ex. Marshall Sussman
This is an exquisite reticulated cerussite, that at first glance LOOKS like it is from the classic and unique find at Tsumeb in the early 1970s by geologist/collector John Innes - the so-called "gracile" style which has been in high demand ever since. But, this is more robust in depth and less fragile than those typically were. In fact, it IS from Morocco, from recent finds actually (about 2007 or early 2008), and was said to be the best such example sold at the St Marie show in summer of 2008. It was purchased at that time by the US collectors, the Sussmans, for their general Moroccan collection, which they have since sold to me in order to pursue another geographic focus. It is shockingly pristine, and complete all around. In person, it sparkles with an adamantine lustre and a brightness hard to convey. For the same price, you can get a "typical" and "nice" Tsumeb piece of about this size, OR you can get among the best we have yet seen Morocco produce - and I think this has a unique pizzazz to it, overall. And, can you believe this came out pristine and survived to market?! Joe Budd photos
An old specimen from an obscure Cornwall locality, I am sure - but a combination I have not personally seen before. The piece is 3-dimensional and attractive, with minor damage but also a few choice show angles. I invite feedback on this one, as it’s a most unusual piece! The old label dated to the time clearly does state it is from Cornwall, though i cannot peg the mine. It does NOT have the look of cerussite from the Redburn Mine in Weardale, and my belief is that it really is an old Cornish piece as advertised. The malachite is sparkly and attractive.

This is a very unusual specimen of reddish cerussite, perhaps stained red by included iron or hematite? I haven't seen anything quite like it. It is complete on both sides except for the most trivial of dings on one small spoke. Actually, both starbursts are complete as well, even the bottom one on which i stand the piece up!
This specimen has a rich smoky color to it, excellent glassy lustre, and really displays with pizzazz! Larger reticulated cerussites of this style rarely survive intact from teh mine, and from handling for so long, because of the thick faces and edges which are so sensitive to being banged around in drawers. This one IS in fact remarkably pristine, near-perfect in fact, with just a small break on one minor rear-facing crystal spoke to the right of the major cluster but otherwise perfect all around (even at the very base!). This is a superb Tsumeb cerussite, history aside. But, the label is pretty neat as well (note the sale price of "1 gold mark" in 1926!).

A very choice single V-twin of lustrous Cerussite from Tiger, Arizona. This old piece has excellent aesthetics, and the rich pearly luster captures the eye. Most people see a good Mammoth Cerussite so rarely that they are simply unaware that there even is a US locality that produced such fine Cerussites - and FEW such twins, as this. ex Ernie Schlichter collection.

Nice twinned Cerussite with good luster and gemminess. What really make this specimen are the 2-3 mm Mimetites that are as gemmy, yellow and well-formed as you could possibly hope to find, on the matrix under it! Overall, a terrific combination piece.
