows a fine antique patina. An old-timer such as this from the White Pine, particularly in this size, is just extremely hard to come by. Ex. George Elling Collection.

16.4 x 14.9 x 10.9 cm. This would be pretty impressive just as a natural copper nugget - it weighs in at just under eight pounds. But, it is not just a nugget; running all the way across one side, for about 5 inches, is a channel full of large crystals (to 1.5 cm), sharp and wonderfully formed. This is essentially the wall of a narrow pocket, where the copper had room to form these excellent crystals. This is old Michigan material that escaped the smelter when the miner recognized the value of a well-crystallized specimen. Ex. George Elling Collection.

5.8 x 3.9 x 1.6 cm. A large mini of Michigan copper from an old collection, showing fine crystallization and a very pretty antique patina. The largest of the chunky crystals on this specimen measures 1.5 cm.

Copper from Keweenaw Co., Michigan, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-131664a.jpg]

10.8 x 8.8 x 6.3 cm. A MAJOR copper specimen of large size and great 3-dimensionality with this fantastic copper crystal upon it (about 5 x 3 x 3 cm…2 inches tall!). The piece weighs 2.2 pounds, or in mass about a kilogram. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.

4.3 x 3.2 x 1.7 cm. Aesthetic, robust, arborescent copper without the usual gracile fragility so many of these seem to have. This is a sturdy and 3-dimensional piece, exceptional for the mine (now long closed). Ex. Charlie Key Collection.

1.9 x 1.9 x 1.8 cm. Here is a wonderful thumbnail size specimen of the famous pseudomorphs of Copper after Aragonite from Corocoro. These floater specimens are well known from Bolivia for their great form and color, and this piece has the classic and unique form that has made these pieces classics. I think that this specimen is a very fine example of this material. This specimen is from a find from over 25 years ago.

11.3 x 10.3 x 3.6 cm. A showy and excellent CABINET Pennsylvania copper with quartz and matrix! This sculptural and uncommonly large copper has a nice patina. The copper is platy and hackly. This is a fine piece from a recent, small find.

7.3 x 4.4 x 1.0 cm. A VERY FINE specimen of bright, micro-dendritic copper in a TERMINATED transparent gypsum cleavage from the Mission Mine of Arizona. OLD and very choice material, which comes with a 1960s-70s-era Styrofoam base with a pinned label. Such windowpane slices are almost never available, ESPECIALLY a terminated one! In person, looking at the internal meshwork, you can see how mesmerizing this is and why it is such a classic. Ex. George Elling Collection. VERY neat piece!

5.3 x 3.4 x 3.3 cm. A super-sharp, textbook-quality, 2.0 cm, copper tetrahexahedron very aesthetically upright on copper crystals, quartz and groundmass from Michigan’s famous Copper County. The copper has an outstanding patina. Ex. George Elling Collection and obviously an old-timer.

Copper from Itauz Mine, Zhezqazghan Oblysy (Dzezkazgan Oblast'; Dzhezkazgan Oblast'; Djezkazgan Oblast'; Jezkazgan Oblast'), Kazakhstan [db_pics/mdpics/MD-133833a.jpg]

3.9 x 2.4 x 1.1 cm, 3.9 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm, 3.4 x 1.3 x .7 cm. Three completely different specimens of beautifully crystallized copper from the Itauz Mine, which has not produced these fine coppers for some time now. Here you have a herringbone "feather", another with chunky, tightly packed crystals (this one looks a lot better in person), and a third with a branching form.

19.4 x 14.1 x 2.1 cm. This is a very large, thick and heavy natural specimen of penny-bright copper from the copper-mining district of Michigan. You can clearly see chunks of matrix from the host rock that surrounded this thick vein. The copper has retained its natural brightness on both sides of the specimen. This impressive specimen weighs over 2 pounds!

9.7 x 8.9 x 8.4 cm. This is a large specimen of green micro-malachite on a 3-dimensional matrix of heavily oxidized copper, from the great Tsumeb locality. You can also see little creamy cerussites atop the malachite, so this is a very interesting association piece that shows the richness of this mine (copper, lead and other metals made it a richly rewarding mine for many decades, and it turned out a dizzying array of secondary minerals). Rare association!
