A beautiful "wheat sheave" cluster of elongated manganoan calcite crystals, with an intense pink coloration to them (stronger , richer pink color in fluorescent light as opposed to halogen light, under which these photos were shot). Complete all around, this is from a series of pockets which produced such pieces in mid-2011. Seems that since then, new pieces of this style are more uncommon. I believe these will be remembered as a contemporary classic, as well as for their beauty. The pink, manganoan-rich calcite is fluorescent orange-red under UV light.

A strangely shaped cluster of intergrown calcites, with good pink color. The shape and apttern of this cluster are the result of intergrowth with quartz crystals during the formation of calcite in this pocket, and some of the grooves and straight lines you see on the calcite "stalk" are where it was constrained in growth, we think. A beautiful and highly unusual specimen that is unlike other calcites we have seen from the mine, as yet. The slightly pink, manganoan-rich calcite is fluorescent orange-red under UV light. From late-2011 finds. A little more pink in person than appears here

This is one of the few really large pink calcites recovered in good condition, that we are aware of. Most were small, or big and damaged. This is so different from any other calcite style we have seen - an intense pink cluster composed of intergrown "wheat sheaves" of elongated manganoan calcite crystals, with an intense pink coloration to them (stronger , richer pink color in fluorescent light as opposed to halogen light, under which these photos were shot). The specimen here, which is the size of a large cauliflower and the weight of a bowling ball, is complete all aroundthe front and sides (contacted on the back where it grew against something, and hence a lower price than if fully crystallized around the backside as well), with only a few trivial small bruises or dings. This is from a series of pockets which produced such pieces in mid-2011. Seems that since then, new pieces of this style are more uncommon on the market and I have not been able to buy more. I believe these will be remembered as a contemporary classic, as well as for their beauty. The pink, manganoan-rich calcite is fluorescent orange-red under UV light. This specimen is complete all around. It is 9.5 pounds in weight! It displays dramatically on its custom lucite base. Note also that the pink color saturation seems to be volumetric - in other words, these bigger pieces are actually slightly more rich pink, in normal lighting.

Absolutely transparent, purple crystals like purple ice cubes, coated with a contrasting carpet of thin, translucent, bladed calcites, , really makes this piece stand out. The edges are razor-sharp. This well-balanced miniature is from a one time pocket, several years ago, with this nice association

Emplaced aesthetically on a quartz/dolomite matrtix is a single, lustrous and translucent, JEWEL of a fluorite crystal! It is an exquisitely color-zoned fluorite crystal, measuring 2 cm across and perfect. The fluorite crystal is colored more than one shade of lavender hue, and clearly exhibits a complicated, intricate stepped growth which makes it sparkle. Colorless quartz crystals and saddle shaped dolomite crystals to 1.5 cm in length are also perched on the matrix for accents. 2011 finds.

The COLOR on this piece is just the top, most saturated, grape-jelly purple you can ask for in a mineral specimen! Perched aesthetically high on a matrix of sparkling white calcite, quartz and cream-colored dolomite is a single lustrous and translucent, deeply-saturated crystal of fluorite, measuring 2.5 cm across. This crystal also exhibits classic stepped growth complexity on all but the top, apex faces. As an added bonus, there is an equant, brassy yellow pyrite crystal, that measures 1 cm across, at the bottom - just to have more species on one piece.

A cute, sculptural piece! Cubes of lustrous and translucent, lilac-colored fluorite, to 2 cm across, are perched in a cluster upon lustrous and translucent, white calcite. A few fluorite crystals exhibit dark lavender color centers or phantoms. An unusual locality piece with nice aesthetics, this looks like it could be from Yaogangxian although the calcite association style is a bit unusual for there. Collected 2006-3-10th, and from a prominent and carefully assembled collection of Jiangxi minerals with precise localities.

A very large, lustrous and partially translucent, olive-green andradite crystal, measuring nearly 6 cm in length, is aesthetically perched high on a matrix of white calcite. The calcite seems to be coating another mineral underneath (not sure what, maybe another calcite) which was a well formed, tabular crystal, 5 cm in length and now draped in white calcite. This is one of the larger good garnets I have yet seen from the locale

A rare combination piece with fluorite growing off aesthetic, large lollingite crystals. The lollingites (a species related to arsenopyrite) from this mine are being hailed as best of species material. Spear shaped, lustrous, silvery crystals to 7.9 cm in length host a complex, glassy and gemmy, colorless fluorite crystal ( 2.5 cm in length). A neat combo specimen from recent finds of spring 2012. Unlike most such pieces found, this has dramatic 3-dimensional aesthetics and clearly shows the bladed crystals standing up. Many are either damaged, or flat-laying

A sharp specimen of superb genthelvite crystals of a translucent red-amber color , to 1.6 cm, in a beautiful matrix of calcite. This is a highly uusual association, and I find it far more aesthetic than nearly all the others I have seen (and seldom bought) from here in any size. Many people are calling these best of species material, and when seen in a combo piece like this it is tempting to agree.

This is a highly unusual combination specimen featuring a purple scheelite atop a white scheelite, itself perched atop a large gem-clear fluorite crystal coated with manganoan calcite discs. This is from a very rare find of PURPLE scheelite, seen only very seldom in all the world of minerals over the years, that occurred here in early 2012 (I believe the pocket was hit in march). The matrix is actually a white, fluorescent scheelite, decent example in its own right. The purple scheelite sits atop. Unfortunately the relatively thin overgrowth of purple scheelite is a little dinged on the tip, and has a crack (natural) running through it which is distracting from several potential display angles, if not all of them (hence the price less than i paid for it in China). But the piece is still a very interesting combination and a good white scheelite combo piece, in its own right. Fluorescent shots are also shown

This interesting combination piece was found in the summer of 2012, and has a "drape" of sharp metallic lollingite crystals covering the white scheelite. Mixed in with that drapery of lollingite are sharp, disc-shaped crystals of manganoan calcite that fluoresce orange-red in contrast to the white fluorescence of the scheelite. I saw many examples from this pocket and selected only a few in very good condition, whoch to me showed appealing geometry and/or association.
