The last of our Leiping calcites, from a back-room of Chinese dealer earlier this year. These are not coming out anymore, and we are sorry to see them go. These large, pyramidal crystals contain phantoms coated with a mineral that makes them glow red under UV. There is some edge wear on some of the crystals, which you can oil out if you wish (we as a rule do not mask wear or other damage in our pics). 12.7 x 11.5 x 3.7cm
Gemmy pink crystals of cobaltian calcite cover this shallow pocket wall. This is from a recent batch of cobaltian calcites, rarely seen in decent-sized crystals with gemminess, that came out and was rapidly dispersed amongst dealers. Get one while you can - they are awfully pretty! 7.5 x 5.3 x 4.0cm
This fascinating specimen formed when gemmy calcite crystals grew in the natural pocket formed by a buried fossil clamshell. The interior of the shell is now full of these fine, golden crystals. Not many fine collector specimens come from Florida, of course! 6.6 x 4.5 x 4.0cm
VERY SPECIAL MINIATURE!!!! Is this not a fantastic copper-with -calcite! You have this wonderful euhedral calcite crystal richly included with copper - and sitting right on top of it, a "tree" of completely crystallized native copper! This is a rare and unique piece from the Onganja! 5.1 x 3.6 x 1.7cm
A recent batch of cobaltian calcites came out of Morocco with large, gemmy crystals - something you do not see often - so we have been buying up all we can find at decent prices from the scattered dealers they were dispersed amongst. Lustrous, bright pink crystals richly fill a shallow vug on this specimen. 8.6 x 6.3 x 4.9cm
A very pretty Tsumeb specimen, a plate of very sparkly calcite crystals, some of which are included with tiny dioptase microcrystals, turning them a beautiful pastel green! Unique! 8.6 x 7.0 x 2.3cm
A specimen of strangely-etched calcite crystals from Tsumeb, with the original form of the crystals showing in only a few places. 6.9 x 5.5 x 4.5cm
Poker-chip style calcite crystals with staggered growth in the faces, included with iron oxide, richly covering the matrix. A few of the crystals have a bit of minor edge wear. 9.5 x 7.6 x 3.8cm
A very attractive Tsumeb calcite specimen, in that it features lustrous rhombs that sit on a matrix of very lustrous, almost wet-looking calcite microcrystals from an earlier generation of growth in the pocket. 9.6 x 6.4 x 3.1cm
A SIMPLY GORGEOUS, doubly terminated, transparent to translucent, amber to orange, and beautifully-striated calcite crystal from the recent find at the Rossi Mine in Nevada. This lustrous beauty is a real keeper. The back of one of the terminations is cleaved, but you cannot see it. It displays nicely and is a surprising piece for this locality. 6.2 x 4.0 x 2.1 cm
Lustrous, translucent, light amber, nailhead calcite crystals to 2.9 cm nicely set atop a sea-green, CABINET-SIZED cleavage fragment of massive fluorite with a bit of matrix. The calcites are good, darned good considering the locality; but the combination of such sharp crystals on this perch is killer! This showy piece hales from an uncommon Washington state locality at Keller. Excellent purple fluorescence. 10.5 x 7.6 x 5.2 cm
Sharp, glossy rhombs of calcite richly included (on one side of this matrix-free plate) by pretty malachite. On one side of the specimen, you see larger, and quite sharp and lustrous faces, and on the other, the malachite inclusions in smaller crystals. 7.4 x 4.7 x 1.9cm
A GORGEOUS, pristine, doubly terminated and twinned, colorless to rose-tinted, glassy calcite crystal from the famous and now-closed White Pine Mine of Michigan"s Copper Country. The dusting of malachite adds character to this excellent piece from the Lance T. Hampel Collection. Hampel was a well-known Copper Country dealer and collector. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON, as the glassyness made photography difficult. 5.2 x 2.6 x 1.9 cm
Lustrous, nearly transparent and colorless calcite rhombs to 1.3 cm richly cover the crest of mottramite-covered CABINET matrix from Tsumeb. Very trivial damage overall. Ex Rob Smith Collection, a noted South African dealer and collector. An excellent, showy specimen. 10.7 x 8.2 x 5.5 cm
Excellent example of this rare form of Cerussite! The red color is due to microscopic inclusions of chalcotrichite. THis pocket was hit a LONG time ago now and just once, over 30 years back. They are extreemly hard to obtain and NEVER have I seen a red ceru admixed with such a nice assemblage of associated minerals as we have here. The Cerussites are very sharp, have good luster, and the largest is about 1.2 cm! They are very nicely accented by the Malachite and Calcite. Important thumbnail piece! 2.8 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm
