Very nice, bright, arborescent cluster - complete alla round and with great color!
An excellent CABINET specimen containing eight complete balls of deep blue lustrous Cavansite from a classic locality. This would make an important addition to any serious collection because of the isolation and high color/lustre quality of the cavansite clusters. It is much better in person than portrayed in the pictures.
This is one of the finest non-matrix cavansite specimens I have seen: it is a natural "floater" which formed in the pleasing shape of a crescent. Each minutely crystallized, sparkling cluster is intergrown with the next, giving this specimen its unique appearance and form. The color is an intense, deep royal blue, with extremely high luster - THE BEST COLOR YOU CAN ASK FOR in a cavansite and obviously so in person! The individual clusters get as large as 1 cm across. Wonderfully aesthetic! This piece and CM13 came out of a now-famous pocket of such special cavansite that came out around august of 2005 and i bought these two specimens just befor ethe Denver show of that year and then promptly lost track of where I put them til now. These strange floater growths formed in a pod full of minutely crystallized stilbite blades that then fell away with time, seemingly.
Clusters of deep, royal blue, cavansite, have grown nestled in snowy-white blades of stilbite. The largest group of cavansite crystals is a stalactite of interconnected sphereical aggregates measuring over 3 cm in length. It is a floater , really, complete all aroun dwithin the nest of stilbite (that if removed, would make this a floater barbell-shaped cav, to be sure). The luster of both the cavansite and stilbite is super. The extreme color contrast is just amazing. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON! This piece and CM10 came out of a now-famous pocket of such special cavansite that came out around august of 2005 and i bought these two specimens just befor ethe Denver show of that year and then promptly lost track of where I put them til now. These strange floater growths formed in a pod full of minutely crystallized stilbite blades that then fell away with time, seemingly. OUT OF ALL THE CAVANSITE I HAVE SEEN, NEVER HAVE I SEEN ONE QUITE LIKE THIS!
Simply stated, this is a superior specimen! An elegant, curving cluster of cavansite balls, displaying the deepest royal blue color and almost iridescent luster, has grown across drusy, tan stilbite crystals. The largest ball of cavansite is over 2 cm across. In addition, the base of the specimen has a group of lustrous, doubly terminated stilbite crystals, to 1.5 cm. The color contrast of minerals and the 7 cm long, linear cluster of cavansite, easily make this specimen very desirable and FAR above the crowd.
This specimen is simply a great combo piece! Calcite is VERY rare from this quarry, and seldom associated with cavansite even when found. This piece shows off a huge, pseudo cubic, golden-colored, calcite crystal with a wonderful and sparkly luster, perched on a contrasting stilbite matrix. Above and to the right of the calcite is an aesthetic cluster of deep royal blue cavansite, which emits a bright luster. The overall specimen has a wonderful sculptural feel. The calcite crystal, which measures 6 cm across, also has the additional perks of darker edges and, internally, one can see a rainbow effect come out in good lighting. The main cavansite group is 3cm across. The color contrasts in this piece are spectacular! The combination is rare. And the association is aesthetically made...just a very unique piece, overall!
A superb cluster of deepest, royal blue, cavansite, with irridescent luster is perched on a matrix of drusy, tan, stilbite. The color is as deeply saturated as they come. The cavansite cluster measures a whopping 4 cm across and 2 cm in depth. Except for minor bruising on the upper curve to the rear as shown, the cavansite cluster is perfect. In person, you just display it a bit more level with the undamaged side facing you, and it glows and shimmers like almost no other mineral. The piece LOOKS like it should cost a fortune, given the size and quality of the cav, but the minor bruising allows me to get it and offer it at a far lower price and thus it gives a LOT of bang for the buck.
This matrix specimen has a layer of tan, drusy, stilbite, on which are jauntily arranged, several aesthetic clusters of lustrous, deep teal blue, cavansite. Each cluster is about 1 cm across. VERY flashy and colorful specimen!
For its size, this is one of the finest, most interesting cav's I have seen lately of the ball-style, as i call it. It features about 10 of them intergrown to form a rather large cluster winding very aesthetically across the top of this stilbite matrix, and creating a stark contrast! It is pristine and complete all around, and very 3-dimensional. Front and back shots are shown.
One could easily make the case that this specimen is exceptional simply for the beautiful medium teal-blue 5.5 cm string (over 2 inches!) of lustrous Cavansite balls and crystals, and that person would be right. The color is PERFECT - not too dark, not too light! What makes this a bit more remarkable, though, are the two sharp gemmy 4 mm Calcite rhombs embedded in the Cavansite, but quite visible. This unusual association first appeared last summer, and specimens of this kind and quality are far and few between! This is a particularly elegant example, well balanced on sparing matrix.
Outrageously good thumbnail consisting of three dense balls of very fine teal-blue Cavansites, resting on a bed of fine white Stilbite blades. You dont normally find the balls so well-defined, nor the color this good. A truly exceptional thumbnail.
Gorgeous string of at least ten Cavansite balls strung out for 8.8 cm along the matrix. These ‘caterpillar’ groupings are one of the most desirable ways to find a Cavansite, but also one of the hardest to find. This is a superb specimen with great color contrast, aesthetics, and much more 3-dimensionality when seen in person. I think its cheap, because the pics simply do not reflect the quality of the piece and i lowered the price a bit, thus.
Lovely and bright clusters of medium teal-blue Cavansite with a very attractive bladed habit(about an inch, or just over 2 cm!) . This is VERY RARE to obtain, and the blades here are particularly large. Most often, cavansite forms spherical aggregates, rather than showing off the stereotypical crystal form as we have here. One of the advantages of seeing the blades so distinctly is the owner is afforded a sharp view of the superb , almost metallic, luster along the blades. A very interesting and fine specimen that is MUCH more electrically colored, in person! This is a rare treasure, even uncommon amongst so many other cavansites
This is a truly stunning specimen. It is a beautiful cluster of the deepest teal blue that you can imagine - with vivid, almost electric color. The blades are thick, attractive, and very nicely distributed, completely covering a knob of matrix underneath, 360-degrees. This is VERY RARE to obtain, and the blades here are particularly large. Most often, cavansite forms spherical aggregates, rather than showing off the stereotypical crystal form as we have here. This is truly competition-quality and stands far above the typical cav out there. A terrific small miniature, and even better in person!
Very nicely balanced specimen, with a beautiful 2.1 cm , teal-blue ball of Cavansite on just the right amount of matrix. The luster is excellent, and you can see the blade tips sparkle as the piece is rotated under the light. This is VERY RARE to obtain, with the isolated , larger cav crystals sticking out from the more traditional ball format. Most often, cavansite forms spherical aggregates, rather than showing off the stereotypical crystal form as we have here. One of the advantages of seeing the blades so distinctly is the owner is afforded a sharp view of the superb , almost metallic, luster along the blades. There is even a tiny white Stilbite on one side of the ball to add a little contrast. An excellent display specimen without breaking the bank , well-balanced on contrasting matrix!
