2.1 x 2.0 x 1.9 cm. A stunning thumbnail featuring several 1 to 1.2 cm crystals merging into a hoppered growth atop. These are SHARP in form, as sharp as if they were carved. This is a great thumbnail, almost world-class but for a small, tiny broken point to the lower-left of the cluster atop.
2.9 x 2.0 x 1.6 cm. Razor-sharp crystals to 1 cm, in an elegant cluster.
3.0 x 2.9 x 2.4 cm. A killer toenail-sized specimen with sharp, 2 cm crystals sticking straight up and out, very 3-dimensional. The front and sides are pristine; there is only one break in back, on one of the smaller rear-facing crystals.
3.6 x 2.7 x 2.3 cm. A great reference specimen with sharp crystals to 1 cm, though with some minor damage when looked at very closely. From afar, though, you do not see it.
4.1 x 3.4 x 2.5 cm. A solid cluster with sharp crystals to 7mm, tucked in upon one another and throwing off lots of reflections in person, from so many faces.
4.9 x 4.3 x 2.6 cm. Thin, sharp crystals to 1 cm on copper-rich sulfide matrix makes for a dramatic display! A little jumbly, but this is VERY RICH and good coverage, I think.
6.8 x 3.2 x 3.1 cm. A single 3-cm-tall and wide crystal dominates the right hand of this specimen, with smaller crystals to 2 cm forming a roseate cluster upon the left side. This is the richest, large cluster I have. It is remarkably pristine and in good condition.
7.0 x 6.0 x 3.0 cm. Thin, sharp crystals to 1.5 cm on copper-rich sulfide matrix makes for a dramatic display! Large crystalline chalcocites, on hard rock matrix, are just not common from any locality. This piece has some trivial damage when inspected closely, but most crystals are to 1 cm and in good shape.
4.7 x 2.5 x 1.9 cm. A sharp, freestanding 1.7-cm crystal crowns this cluster of chalcocite on hard rock matrix beneath. A very aesthetic miniature from this new find with a dramatic major crystal atop!
2.7 x 2.4 x 1.9 cm. A showy and excellent, two-sided thumbnail cluster of sharp, iridescent, brassy chalcocite crystals from the famous Flambeau Mine of Wisconsin. This high-grade copper mine operated only from 1993-1997. These are considered to be some of the best United States chalcocites. The one contacted area REALLY shows the beautiful iridescence.
10.2 x 4.3 x 4.0 cm. A sharp, excellent and showy CABINET quartz crystal included with 3 minerals and very attractively complimented by a 1.7 cm chalcocite crystal from the famous Messina Mine of South Africa. The lustrous and translucent, pseudo-hexagonal quartz is included with native copper, epidote and chlorite. The crystal is complete all-around and is partially coated. The back of the termination is cleaved and there is a bruise at the base of the termination on the display side, but overall, they are not detracting. This remains a RARE, HIGHLY UNUSUAL and excellent quartz crystal with multiple mineral inclusions and an uncommon and very showy sidecar crystal. Comes with a California dealer "Burminco" label. Ex. Richard Hauck Quartz Collection.
10.3 x 5.9 x 3.8 cm. On massive, black chalcocite and tennantite ore are a few sparkling, splendent, black crystals of chalcocite, to 2.5 mm across. From the collection of James E. Moresby White. Ex. Carnegie Museum Collection.
1.7 x 1.5 x 1.3 cm. Allan Young has won the prestigious Desautels Award for Best Rocks at the Tucson Show with thumbnails, such as this. This very aesthetic thumb consists of a super-sharp, matte, dark gray chalcocite crystal proudly perched upright on massive chalcocite matrix and beautifully wreathed on one side by two, curved silver wires.
3.4 x 1.7 x 1.1 cm. A solid crust of sharp, metallic-bright chalcocite crystals to 7mm, stacked atop one another and throwing off lots of iridescence in person, from so many faces. This beauty comes from a small recent find.
5.0 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm. Isolated, sharp and lustrous chalcocite crystals to 7 mm are nicely scattered on matrix accented with iron-stained quartz crystals on this fine specimen from the Levant Mine of Cornwall. Ex. Wes Parker Collection.
