5.5 x 4.3 x 2.2 cm. Bright, blood-red, partially euhedral zincite crystals on a matrix of calcite and willemite from the famous Sterling Hill Mine of New Jersey. A showy, highly representative and desirable combination specimen from this famous locality, probalby dating to the early to mid 1900s. Excellent fluorescence on the calcite (pink) and willemite (green). From the noted Franklin collection of George Elling.
7.3 x 6.2 x 4.3 cm. A VERY AESTHETIC Tsumeb specimen of two, interlocking calcite rhombs beautifully perched on mottramite-encrusted, 3-dimensional, vuggy matrix. The pristine, lustrous, and translucent calcite rhombs, to 2.8 cm across, are wonderfully accented by the tiny, water-clear calcite rhomb. CLASSIC Tsumeb material from the Rob Smith Collection.
4.5 x 3.0 x 2.4 cm. A classic, old-time and showy specimen of lustrous, "ruby-red" pyrargyrite crystals on calcite from Pribram, Czech Republic. The large crystal is 8 mm. A bit of bruising is noted, but this remains a highly representative specimen of the species and historic locality. Ex. Harvard and George Elling Collections.
2.1 x 1.6 x 1.5 cm. An exquisite Indian thumbnail of a gem, water-clear calcite crystal beautifully perched atop a lustrous, striated, light amber powellite crystal from Nasik. The calcite crystal is quite complex on this very cute piece from the George Feist Collection #1596.
7.1 x 5.0 x 4.0 cm. An excellent and showy 3-dimensional Tsumeb combination specimen covered with off-white calcite rhombs, very sparkly lavender dolomite microcrystals and dusted with scattered green mottramite. A pretty specimen, visually, especially with the large calcite rhomb set at the top middle and the color variations.
9.5 x 7.9 x 5.4 cm. A cluster of light golden-amber crystals of calcite, with pebbly faces and pyramidal terminations. All of the terminations are complete, and the largest crystal is DT. It measures 8 cm. Very aesthetic arrangement! Ex. George Feist Collection.
11.1 x 7.1 x 4.2 cm. An old Tri-State combo piece - featuring a pristine, doubly-terminated crystal of calcite exposed end-to-end on a matrix of galena, quartz crystals and little chalcopyrites. Ex. Feist collection.
12.5 x 5.6 x 7.4 cm. An unusual old Zacatecas specimen (mined in the 70s) of translucent calcite crystals with a faint green color that comes from inclusions of malachite.
13.9 x 5.6 x 5.4 cm. A gorgeous "scepter" (not in the sense of a traditional crystal sceptre but in the sense of a royal scepter) of calcite - actually, formed stalactitically, with the elongated central crystal capped by a spiky cluster. There is a thin tube that runs right through the center of the big crystal, marking the center of the stalactite. Stunning, is it not?
6.3 x 5.5 x 3.2 cm. A beautiful and gemmy doubly-terminated Calcite with a very unusual phantom down the center, as if it was following a twinning plane. The crystal, which is contacted on the back, has a delicate and complex series of faces that are preferentially clear or very finely wavy. Aside from the contact, the Calcite is almost pristine, with a very few minor bruises. A simple, gorgeous Calcite from an important old-time find from India.
5 x 4.7 x 3 cm. Classic Naica - complex and beautiful Galenas on a bed of lovely euhedral Calcite rhombs. Largest galena is 1.5 cm, and the Calcites are in the .2-.3 cm range. The Galenas have superb luster and beautiful mirror-like to striated faces. Excellent and very aesthetic.
11 x 10.7 x 8 cm. Another classic. This combination piece from the Viburnum Trend has three complete gemmy Calcites (plus two small ones cleaved, that actually add color and sparkle), the largest of which is 2.8 cm and doubly terminated! The matrix is a series of very fine Calcites rhombs and Galenas that completely cover the knobs of country rock. Very aesthetic.
6.4 x 3.5 x 3 cm. One of the famous Calcite after Glauberite psuedomorphs from Arizona, this fine specimen contains a classic penetration twin, well-preserved and lovely. Very few of these in this size have come across my path over the years, probably attesting to both their scarcity and desirabilty. A classic in its own right.
5.1 x 4.2 x 2.5 cm. An excellent combination piece, with sharp frosted gemmy calcite rhombs and highly fluorescent balls of Manganoan calcite on sparkly drusy Hematite The largest Calcite is .8 cm across, and has an incredible set of preferential faces, some water-clear and some frosted, creating a very appealing aesthetic look. A very fine specimen classic for the mine; 1980s era.
7.1 x 4.7 x 1.6 cm. A superb specimen from one of the great localities. This gemmy and clear 0.7 cm modified cube has excellent luster and form. The fine Calcite crust that it rests on has an incredible fluorescence. Simple, elegant, and wonderful in its own way.
