This oldtime specimen is a plate of intergrown, lustrous, orange rhombs of chabazite, 2.5 cm across. The salmon color is quite distinctive. I am told this is a very rich specimen, and probalbvy dates to the heyday of New Jersey collecting in the 50s and 60s. Honestly though, I valued it as a chabazite of size and substance, regardless of the neat locale.

4JD23 - Chabazite - SOLD
Malad, near Bombay, India

miniature, 4 x 3 x 2.8 cm
share specimen

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

This is actually a really huge and fine crystal for the species from India, where amongst many more common zeolite species, chabazite remains to this day a true rarity. This well-trimmed miniature (if i say so myself, having done it!) specimen features intergrown rhombohedral crystals to 2.5 cm and should be considered important for the species from ANY location

This specimen features salmon pink pseudo-cubic crystals of lustrous chabazite, to 1.5 cm across, aesthetically arranged on this specimen. This specimen of a rare zeolite family species has a very nice sculptural quality about it. For the locality this is the richest color I have seen, and the largest crystals as well

Chabazite-Ca, Prehnite from Upper New Street Quarry (Burger's Quarry), Paterson, Passaic Co., New Jersey, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-118314a.jpg]

11.8 x 7.1 x 4.1 cm. The quarry at Upper New Street is over 100 years old (it opened in 1893). During the mid 1980’s to early 1990’s, there was a lot of collecting that took place between the Upper New Street and Lower Street Quarries in an area that is affectionately referred to by some as "Middle New Street". The majority of the specimens from this area are still labeled as being found at Upper New Street even though they were not found in the quarry itself. This specimen consists of dozens of light pinkish color, lustrous Chabazite crystals associated with light green Datolite crystals and a very attractive whitish color "spray" of Natrolite on matrix. These pieces are no longer being quarried and are very good quality for the locality. A great display specimen from this significant New Jersey Trap Rock quarry.

6.4 x 4.5 x 3.2 cm. A sculptural and very fine combination specimen from the famous Upper New Street trap rock quarry of Paterson, New Jersey. The white "wing" and the white matrix back are albite pseudomorphing anhydrite crystals! The "body" is beautifully and richly covered with blocky, orange chabazite crystals and pearlescent, colorless heulandite crystals. Ex. George Feist Collection.

4.5 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm. Glassy and lustrous, colorless, chabazite variety phacolite crystals RICHLY cover both sides of this excellent and very showy crust from the Flinders area of Victoria, Australia. Chabazite is common, but phacolite is UNCOMMON from the Flinders area and this a good one. Phacolite is a lens-shaped variety of chabazite, due to twinning/multiple twinning of the rhombohedrons. Ex. George Elling Collection.

13.7 x 10.0 x 2.2 cm. Glassy and lustrous, colorless, chabazite variety phacolite crystals RICHLY cover both sides of this excellent and very showy CABINET crust from Gads Hill, Tasmania. Chabazite is common, but phacolite is UNCOMMON from the Flinders area and this an outstanding, large specimen (largest plate I have seen, anyhow). Phacolite is a lens-shaped variety of chabazite, due to twinning/multiple twinning of the rhombohedrons. Ex. George Elling Collection.

3.9 x 3.7 x 2.4 cm. A sharp cluster featuring very rich color, and an unusual association with crystallized calcite! This is new material collected recently from this classic old locality that is difficult to access, by my friend Rod Tyson (a semi-retired mineral dealer and well-known Canadian field collector!).

4.1 x 2.8 x 1.9 cm. This is a dramatic cluster of large gmelinites to about an inch, which have replaced chabazite. The lustre is unusually good on this piece, almost glassy and so far better than on others I have seen in the past! This is new material collected recently from this classic old locality that is difficult to access, by my friend Rod Tyson (a semi-retired mineral dealer and well-known Canadian field collector!).

3.3 x 3.3 x 1.7 cm. A cluster of extremely sharp chabazite crystals to just over 1 cm, with vivid color the most intense I have seen from here. They are perched on a thin plate of heulandite. This is new material collected recently from this classic old locality that is difficult to access, by my friend Rod Tyson (a semi-retired mineral dealer and well-known Canadian field collector!).

4.4 x 3.6 x 1.5 cm. A plate featuring many extremely sharp chabazite crystals to just over 1 cm, with vivid color the most intense I have seen from here. They are perched on a thin plate of heulandite. This is new material collected recently from this classic old locality that is difficult to access, by my friend Rod Tyson (a semi-retired mineral dealer and well-known Canadian field collector!).

7.6 x 5.7 x 4.6 cm. This is a dramatic cluster of large gmelinite crystals featuring a giant 3 cm crystal in the middle, all of which have replaced chabazite. The lustre is unusually good on this piece, almost glassy and therefore far better than on others I have seen in the past! This is new material collected recently from this classic old locality that is difficult to access, by my friend Rod Tyson (a semi-retired mineral dealer and well-known Canadian field collector!). This is a significant piece, from what I have seen in the past and also in context of this new find, for overall size and quality.

Chabazite-Ca, Heulandite-Ca from Wasson Bluff, Parrsboro, Bay of Fundy, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia, Canada [db_pics/mdpics/MD-153545a.jpg]

3.3 x 2.9 x 1.5 cm. A plate of heulandite featuring an extremely sharp chabazite crystal to approx. 2 cm, with vivid color the most intense I have seen from here. This is an extremely aesthetic miniature, competition level for the species. I believe it also shows off a penetration twin. Lastly, you can see the tip of the crystal is almost gemmy, or as close to gemmy as I can say I have ever seen in the species! This is new material collected recently from this classic old locality that is difficult to access, by my friend Rod Tyson (a semi-retired mineral dealer and well-known Canadian field collector!).

4.1 x 3.1 x 2.1 cm. This was the best miniature stilbite I was shown from the new find at this locality, featuring a gorgeous rosette on chabazite matrix, and intense color.
