A very pretty , attractive, "puffball", of calcite with a very strong pastel pink color. VERY unusual and subtle, different than most you see of this species. 7.0 x 4.6 x 2.8 cm
7.1 x 6.5 x 2.2 cm. A combination plate from Guanajuato, Mexico of white, plumose sprays of calcite attractively scatttered with sparkly pyrite-dusted, medium-lustre, prismatic, cogwheel-looking, gray galena crystals on a matrix of tiny gray needle quartz crystals. A fine sulfide combo piece, for which the Guanajuato mines are famous for.
A very elegant, flaring, lustrous calcite crystal of unusual habit! 6.8 x 4.0 x 2.5 cm
A pristine, perfect, lustrous, sparkling, JEWEL of a calcite! Complete 360 degrees! 4.3 x 2.1 x 1.8 cm
A very well-balanced specimen featuring two gemmy, pristine balls of Poldervaartite perched on crystallized matrix. The Poldervaartite measures 3 cm long and 2 cm across, and is pristine and complete, of highest quality. 7.5 x 4.0 x 2.3 cm
4.1 x 3.6 x 2.0 cm. A VERY AESTHETIC Tsumeb specimen of gemmy and lustrous, dark emerald-green dioptase crystals nicely sprinkled on a well-formed cluster of highly lustrous, translucent, whitish-gray calcite rhombs. Some of the smaller dioptases are embedded within the calcite rhombs. Ex. George Elling Collection.
4.0 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm. A dramatic and aesthetic silver on calcite specimen from the famed New Nevada Mine at Batopilas, Mexico. Two, side-by-side, elongated, spinel-twinned silver "feathers" are beautifully upright on the front of the piece, The longest twin is 2.2 cm. Another, very slender twin, 1.4 cm, with a branch is very well-placed at the end of the calcite matrix. Many smaller "feathers" add to the overall beauty of this piece. The silvers have a very nice patina.
6.9 x 3.7 x 3.6 cm. A CLASSIC and OLD-TIME English calcite specimen of gemmy, water-clear scalenohedrons with complex terminations nicely set in gossan matrix from the famous Stank Mine. The large crystal is 2.9 cm. Ex. Charles Pennypacker Collection.
9.0 x 7.0 x 4.0 cm. A CLASSIC and beautiful boxwork specimen of paper-thin, transparent, honey-yellow wulfenite crystals richly and attractively sprinkled with tiny, off-white calcite crystals from the famous Glove Mine of Arizona. The largest crystal is 2.7 cm. Ex. University of Texas at Austin Colonel E.M. Barron Bequest (1960s) and Lloyd Tate Collection. Karl Warning purchased this showy piece from Lloyd Tate in Austin in 1987.
3.5 x 2.3 x 1.6 cm. Choice 1.6 cm sphere of Manganoan calcite crystals sitting on a fantastic bed of sharp, well-defined chisel-point manganite crystals. The Manganoan calcite has a lovely light pink color, good luster, and very nice translucence. On top of that, it exhibits brilliant fluorescence.
3.7 x 2.3 x 2.3 cm. Exquisite ''bonsai tree'' of spinel-twinned Copper branches that drape down over both massive and beautifully crystalline Calcite. The delicate Copper branches have gorgeous crystallization and lovely patina.
3.7 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm. Outstanding Hematite crystal surrounded by a ring of gemmy red Andradites that encircle the base of the Hematite along the matrix. The Hematite, which has a brilliant luster, is 2.3 cm long. The lower half exhibits an unusual and striking stepped growth, while the crystal faces in the upper half are mirror brilliant. The crystal has a superb, almost chisel-like, termination.
6.7 x 5.2 x 4.2 cm. Terrific pocket of outstanding gemmy calcite rhombs. The largest crystal is 1.8 cm on edge, and it sits up perfectly above a bed of equally gemmy and lustrous .8 cm rhombs.
10.7 x 7.4 x 4.7 cm. The accompanying label from dealer Dan Weinrich states on the back "Mined 4-92 - one of best from this series of pockets." This find turned out crystals with milky interiors and complex "cut glass" modifications on the faces. This crystal measures 7 cm, and is complete and in pristine shape. There is pyrite and galena at the base, as well as a smaller, partial calcite crystal. Some pyrites on the side of the main crystal add to the attractiveness. Ex. Feist Collection.
10.6 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm. This is an old-timer calcite of classic form from Joplin. It is LARGE, with light golden-amber color and very sharp scalenohedral form, fine luster, and (unusually for a large crystal from these finds) no dings or bruises at all. Ex. Feist Collection.
