A BEAUTIFUL, water-clear and lustrous calcite scalenohedron with a smaller calcite crystal attractively attached to the side of the crystal. This excellent Bor Quarry, Dalnegorsk, Russia piece is pristine. Not many were available in this quality. 5.9 x 0.9 x 0.5 cm
A showy and uncommon Tsumeb combination specimen of lustrous, brown wulfenite crystals to 5 mm with botryoidal, green malachite, lustrous, colorless calcite rhombs and cream-colored, lustrous, botryoidal willemite on matrix. Scattered broken wulfenite are not very noticeable. 8.8 x 5.7 x 3.5 cm
An excellent, two-sided Tsumeb specimen. One side consists of lustrous, white calcite rhombs to 1.3 cm, while the calcite on the backside is covered with tiny, lustrous and gemmy, yellow mimetite needles to 5 mm. 5.3 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm
A BEAUTIFUL specimen of pristine, lustrous, transparent, colorless calcite rhombs to 1.2 cm aesthetically set on a stalk of green mottramite from Tsumeb. 3.2 x 2.3 x 1.8 cm
Look at how striking this Illinois fluorite is with the spiky calcites against the deep, gorgeous teal-blue of the fluorites! One area of contact, but overall in very good shape despite some minor damages, and a truly beautiful specimen. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection. 6.2 x 5.7 x 5.5cm
Cobaltoan calcites with large crystals are not easy to get, so with a batch having come out of Morocco recen we have been buying them where affordable from the various dealers to whom they were dispersed. This cluster features fine, well-defined crystals with good pyramidal terminations. Some appear to have mysterious orange scalenohedral phantoms inside - likely, an earlier generation of calcite of a different form, with a coating that gives them the orange tone. 6.0 x 3.0 x 2.6cm
This is a classic gemmy twinned calcite from the Verkhniy, but of extremely high quality, or perhaps the highest, and thus a world class calcite in my book. It is certainly the best of its type I have seen, and I am a calcite collector at heart. It is sharply terminated with a thick, 3-dimensional form. It is undamaged. It has glassy, brilliant lustre to it, and it is gemmy as heck...you just could NOT get better for this quality, in this large size range, I think! It is a stunning specimen that, although colorless, really leaps out like a jewel from the disaply case. BETTER IN PERSON! 8 x 4.7 x 2.1 cm
This is a classic, gemmy, twinned calcite from the Verkhniy finds of the last few years, sharply terminated and undamaged along its length. It is transparent in person, and has a brighter lustre than indicated in the picture. It is undamaged and remarkably unrepaired as are many of these larger twins. BETTER IN PERSON! 11.7 x 2.1 x 1.1 cm
Irai was known for superb, gorgeous calcites, and then the supply seemed to dry up. There were hardly any available at the Tucson show, and they were overpriced, so we bought none. Then, to our surprise, we found this wonderful cache of new specimens with one dealer at the small Spring Denver Show, and cherry-picked all the best ones. Unlike in the past, the calcites in this batch showed all sorts of different forms - all of them beautiful. This one has a really different look to it! 6.2 x 3.0 x 2.6cm
I wondered where these wonderful plates of calcite had gone, and then talked to a Chinese connection recently who had some, and told me they were the only ones he had left - and that the mining of them was finished. That is why they have largely disappeared from the market. At any rate, they are distinctive for many reasons. First, the crystals have fine clarity and luster. Second, they have these wonderful pyramidal terminations. And finally, they are sharply phantomed - the first generation of growth being coated with an unidentified mineral that gives them a fine red color under UV light. 11.4 x 8.5 x 8.4cm
A large plate of flashy pink crystals of the very desirable cobaltoan variety of calcite! 9.4 x 7.4 x 2.5 cm
A BEAUTIFULLY spherical ball of sparkly, tan, blades of siderite with scattered, lustrous, transparent, colorless calcite rhombs from the famous Nikolaevskiy Mine at Dalnegorsk, Russia. This is CLASSIC material from this mine, which has only ONE SMALL POINT OF ATTACHMENT and is undamaged. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 3.4 x 3.2 x 3.2 cm
A very showy and excellent specimen of lustrous, transparent, colorless calcite rhombs on sparkly, colorless dolomite from Tsumeb. Green included duftite adds character to this fine piece. 8.5 x 6.0 x 3.6 cm
A RARE, undamaged and NOT DYED, floater cluster of lustrous, cream-colored calcite crystals after glauberite from the 50 plus year old find from the famous Campe Verde District of Arizona. Nearly ALL of the crystals that came to market a number of year ago were dyed blue-green, so this is a RARE opportunity to obtain an undyed one. 4.5 x 3.8 x 3.6 cm
A SUPERB and AESTHETIC, gemmy, colorless calcite rhomb on mottramite-coated matrix from Tsumeb. The large calcite crystal is nearly flawless, with only a micro bruise on one edge. 4.0 x 3.1 x 2.7 cm
