6.2 x 5.1 x 3.7 cm. An ULTRA-RARE, unusual and SUPERB specimen of a radial bundle of brassy millerite needles embedded in and on a PRISTINE, transparent, light gray calcite rhomb from the famous quarries around Keokuk, Iowa. I have never seen a millerite specimen of this quality and association. Ex. George Feist Collection.
9.9 x 7.2 x 4.1 cm. These are unique and outstanding calcites, with a distinctive orange color, beautiful silky luster and gemmy interiors. This fine crystal measures 5 cm across.
9.8 x 5.6 x 5.2 cm. Two crossed, 4-cm scalenohedral crystal dominate the center of this calcite specimen from Irai. They are translucent, with light cream color - typical of this locality.
11.4 x 6.4 x 5.0 cm. This bizarre specimen formed when gemmy, golden calcite crystals formed inside the natural vug created by a buried shell. The shell itself has been almost completely replaced in this case by a sand concretion, and there is a natural "base" of this sand mixed with small white shells.
6.9 x 3.8 x 3.3 cm. A dramatic, perfect 2.4 cm ball of calcite on a plate of olive-green siderite - with little calcite balls sprinkled across the siderite adding a pretty accent.
9.9 x 7.4 x 3.4 cm. A calcite specimen with crystals of a most unusual form, on yellowish dolomite, from an isolated find at Tsumeb. This fine Tsumeb piece was in the noted Miller calcite collection, and from there passed into the collection of Ed David. So it has quite a pedigree. The elegant, frosty crystals measure about 3 cm across.
12.3 x 8.1 x 4.1 cm. A beautiful and large manganoan calcite with minor manganese from the Kalahari Manganese Fields in South Africa. The specimen is a lovely pastel pink, with little black microcrystals of manganese on its surface. On the back side are spikes of tan kutnohorite. Good Wessels Mine specimens are now very hard to obtain! This pretty piece came out of the collection of Ed David.
5.6 x 4.8 x 3.9 cm. These are really attractive and unique Calcites from a lesser known region in Spain. This rich golden color crystal group consists of scalenohedra with cactus-like "arms" growing from the sides of the prisms of the larger crystals. The crystals have a silky luster and are rather gemmy when backlit.
6.4 x 3.4 x 3.3 cm. Light golden, shimmering rhomb of calcite perched on botryoidal light green prehnite. The areas of dark color are contributed by chalcopyrite. The calcite measures 2.6 cm across.
13.1 x 8.3 x 4.8 cm. A calcite crystal, complete and undamaged, of bizarre form, on a bed of lustrous purple amethyst. The calcite is a compound crystal of cubic forms, with a pleasing, translucent honey color. It is really stark and striking sitting there against the amethyst backdrop! A large and showy specimen!
5.1 x 3.4 x 3.3 cm. A very different-looking specimen of the prized hot pink cobaltoan variety of calcite, from Bou Azzer. Rather than having euhedral, prismatic crystals, this specimen features chunky, tightly intergrown flattened rhombs built up on the matrix.
2.2 x 1.7 x 1.6 cm. A GORGEOUS and AESTHETIC thumbnail of a highly gemmy and lustrous, 1.2 cm, orange-red wulfenite crystal with sharp beveled edges and beautifully upright on calcite crystal-covered matrix from the famous 2002 Red Gem Pocket at the Red Cloud Mine. The Red Cloud Mine is forever closed.
11.1 x 5.7 x 2.9 cm. An extremely elegant calcite specimen from a locality that has turned out calcites in a dizzying profusion of different styles over the years. This is an older one, out of the collection of Ed Harrison. You can see how one of these two translucent crystals, which meet end-to-end, juts dramatically off the matrix.
11.4 x 7.3 x 4.2 cm. Have you ever seen calcite crystals with this bizarre form before? This is an old specimen that came out of the noted Ed David collection, and you can see why he had it. The crystals are like some sort of gorgeous flowers or leaves, gently curved, with lamellar structure. An extremely unique calcite specimen from a little-known locality!
10.9 x 6.5 x 2.7 cm. Irai has produced various types of calcite specimen sporadically over many years. What is wonderful is the great variety you see. This one a single, wonderful large compound crystal, with a pebbly surface and creamy translucency. It sticks up from a matrix that has the usual copper-mineral green tones, but also a hint of purple amethyst crystals and these two colors add beauty to the specimen.
