15.0 x 1.6 x 4.3 cm. A very large, very rich Elmwood Mine association specimen. Isolated on the matrix is a very large (3.5 cm) compound crystal of sphalerite, a very deep wine-red, with two smaller crystals nearby. Little rhombs of dolomite sprinkle the sparkly bed of calcite crystals.
6.9 x 6.2 x 3.5 cm. A sculptural, striking specimen from Romania, consisting of three perfect, intergrown balls of sparkly calcite. The only contact is on one of the small balls that are attached to the larger ones.
8.0 x 5.8 x 5.5 cm. An OLD-TIME and showy divergent, 3-dimensional spray of lustrous, elongated, mostly colorless calcite crystals with modified, scalenohedral terminations from the famous Stank Mine of England. A few of the tips are lightly tinted by hematite, which adds a nice accent and color. CLASSIC, pristine material from an old Collection, probably circa late 1800s. Light yellow fluorescence.
11.5 x 8.0 x 4.0 cm. A pristine, 6.7 cm, doubly terminated, light amber calcite crystal with a sharp, interior phantom jauntily set on silicified dolomite matrix and nicely complimented by smaller, DT’d calcite crystals from the famous Sweetwater Mine of Missouri’s Viburnum Trend. This AESTHETIC and EXCELLENT CABINET specimen is from the George Feist Collection.
15.5 x 9.5 x 4.2 cm. A DRAMATIC, OLD-TIME and very fine LARGE CABINET specimen of large vug beautifully lined with sparkly tufts of salmon-pink natrolite and nicely accented by platy gypsum and calcite rhombs on this showy piece from a CLASSIC Czech locality - Aussig, Bohemia. Ex. George Elling Collection.
6.9 x 4.7 x 4.5 cm. An EXTREMELY RICH and SHOWY specimen of bright to burnished, arborescent, spinel-twinned silver crystals aesthetically covering blocky calcite matrix on this EXCELLENT, OLD-TIMER from the less well-known San Fernando Mine on the famous Vetagrande at Zacatecas, Mexico. Accompanied by an old John Albanese, a prominent East Coast dealer, label dating from 1953-1968. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
6.8 x 4.3 x 1.9 cm. A showy and sculptural Tsumeb specimen of lustrous, translucent calcite rhombs nicely sprinkled with tiny dioptase crystals. A classy and classic Tsumeb combo piece. Ex. George Elling Collection.
11.8 x 6.3 x 3.3 cm. A VERY SHOWY and EXCELLENT CABINET specimen of glassy, colorless calcite scalenohedrons and a couple of unusual tabular calcite crystals. This fine piece looks like classic English material, but is, in fact from Arizona! An uncommon locality, at that, the Portland Mine of Mohave County. The porphyritic matrix is the telltale feature. Beautiful, old-time and essentially pristine material from the George Elling Collection. This is the finest, non-Bisbee, Arizona calcite, that I have seen. SELDOM on the market in this quality, from this locality.
11.4 x 7.9 x 6.4 cm. Over the past two years, we have seen a good supply of wonderful cobaltoan calcites come out of Bou Azzer. These have always been prized for their fabulous pink color, and sometimes, good-sized crystals - such as the ones richly covering the walls of the two narrow vugs in this large specimen. These are BIG, BRIGHT crystals, measuring up to one centimeter.
10.9 x 4.4 x 3.4 cm. This is a stalactitic specimen of sparkly calcite that is decorated with three larger calcites, to 1.8 cm, from a later generation of growth. It is complete and undamaged all the way around.
5.6 x 4.2 x 2.7 cm. A uniquely aesthetic Eastern European combo specimen, in that you have a dome-shaped compound crystal of sphalerite which is wonderfully ringed with sharp poker-chip calcites! A bit of natural luck that ended up in a beautiful specimen, like a flower!
8.9 x 6.9 x 5.0 cm. No, these are not bright little red garnets . . . They are tiny crystals of super-sparkly calcite, some of which have inclusions of deep red hematite - giving them this uniquely jewel-like look! What is particularly nice is that the red ones stand out against the surrounding brownish ones, providing a sharp contrast that makes the piece even prettier. Unique and pretty!
12.4 x 8.8 x 7.2 cm. This largish chunk of matrix is richly covered with cobaltoan calcite. Some of the crystals are sheared off at the level of the matrix, but one three-inch area is full of superb, bright pink, translucent, BIG crystals to almost a centimeter! They have perfect form and pyramidal terminations. They almost look trigonal, which would be totally bizarre, but there are in fact 6 faces around the sides if you look closely - 3 of them are small and appear almost as bevels.
14.5 x 12.4 x 6.4 cm. This was one of last year's remarkable Chinese finds - large crystals of translucent calcite with edges that look as if painted by bright, golden pyrite! Alas, they dried up pretty quickly - any you see now are from old stock. This is a large and rich one.
9.1 x 5.9 x 5.4 cm. This is a strange old Tri-State calcite with marcasite - strange, due to the complex stepped form of the display side (much prettier in person - what you cannot see is the high luster, so that as you turn this specimen in the light these steppes reflect and flash). The crystal overall is rhombohedral, but it is as if someone carved steps into one side of it! There are micro-marcasites included INSIDE the crystal. The face look to all be cleavages - the crystal was basically cleaved out of the matrix by the miner (calcite cleaves in this perfect rhombohedral form).
