9 x 5.5 x 5.2 cm. A fairly elegant specimen of stacked rhombohedra, classic in style, from this old historic silver mining district.
6.5 x 5.4 x 3.6 cm. A sharp 6mm proustite crystal glows gem red when backlit, and other clusters of smaller crystals are present as well on a calcite matrix.
8.6 x 7 x 3.5 cm. Unusual, elongated calcites of a style uncommon for this locality. Some crystals are damaged, but most are intact.
7.6 x 6.7 x 4.6 cm. A hefty, handsized specimen of nearly solid manganite with accent of calcite for contrast, featuring super lustrous crystals to nearly 2 cm.
5.3 x 5 x 3.6 cm. A beautiful example of an association from Andreasberg of sparkling drusy quartz upon a large, translucent calcite rhomb.
7.7 x 7.0 x 4.0 cm. An interesting combination specimen featuring flattened, disc-like galena crystals stacked upon matrix, and surrounded by a halo of translucent disc-shaped calcites.
8.1 x 5.5 x 1.0 cm. An interesting vintage-1853 piece with several generations of calcite present. One generation of small, disc-shaped, gemmy calcites has coated a previous generation of extremely elongated "angel-wing" style calcite, making for a fairly dramatic and different specimen from what is normally seen from here.
One of two specimens of this mineral type in this auction, but of a strikingly different character. This one is a rosette of stacked crystals, colored a pretty deep gray from the included boulangerite. 6 x 6 x 3.5 cm
A dramatic and superb Tsumeb calcite of the classic form featuring stepped, highly lustrous, waterclear to white blocky calcite crystals aesthetically set on hematite-tinted calcite and matrix. This specimen is near-pristine and is certainly not your everyday calcite from Tsumeb! 6.1 x 5.8 x 4.8 cm
6.1 x 3.5 x 2.7 cm. An excellent representative specimen from this important find of the late 1880s, with an unusual association of spiky calcite crystals perched atop some manganite tips.
11.2 x 8.7 x 4.3 cm. Beautiful, gemmy, lustrous calcites to about 1 cm cover much of the matrix on this large specimen from one of the world's great calcite localities, in a historic silver mining district.
4.6 x 3.1 x 2.9 cm. Translucent, lustrous, dark tan balls and elongated crystals to 1.5 cm of intergrown smithsonite rhombs placed on a crust of coarsely crystallized calcite matrix from the Berg Aukas Mine of Namibia. The balls look like flower bulbs about to open. Ex. Rob Smith Collection.
2.6 x 2.3 x 2.0 cm. A fine, old-time copper and calcite thumbnail specimen from the famous Emke Mine at Onganja, Namibia. The lustrous, water-clear calcite rhombs are exquisitely wrapped with garlands or wreaths of spinel-twinned copper crystals with a very nice patina. Ex. George Elling Collection.
11.8 x 4.2 x 3.2 cm. A fine, cabinet-sized, lustrous and translucent, amber, fishtail-twinned calcite crystal from the famous Tri-State District of Missouri. One side is deeply notched and you can see the twinning plane on the termination. Ex. George Feist Collection.
2.6 x 2.5 x 2.3 cm. A gemmy and lustrous, 1.7 cm emerald crystal set on a gray calcite crystal matrix accented with sparkly pyrite microcrystals from the famous Coscuez Mine of Colombia. The emerald is glassy, gemmy, and has gorgeous, intense, green color saturation.
