5.4 x 4.2 x 4.2 cm. These came onto the market a few years ago and quickly were snapped up and disappeared. This is a complete, amber-colored, striated crystal of calcite sitting on a plate of matrix with blades of stibnite - some of them poking into the calcite crystal.
9.7 x 4.6 x 4.2 cm. Bright, gemmy orange calcite crystals isolated dramatically on matrix, from Leiping. This fine crystal measures 3.8 cm - no damage or contacts.
5.6 x 4.6 x 4.1cm. Sadly, the mining of these appears to be FINISHED - so if you do not have one, or would like an extra, now is the time. This fascinating specimen formed when gemmy calcite crystals grew in the natural pocket formed by a buried fossil clamshell. Not many fine collector specimens come from Florida, of course!
10.8 x 9.3 x 4.2 cm. Goethite is usually pretty ugly and unexciting, but look at the interesting form it has taken on this Canadian specimen: perfect balls, isolated on a matrix of sulfides and iron oxide! A large and very unusual specimen.
11.5 x 6.0 x 5.0 cm. An old-time CABINET specimen of lustrous, black goethite pseudomorphs after calcite rhombs totally covering matrix. A classic, excellent piece from a famous German locality and the Phil Scalisi Collection.
5.3 x 4.2 x 2.2 cm. An aesthetic, two-sided cluster of glassy, translucent, amber, dogtooth calcite crystals from a mostly unknown locality - the Nkana Mine of Zambia. Calcite is VERY UNCOMMON from Nkana and this is a GOOD one. Ex. Marty Lewadny Collection and in pristine condition.
15.4 x 14.6 x 8.2 cm. Exemplary set of multiple dramatic, doubly-terminated Manganoan calcite crystals. Each crystal has a fine light pink color, very good luster, and intense strong fluorescence. One of the smaller crystals is partially contacted, but it has no effect on the overall aesthetics, which are outstanding and complete otherwise. An unusual, and unique, style of specimen for this locality which came out in the late 1980s.
5.0 x 3.0 x 2.8 cm. A GORGEOUS and AESTHETIC spray of water-clear calcite scalenohedrons from the famous Pallaflat Mine of England. This is CLASSIC, OLD-TIME material, as the mine closed in 1914.
6.0 x 5.2 x 2.2 cm. An EXCELLENT, VERY RICH, OLD-TIME specimen of nicely burnished, dentritic, spinel-twinned silver wires on calcite from the famous Ringnesgangen Mine near Kongsberg, Norway. The longest wire, at the top, is 1.5 cm. Choice material from the George Elling Collection.
3.1 x 2.5 x 2.4 cm. A REAL CUTIE of a gemmy, amber, 2.0 cm, cyclically twinned calcite crystal aesthetically set on a sliver of matrix from famous and now-closed Gralex Quarry of Belgium. The calcite is pristine and it would be hard to design a more beautiful matrix specimen. Ex George Elling Collection.
6.7 x 5.5 x 4.7 cm. A SUPERB and AESTHETIC Dalnegorsk specimen of large, very glassy, pastel-pink manganoan calcite crystals attractively overgrown with smaller, glassy, 2nd-generation, colorless calcite rhombs. These Nikolaevskiy Mine calcites came out in the early 1990s, when Dalnegorsk was still known as Tetjuche-Pristan. Ex. W. Leithauser Collection.
10.6 x 8.6 x 3.8 cm. A GORGEOUS combo specimen, pairing light beautifully beveled and stepped fluorites of light sea-foam green with stacks of delicate poker-chip calcite. The fluorites measure to 2 cm. The calcites and fluorites are so well balanced on this specimen and complement one another so beautifully.
7.6 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm. This is a classic old German calcite from the Sauerland region, with blocky, transparent crystals to 2 cm in wonderful condition, on a dark, contrasting matrix. The trim job is just exquisite, exposing the crystals all around, with no contact or damage. The crystals have pretty striations on their faces, and fine luster. It has been around for quite some time; German calcites of this quality do not come around often.
15.8 x 8.0 x 5.2 cm. This fascinating specimen formed when gemmy calcite crystals grew in the natural pocket formed by a buried fossil shell from the Cretaceous Period. The interior of the shell is now completely lined with these golden crystals! Clams containing golden calcite were also recovered from this find, but these were far rarer. This is a large, exceptional, truly aesthetic example from this find. Not many fine collector specimens come from Florida, of course!
8.3 x 7.6 x 7.5 cm. This is a wonderful Pea Ridge calcite not only because it is nearly a floater of fine, freestanding crystals, but also because the crystals are richly included with hematite, giving them a "classic" looking tint. The crystals measure to over 5 cm, and are doubly-terminated. There is just a small crust of matrix on the back which serves to anchor the crystals.
