This pristine cluster of frosted, creamy pink colored, lustrous, translucent, manganoan calcite rhombs, is just spectacular. Dating from the 1960’s finds here by its style, this specimen has a dusting of tiny chalcopyrite crystals as well as pyrite. The largest rhomb is 5.0 cm on a side. Oh by the way, this specimen fluoresces a vivid orange on long wave ultraviolet light. I know this is "just calcite," but I believe it deserves high status for the quality not only just for the locality, but for a sharp rhombohedral calcite, period!

An exceptionally elegant specimen of this classic combo! Silver from Kongsberg is already rare enough in good form, but the most treasured pieces are associated with good calcite, for contrast and style! This is a superb matrix piece with unusual elegance and form. It has thick ropy silver wires to 1 cm thick, and can be displayed any number of ways, pretty much from all sides upsidedown or rightside up , with equal ability.

Iridescent, striated, modified cubes of pyrite, to .8 cm across, are nestled down among flower-like, clusters of snow white, translucent, calcite. The calcite clusters average 1 cm across. BEAUTIFUL and stark combination! This is old material, in a style not found in modern mining here.
Golden calcite from India has been on the market for several years ,at least. For the money, this lovely lustrous golden calcite, perched on crystallized quartz is as good as is they get. The calcite crystal is 1 inch tall. In person, those weird black streaks you see aren't so distracting. they are small flecks inlain along natural patterns in teh crystal.
This is a very dramatic piece with a central emerald flanked by "wings" of crystallized calcite. The 2.8-cm-tall emerald is of top color and glassy lustre, and is very large for such a specimen. It is entirely transparent throughout, though with internal veils as usual in a specimen. You can see righ tthrough it to the underlaying matrix! The emerald is complete, and undamaged per se, though it has a small natural contact in the upper-left that is visible (only) on close inspection and does not visually detract. However, because of this very slight growth imperfection, and the fact that I got this reasonably in a trade, the price is about half or a third what you would normally expect to pay for a 1-inch-plus emerald in crystallized matrix of such quality. The calcite is as remarkable , also of unusual size for crystals from this mine. The combined contrast of colors and geometry is striking. Most desirable emerald specimens MUST be on the crystallized matrix, and of the various styles most people consider dark calcite to be the more desirable because it serves to enhance the hue of the emerald. This piece, interestingly, has both dark and white calcite , providing a very neat double-color contrast to the emerald itself.

A spectacular large-miniature combo specimen, with fingers of very lustrous and translucent, light apple-green prehnite to 3 cm in length enhanced by a doubly-terminated, lustrous and translucent, colorless calcite crystal measuring 3 cm in length. I particularly like the way the largest prehnite finger is rotated away from the viewer while the calcite is rotated toward the viewer, making for depth of field. The bottom face clearly exhibits hollow casts of what once were anhydrite. Simply among the most aesthetic pieces here!
