An extremely rare specimen from a small find of beautiful , sparkly, fluorite pseudomorphed after calcite. The sparkle is in part due to a an overgrowth of tiny drusy quartz, but the fluorite is also nice and bright in itself. Excellent specimen from the Peter Megaw Collection
Another superb example of calcite from this startling new find! This one features a 5.25 cm DOUBLY-TERMINATED crysatl exquisitely perched on a plate of quartz
A remarkably tapered, golden yellow, gemmy crystal from a small new find! It is very elegant and artistic in style!
Superb example of calcite from this startling new find! It is perched on some crystals of quartz ps after anhyrdite and also has small, sparkling quartz crystals as accent as well

SHARP pyrites draped by lovely contrasting calcite on the back and top. BETTER IN PERSON!

Just a cute locality calcite!

Looking more like a pyromorphite specimen, this vanadinite not only has hopper growth, but, multiple terminations. It is highly lustrous with a brownish-green hue and is wreathed at the bottom by colorless calcite crystals. Truly special and aesthetic!

This fascinating thumbnail is a must for both pseudomorph and Arizona collectors. Millimeter size, lustrous, orange, vanadinite crystals sprinkle the two, sharp crystals of calcite after fluorite. VERY interesting combo!

Very attractive and elegant combo!.

This is not the most expensive vanadinite specimen in the lot, but it is my personal favorite. Individual, barrel shaped crystals of lustrous, translucent, orange, crystals of vanadinite have been emplaced in a matrix of colorless, gemmy, calcite. WOW!

Unusually sharp arseno crystals for the locality!.

Cute cluster of intergrown crystals!

This pastel, pink colored specimen is a really cute combination of pastel-pink rhodochrosite casting over (and partially replacing) several large scalenohedral calcites, all of which is then dusted by a secondary coating of sparkling and bubbly rhodo atop. Small gypsum crystals and a few bright and sparkling quartz points are in association. The piece is just a very unique and attractive rhodo, overall - not quite like any other I have seen. This is an old piece from the extensive collection of geologist Jean Behier, the "founding father" of modern Madagascar's georesources policies and a well known French collector. It came to market and drifted quickly into the Stoudt collection through dealers Alain Martaud and Dave Bunk, where I was stunned when I first saw it some years ago. I had no idea that Mexican cinnabar got so good! These sharp, gemmy crystals (some twinned) are cherry red and perched on contrasting white calcite matrix. You would think they were Chinese, but for the history and some subtle differences in matrix. I have never seen such large and gemmy cinnabars from any North American locale, though you see tiny ones from a few places (Texas, Alaska...rarely). The piece, as befitting its inclusion in this major display collection, is ALSO large and showy, as well as important. I value it highly, in part bsaed on what I paid for it and in part because it is just so obviously frigging important! When one considers how much even mediocre China cinnabar costs, here you have something that has to rank among the best of the species from Mexico, for a fraction of China prices. It seems crazy, how undervalued some Mexican specimens can be. Joe Budd photos.
Thumbnail, 2.7 x 2 x 1 cm What more could you want in a thumbnail specimen? Emerald thumbers are rare enough on matrix, and with such a unique matrix at that I think this piece stands out from the crowd. The crystal has EXCELLENT color, brilliance, and a lot of gemminess to it, even gemmy zones that are cutters. The emerald has one partial crack near the base, though it does not seem to go through the crystal where it is anchored to the calcite and thus indicate a repair; otherwise it is undamaged and complete all around as you can see in the pictures.
