This fascinating specimen formed when gemmy calcite crystals grew in the natural pocket formed by a buried fossil clamshell. Most of the shell here is now gone, exposing this flower-like burst of gemmy calcites. Not many fine collector specimens come from Florida, of course! 5.0 x 4.6 x 4.1cm
An EXCELLENT and showy combination specimen from Bulgaria dominated by lustrous, striated, gun-metal gray chalcopyrite crystals to 1.9 cm with transparent, needle quartz crystals, scattered pyrite and sphalerite crystals and a single, flattened calcite rhomb. Very trivial damage, overall, with only a couple points of attachment. Note old Museum label from an Eastern European institution 6.5 x 5.8 x 4.8 cm
Lustrous, translucent and pristine, coloress calcite rhombs to 1.3 cm are gracefully attached to a curved, branching, sparklying, gray dolomite stalactite from Tsumeb. A showy and beautiful specimen from the collection of noted South African dealer and collector, Rob Smith. 7.4 x 3.5 x 2.2 cm
A SUPERB and AESTHETIC iridescent cluster of herringbone-patterned, elongated spinel-twinned silver crystals with nicely attached calcite matrix from the famous Batopilas District of Mexico. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 3.0 x 2.7 x 2.4 cm
A STRIKING CABINET specimen of lustrous, elongated dravite crystals embedded in lustrous albite from the Audrey Lynn Claims in Riverside Co., California. Ex Chris Korpi Collection. Unusual! 11.5 x 7.7 x 4.8 cm
Now here is a very rare and difficult-to-obtain calcite specimen - an old piece from the Black Duck Mine in Australia. It is a fine scalenohedron with stepped growth patterns, complete all the way around and finely terminated. Never seen another. Old collection material 7.3 x 5.1 x 3.2cm
A lone, golden, complete and terminated crystal rises from a matrix covered with shimmering, iridescent microcrystals of chalcopyrite, in glittering blues, purples, greens and golds. A dramatic Missouri combo specimen! 9.7 x 6.7 x 2.5cm
BRIGHT pink VERY gemmy crystals of this much sought-after calcite variety, not at all easy to get in good specimens without bruises! This plate has unusually pretty pastel pink color! My attitude about these cobaltos is to buy them now and stash away. I have never seen them in abundance save for this large find of last year, and i doubt it will last long. 4.7 x 4.5 x 2.8cm
Look at this unique, dramatically SCEPTERED calcite crystal covered with glittering microcrystals!. Irai was known for these superb, gorgeous calcites, and then the supply seemed to dry up. There were hardly any available at the Tucson show last year, and they were overpriced, so we bought none. Then, to our surprise, we found this wonderful cache of new specimens with one dealer at the small Spring Denver Show, and cherry-picked all the best ones. Unlike in the past, the calcites in this batch showed all sorts of different forms - all of them beautiful. 10.4 x 10.1 x 6.4cm
A very showy and fine Tsumeb specimen of sparkly, pink, cobaltoan-smithsonite crystals preferentially encrusting a lustrous, translucent, undamaged calcite rhomb and the bit of calcite matrix. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. 3.0 x 2.4 x 2.1 cm
The last of a very small lot that we obtained of BEAUTIFUL, water-clear and lustrous calcite scalenohedrons from the Bor Quarry, at Dalnegorsk, Russia. This piece is pristine. Not many were available in this quality and the only points of attachment are at the ends of the 3 small prongs at the base. 7.1 x 0.7 x 0.4 cm
An EXCELLENT and showy vug filled with glassy, nearly transparent calcite rhombs to 2.3 cm on a matrix of rust-red, casted dolomite. The bit of green mottramite on both sides adds character. The minor bit of bruising is barely noticeable. 8.7 x 6.5 x 3.0 cm
A VERY SHOWY vug in gossan matrix of lustrous, transparent and colorless calcite rhombs on drusy quartz-coated, botryoidal malachite from Concepcion del Oro, Zacatecas, Mexico. Trivial bruising on a couple of cacite rhombs is barely noticeable. 7.4 x 3.1 x 4.8 cm
Lustrous, zoned, water-clear to cream-colored, doubly terminated calcite crystals aesthetically pepper the faces of a translucent, lustrous, purple fluorite cubic cleavage from the famed Cave in Rock District of Southern Illinois. This showy and beautiful specimen is from the Richard Hauck Collection and the calcite crystals have light yellow fluorescence. Uncommon in this quality. 5.9 x 5.3 x 4.0 cm
A showy and excellent calcite specimen from an uncommon South African locality, the Gloria Mine. Lustrous, translucent and frosted gray calcite rhombs cover the massive calcite matrix. The overall presentation and shape looks like a brain coral. Ex Willy Israel Collection, who purchased this piece from Pieter De Bruyn in Hotazel in 1986. SUPER ORANGE fluorescence! 7.7 x 7.0 x 2.7 cm
