1.3 x 1.2 x 0.9 cm. A cute and sharp, thumbnail window pane of transparent catapleiite nicely accented with a siderite rhomb on each side. A gem specimen of one of the most desirable Mt. St-Hilaire species.

Catapleiite, Analcime, Aegirine - Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

3.3 x 2.6 x 1.5 cm. A classic and excellent combination specimen from the famous Mt.St-Hilaire of Quebec, with an unusually robust crystal! This is an old-timer. This is a well-terminated, very glassy, tabular, tan catapleiite crystal is nicely accented by sharp, porcelaneous, 3 mm analcime crystal on one edge and by aegirine crystals included within the catapleiite. A showy and desirable combo piece from this famous locality.

Catapleiite, Aegirine - Narssârssuk (Narsarsuk), Igaliku (Igaliko), Narsaq, Kitaa (West Greenland) Province, Greenland

2.8 x 2.2 x 1.4 cm. From the John Ydren collection, this is an outstanding example of a rare locality specimen of catapleiite from the unusual Greenland mineral deposits. The specimen is a single vertical crystal crossed by aegirines, and fully terminated atop. We are all familiar with large crystals of this size from Canada, but from Greenland this is much less common and it’s an attractive piece, as well.

Catapleiite, Microcline - Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

This is a crude but EXTREMELY large crystal for the species, that measures nearly 5 cm across and is about 1 cm thick . It does have some edge damage on a few upper faces to teh sides of the termination, not visible form teh display face in any case. Still, it is a monstrous single crystal of a species that normally forms thin, flat platy crystals. Thus, it may not be the prettiest one, but it IS up there in significance. The fat crystal sits perched on a shard of white feldspar matrix, standing straight up. It is included a bit (with aegerine?) and so the pictures are poor compared to the specimen because of the way light reflects when we shoot it - in person, it is somehwat included but not as dark on the front as you see it here. 5.2 x 4.8 x 4.4 cm

Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
thumbnail, 2.5 mm

Catapleiite - Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

A superb, unusually euhedral single crystal of catapleite, complete all around (although the bottom edge is stuck into putty here). Most cata's are thin parallel growth jobbies but this pocket/habit is pretty much ackowledged to represent the best sterotypic crystals for the species to date (and hence, they cost more, as well). Small crystals of siderite attached. Thickness = 2.5 mm 1.3 x 1 cm

Catapleiite - Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

A superb, unusually euhedral single crystal of catapleite, measuring 2.2 cm across, nestled in matrix of other MSH minerals including aegerine and pectolite, and perhaps kupletskite (on the back). Isolated single crystals of catapleite, of this size, are fairly rare compared to the more common muscovite-looking style we often see. 4 x 3 x 2.75 cm

Catapleiite, Aegirine - Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

A lustrous, dramatically perched 3-cm spray of catapleite crystals is perched on a crudely terminated yet still doubly-terminated large aegerine crystal! The catapleite displays equally well whether you choose to display the piece aegerine-up or down, by a strange quirk of fate. 6 x 3 x 2 cm

Catapleiite, Fluorite, Epididymite, Manganoneptunite, Aegirine - Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

A choice miniature of this unusual material, because it features several species in aerial agglomeration. The pseudomorph forms the base for the manganoneptunite and Epididymite sprays, and is itself perched delicately upon aegirine-speared albite. This particular specimen also shows off the new find of Epididymite, in the form of shockingly well-formed crystals! There were just a few miniatures of this quality - most were thumbnails. 3.5 x 3 x 1.75 cm

Catapleiite, Fluorite, Epididymite, Aegirine - Poudrette quarry (Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Desourdy quarry), Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada

A choice thumbnail of this unusual material, of which several dozen were available and I picked 4 I regarded as bit nicer than most. This particular specimen also shows off the new find of Epididymite, in the form of shockingly well-formed crystals! 2 x 2 x 1.5 cm

A choice thumbnail of this unusual material, of which several dozen were available and I picked 4 I regarded as bit nicer than most. This one is one of the sharpest crystals, and had the best association with bright red, gemmy manganoneptunites. 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm

1.4 x 0.9 x 0.5 cm. A sharp thumbnail window pane of transparent catapleiite nicely accented with an aegirine crystal on the back. The crystal has sharp, beveled edges. A gem specimen of one of the most desirable Mt. St-Hilaire species. Rare when this clean.
