8.4 x 4.2 x 3.9 cm. What is cool about this Tsumeb dioptase is the association with cerussite, represented by a gemmy jewel of a crystal perched right on the edge of a shallow depression in the matrix; it is a complete "threeling". The dioptase is a druse of sparkly microcrystals that wrap around to the back of the specimen.
7.8 x 2.9 x 1.2 cm. This is a large, super-transparent blade of cerussite from the great Tsumeb locality, where the best cerussites are from. This is just a huge crystal. It has an interesting epitaxial plateau on one side, and a fin that sticks out from the main part of the crystal on the other side (this fin has some edge-wear). The crystal is unterminated on one of the ends and one of the long sides, from removal from the pocket. But it is terminated on "top" and along one of its sides. It has GLASSY luster that you cannot see in the photo, and a slightly smoky color. Ex. Willy Israel collection.
9.5 x 6.2 x 3.5 cm. A shockingly beautiful specimen RICHLY covered with highly lustrous, "wet-look", apple-green pyromorphite crystals and seriously complimented by "snowflake", reticulated cerussite crystals on this VERY SHOWY and AESTHETIC piece from a very small, 2007 find at the famous Daoping Mine of China. The green color is gorgeous and the snowflakes are super.
3.8 x 3.5 x 2.3 cm. A UNIQUE, unusual and VERY SHOWY, two-sided Tsumeb pseudomorph! A RICH, HOLLOW cluster lustrous, yellow mimetite crystals has pseudomorphed a star-shaped, cyclically-twinned cerussite crystal!! The bladed bit of gossan matrix at the base adds a superb contrast. This unique specimen is essentially pristine and comes with a pre 1982 label. It is hard to put a value on this amazing and rare Tsumeb perimorph, where the shape of the cerussite is preserved.
8.0 x 4.9 x 4.3 cm. This is a tremendously complex specimen with 3-dimensional cerussite crystals shooting out everywhere, all of it miraculously pristine and undamaged save one little tip. No matter how this matrix specimen is displayed, it is wonderful. It is extremely lustrous with a literally adamantine glow (I have not seen a higher lustre on cerussite before), and it is quite translucent. Unusually colored a dark smoky hue, probably caused by minute inclusions of galena, nearly all of the crystals (to 3.5 cm across) appear to be cyclic twins. For such a soft mineral species, it is nearly pristine, which again I find remarkable given the exposure here. This is a superb example of a fine Tsumeb cerussite. "Smoky" cerussite of this quality is particularly rare. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
5.3 x 2.5 x 2.2 cm. Displaying adamantine luster and translucence, this specimen of cerussite exhibits reticulated twinning with 5 members intersecting the main crystal. Very attractive and complex miniature in super condition as you can see! Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
4.6 x 3.9 x 2.6 cm. Aesthetically perched on brown limonite is a colorless, elongated twin of cerussite, 2.6 cm long, which exhibits superb adamantine luster and super clarity. There are additional smaller crystals which have been partially or totally pseudomorphed by the limonite it seems. This major crystal is a doubly-terminated floater just sitting there, unlikely as it looks. It is pristine save for a tiny, tiny, bit of wear on the smaller end's tip. Very attractive! Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
3.4 x 3.2 x 2.3 cm. This cerussite, cyclic twin, is highlighted by a large, spearpoint crystal, measuring 3.0 cm in length. The color of the crystals is gray with good adamantine luster and some translucence. Nothing fancy, just a really neat piece for the equant, sharp geometry of that main termination. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
4.3 x 2.4 x 1.2 cm. This gemmy and glassy cerussite is colorless and remarkably, can be displayed properly on either side. This is a fine example of cyclic twinning but its so rare to get this form combined with such incredible clarity and colorlessness. This piece is almost a floater, save only a small narrow contact on the bottom edge. A superb miniature. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
4.0 x 2.2 x 1.2 cm. Superb miniature! Only very trivial bruising on one crystal tip keeps this specimen from being pristine. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
3.8 x 2.5 x 1.9 cm. Unusual and preferentially etched, this cerussite specimen has a slightly smoky-beige color and good translucence. The large crystal, 3.0 cm in length, has only fair luster due to the etching, which is uncommon in cerussite. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
4.0 x 3.3 x 2.8 cm. Perched upon a sliver of contrasting matrix, this specimen of colorless, gemmy and glassy cerussite features two types of twinning, both cyclic and reticulated. The largest crystal measures 1.0 cm across and this along with the other crystals exhibit adamantine (diamond like) luster. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
10.2 x 6.5 x 3.7 cm. A sparkling, vivid green carpet of intergrown crystals of glassy and gemmy, forest green, cuprian smithsonite serves as the backdrop for what looks like sharp creatures floating in the sea of green... Nearly covering the cuprian smithsonite are twinned crystal clusters of reticulated cerussite with a stark white color, both lustrous and translucent. They are to 1.1 cm across. I can identify V-twins, reticulated complex growths, snowflake, twins, and cyclic twins all on the same specimen. A spectacular combination of species and colors! Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
6.2 x 5.3 x 4.5 cm. One of the rarest occurrences at Tsumeb is when chalcotrichite, the fibrous phase of cuprite, includes other minerals. Here we have a shockingly contrasting green malachite matrix which has encased an etched cerussite crystal 3 cm across. The cerussite has a reddish-orange color and fine luster. Rare and very unusual in this size, and on any kind of matrix at all! Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
9.7 x 6.0 x 3.8 cm. A CLASSIC and DRAMATIC cerussite specimen from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. Highly glassy cerussite blades form an aesthetic reticulated box-work of crystals, like steel bridge girders. Classic style from the 1960s-1970s era, from the collection of well known South African dealer Rob Smith.
