10.2 x 8.6 x 8.4 cm. A complete, doubly-terminated, 9-cm crystal of golden calcite perched dramatically at the edge of the matrix. The crystal has fine luster, and no damage; one of the terminations has wrapped itself around a bit of the matrix rock, but is complete. This specimen was mined in 1992.
7.2 x 5.2 x 4.3 cm. A SUPER combination piece from a CLASSIC and closed locality, the Taewha Mine of South Korea. Very sharp, gray scheelite octahedrons are on massive scheelite matrix along side of a glassy, 6.8 cm, gray quartz crystal. Lustrous, off-white, fishtail-twinned calcite crystals are richly scattered about. The large, capping fishtail is 4.3 cm. Taewha scheelites were long considered to be among the worlds finest, until the recent Chinese finds. VERY FINE, old-time and choice material from the Ed Swoboda Collection.
10.5 x 6.5 x 6.2 cm. An AESTHETIC and SUPERB CABINET calcite specimen from the famed Sweetwater/Milliken Mine of Missouri’s Viburnum Trend. A 7.4 cm doubly terminated and glassy, light amber calcite crystal, with phantoms, is very jauntily perched atop a pedestal of galena, dolomite and other sulfides. Specimens of this quality came out in the 1990s, with very little since.
14.5 x 9.5 x 7.5 cm. A very showy and excellent CABINET cave calcite specimen from Tasmania, Australia. The diverging, cream-colored, drape-like calcite blades are a stalactite formation, meaning, that the piece grew and hung from the roof of a cave. The narrow base was the attachment and growth point on the cave ceiling. Ex. B.E. Lockhart collection.
7.3 x 7.3 x 4.1 cm. An OLD-TIME and showy, two-sided specimen from the famous Copper Queen Mine at Bisbee, Arizona. A 2.4 cm, pastel-pink to off-white aragonite "ball" is aesthetically perched atop diverging, flower-like sprays of lenticular to ball-like calcite crystals, which vary between pastel-pink, off-white to cream-colored. Aragonite is also scattered on the lower portion of this classic Bisbee calcite. Easily around a 100 years old or older and with very little damage. Ex. New York State Museum and George Elling Collections.
5.6 x 5.4 x 2.7 cm. An AESTHETIC Cavnic, Romania specimen of a 2.4 cm, bright, brassy "ball" of tiny pyrite cubes BEAUTIFULLY set on contrasting drusy, white, botyroidal calcite-coated matrix. Showy Cavnic material, such as this, will become a classic. The famous Maramures County mines may soon close. Ex. George Feist Collection.
2.3 x 1.8 x 1.3 cm. A simply ELEGANT thumbnail of a diamond-like, water-clear, very light cognac-colored, twinned and doubly terminated calcite crystal beautifully set on a shard of sphalerite from the famous and now-closed Elmwood Mine. Ex. Rob Lavinsky collection.
4.1 x 2.3 x 2.9 cm. A super bright pink specimen of botryoidal cobaltoan calcite from the past year in Bou Azzer, which has seen some of the best specimens in many, many years. These translucent crystals have wonderful color and a shimmering surface.
6.9 x 5.2 x 2.5 cm. This is an OLD Missouri specimen from Pea Ridge - a group of brassy and bright crystals of chalcopyrite on a bed of calcite crystals that have been coated with a dark mineral, so that they provide a pretty contrast for the chalcopyrites. The chalcos have the jagged form typical for this locality.
3.4 x 2.9 x 2.4 cm. These sharp, transparent crystals, some of them intergrown, have beautiful pyramidal terminations. They radiate outwards from a central point, and the cluster was removed intact without matrix. The larger photo makes them appear dull, but in person, they actually have fine luster, typical of, say, a Dal'negorsk specimen of similar style.
Another extremely unusual piece from this pocket, which Charlie got much of back when it was found. This specimen features brilliant, fiery orange , sparkling prehnites atop a gemmy calcite rhombohedron! It is EXQUISITE and beautiful! 5.1 x 3.7 x 2.0 cm
iNCREDIBLE QUALITY, gemmy , ELONGATE CRYSTALS...SMALL CLUSTER HERE, BUT JUST SUPERB QUALITY AND OUTSTANDING FOR THE REFERENCE OR SPECIES COLLECTOR WHO WANTS QUALITY BUT NOT A BIG OR EXPENSIVE SPECIMEN. The cluster wraps around the top of the xonotlite matrix. 3.7 x 2.8 x 2.1 cm
A superb tree-shaped, 3-dimensional specimen with GEMMY , lustrous crystals of prehnite to 7mm. The sparkle emanating from the cluster of crystals is beautiful, as is the pure orange color. I could not decide which i like better from this or the last one. The previous piece has more color impact, but this has better aesthetics. They both have the best quality gemmy, lustrous, elongated crystals that were found. 5.4 x 3.2 x 2.7 cm
Superb, sharp, very symmetric twinned calcite wiht dusting of minor manganite! 3.4 x 2.7 x 1.1 cm
A very striking cluster of unusually mustard-colored brucite crystals with sparkling calcite for accent! 4.1 x 2.8 x 2.0 cm
