This historic specimen is from the 9th level of the Bunker Hill, which had long ago been mined out by the early 1900s but was still accessible to collectors who knew their way around when this mine itself was accessible (now , it is a Superfund toxic waste site, sadly). A local collector went in and found this, he related, in the 1960s. It is an unusually aesthetic and display-quality specimen for a BH cerussite, more reminiscent of material from Tsumeb or Tiger in Arizona than from anywhere else. I am franklys hocked it survived all these years - and if it had changed hands in the meantime I am sure it would be damaged today but it survived unscathed in the collector's home until recently. This is, I think, an important, and unusually fine, American cerussite specimen. Ironically far more were found and saved from the Tiger mine, and yet they go for more of a premium because so many people collect Arizona locales. This is certainly more rare, and yet costs less than a comparable piece from Arizona might (and , even those are pretty uncommon today).

A 1.6-cm-long dioptase, fairly translucent , is perched on a reticulated cerussite here! UNIQUE combination, and the only one like it I have seen amidst a small trickle of specimens from this new mine in the Kaokoveld plateau. Although not quite pristine on very close examination, it looks pristine from arms length, and anyways it is the contrast of color and geometry that so mesmerizes, here. It is , amongst so many Kaokoveld dioptase that hav eno associations at all with them, really surprisign to me to see this one.

This is a colorful cluster of nearly massive dioptase, with admixed cerussite as well. From it spike out gem, elongated dioptase crystals to 2.1 cm! This is one of the few matrix specimens of this crystal style recovered from the mine as yet and who can say whether more will come? This habit of elognated crystals, in such gemminess, is really quite new, and beautiful. The massive dioptase knoll on which the main crystal sits has some evident damage and bruises, to be sure, but the piece is priced accordingly; and the important crystal is not damaged, despite its freestanding nature. It is partially coated on the backside by quartz, which helped to protect it.

A radial spray of pristine, glowing green , elongated dioptase crystals runs across the top of this flowery specimen. The crystals have the gemminess and transparency of this relatively new mine, which will someday be famous I predict. There is some damage to the massive dioptase knoll on which the radiating vertical crystals sit, but this is "matrix" anyhow and does not bother me visually. The brown, vitreous cerussite crystal in the middle is a nice accent. And, for the quality, they are in some ways even better than Tsumeb yet at a much lower pricepoint for a great specimen (for size of crystal but also gemminess and translucency, surely). If from Tsumeb, you really could add a zero to the price these days.

I’ll state up front that cerussite is one of my favorite mineral species. Tsumeb cerussites are generally the standard. This specimen, while essentially opaque, exhibits the incredible adamantine luster found only in cerussite and diamonds. The main crystal is 5 cm tall with great vertical striations that give it lots of pizzazz and sparkle. It is essentially a floater, with only a small contact near the lower-rear. It is, miraculously, nearly pristine as well (given the fragility and softness of the mineral). All in all, this is an excellent miniature.

On a stalk of matrix made up of tiny sparkling mimetite crystals and minor malachite, is a beautiful frosted "trilling," or twin, of cerussite. The crystal is over 5.5 cm across. As one would expect with cerussite, this specimen exhibits great adamantine luster. Crystals of this size and quality from Tsumeb, are becoming very scarce. It is complete all around, 360-degrees, as you can see form the front and back images. The cerussite just hangs at the edge of the matrix, amazingly preserved and pristine espcially considering the size.

This ia a MATRIX speicmen of reticulated cerussite, with incredible visual appeal and sexy aesthetics! The piece displays fully upright and is just breathtaking for its complexity and the elegant positioning of the crossing spokes. It is twinned, though we refer to it as reticulated , as well, for the obvious complexity. As with most large cerussites from Tsumeb, after 30 years and more out of the ground and given the fragility, there is minor damage. However, the damage on the righthand side does not detract visually, though it needs to be mentioned there are some broken spokes there (You can see the contacts when you look close, but they are snapped off cleanly at bases and you do NOT see the contacted spots where they attached, except on close exam). Visually, it LOOKS like a 10k cerussite small cab...but is much more affordable because of damage that frankly most people would not even notice, in my opinion, though I woul dbe remiss if i myself did not note it. And it has MUCH BETTER LUSTRE and glassiness in person than the pics can convey. Truly, it will be like a starburst of light in a showcase. I will make a custom lucite mount for this one, included in the price, to ensure that it can be safely displayed in the optimal poisition.

A unique combination piece from a small one-time pocket, totally unique in Tsumeb mining! This specimen has GEMMY, jewel-like, V-twins of cerussite to several centimeters in size perched ON elongated scalenohedral smithsonite crystals! the smithsonites are colored red by minute inclusions of hematite. Thus, this is unique for the color contrast, the combination, and the visual juxtaposition compared to any other ceru/smith association I am aware of.

A totally unique piece like none I have ever seen before! This remarkable combo piece features cuprian smithsonite encrusting an odd extension of the adjoining reticulared cerussite, and then draping over parts of that crystal as well. Smaller reticulated, gemmy cerussites crowd in at the junction. I think this represents several stages of cerussite growth, actually, in that the smithsonite replaced one generation and habit, but NOT the other which came along in part after the smithsonite casting was done (since little retic cerus nest in the junction - see below). It may have pseudomorphed that vertical extension, as that portion seems all smithsonite and not cerussite. It is a replacement or a cast, at the very least, of that second habit of cerussite. It is extremely odd in appearance, and you just sort of hold it and say "what the heck happened here", but it is very aesthetic as well. Complete and displayable from all sides with just the tiniest of edge wear.

A shockingly pristine, symmetric, radial reticulated cerussite of classic style but with an unusual reddish tint to it! The piece is glassy and lustrous, and complete all around. No damage! Specimens of this quality and perfection are few and far between today, are generally 30 years and more out of the ground, and generally much more pricey. This is a rare treasure...

One of the classic "fragile" reticulated cerussites of extremely fine filigree, from the mid 1970s finds by mine geologist John Innes (so I am told). this is a very distinct form, and style. They are extremely rare on the market for obvious reasons, given the fragility and length of time passed since they were found. This is an excellent piece because it also has a more "normal" v-twin cerussite in association, measuring about 2 cm across. As with all such specimens form this pocket (or nearly all, i Should say), there is minor damage, trivial in context, to some of the more outlaying spokes. But the overall visual impact of this most reticulated style of cerussite is simply mesmerizing and there is little in the mineral world to match the elegance and cityscape complexity you see here. TOO FRAGILE TO MAIL.

Not from the Bruckner Collection, but something I had to get posted soon anyhow...this is a fantastic cerussite crystal from Tsumeb, of a very rare style. The color , blood red, is due to minute iinclusions of cuprite inside. Such cerussite came from only a few pockets, and this is the rarest of styles for the color - a "normal" cerussite twin as opposed to the usual etched, elongated, or melted-type appearance this material usually takes. Complete on both sides, translucent, and just breathtaking for color, this is one of the finest Tsumeb thumbnails I have had the pleasure of handling, for my tastes. It is indeed expensive, no question, but its unique. I had this first perhaps 3 years ago, and was recently able to trade it back from the owner.
