A CLASSIC, CABINET Tri-State District specimen of lustrous, deep-red, ruby-jack, sphalerite crystals and a scattering of calcite crystals on matrix. The gemmy, very sharp, doubly terminated, 1.8 cm calcite crystal REALLY adds character to this old-timer. Ex Ed Ruggiero Collection, who purchased this piece in 1975. 14.3 x 10.7 x 8.0 cm
A sharp calcite twin , terminated on the top end (the back/bottom is a natural contact face where the specimen was removed from the pocket wall), with sphalerite accenting both sides. Sphalerite was the major zinc ore that was the whole reason for the Elmwood. 5.5 x 5.3 x 2.5 cm
That is right, folks, there have actually been a small find of specimens at the classic old 79 Mine, as a couple of miners have gone back in there. I have not seen any more quality stuff lately, though, since the first batch came out a year or so ago. This plate of smithsonite is a velvety, lustrous deep moss green - very pretty - with accents of calcite. 6.8 x 6.7 x 2.3 cm
Two stalactites covered with small Calcite crystals, an oddity from a locality better known for gemmy, amber-colored barite crystals. 3.4 x 1.4 x 1.1 cm 3 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm
A very large, showy specimen of super-bright, sharp galena crystals intergrown with slender, gemmy quartz crystals - with a few calcite twins here and there as a bonus. Sorry there are no good closeups of the fine galenas - they are mirror-bright and measure to about 2 cm across. Extra shipping applies due to size and weight of specimen. 16.1 x 13.8 x 9.5 cm
From a small batch we got from a contact in Springfield - this is not a typical druse, but a specimen of BIG, FAT, GEMMY pink crystals of cobaltoan calcite! They measure up to about half a centimeter, and show fine flashy faces. As you are probably aware, specimens with large crystals are very hard to come by, and often they are really banged up. This has no damage (except what you always see around the periphery where these specimens are trimmed out), and I value this specimen very highly! 8.1 x 4.5 x 3.5 cm
Irai was known for these superb, gorgeous calcites, and then the supply seemed to dry up. There were hardly any available at the Tucson show, and they were overpriced, so we bought none. Then, to our surprise, we found this wonderful cache of new specimens with one dealer at the small Spring Denver Show, and cherry-picked all the best ones. Unlike in the past, the calcites in this batch showed all sorts of different forms - all of them beautiful. 9.6 x 6.7 x 2.7 cm
A large, spectacular, pristine compound crystal of calcite from Missouri. The terminations are all complete, and sparkly chalcopyrite has coated the recessed areas of the crystal, making it exceptionally beautiful (what actually happened is that the original crystal was covered in chalcopyrite, and then the calcite began growing again, enveloping the original crystal in some areas and leaving the chalcopyrite exposed in others – so this is a phantom; you can see the surface of the original crystal about a centimeter inside the later, transparent overgrowth). The crystal sits up perfectly without a base, as there is a flat face where the crystal was on the matrix (a natural contact face). VERY NICE! 19.0 x 11.7 x 8.1 cm
A large and rich specimen full of sharp franklinite octohedra, in fluorescent matrix of calcite and willemite. Classic old material. 12.7 x 8 x 6 cm
Brilliant, neon green spheres of cuprian adamite make these Greek adamites among the prettiest of species for sheer color! Rare in such richness and particularly nice because of the contrast to the smithsonite druse underneath. 7.2 x 5.3 x 3.2 cm
Still one of the most attractive of the Michigan specimens, this fine calcite crystal has the copper well exposed within the crystal (it is unusually clear, and nicely exposed externally in the back. An excellent example of the Copper & Calcites! 2.6 x 2.2 x 1.8 cm
Simply first-class. The pics say it all! 1.9 x 1.1 x .9 cm
Two sharp and gemmy blades of Calcite resting in a bed of deep green dendritic Mottramite that is classic for Tsumeb. This is an excellent combination piece, and therefore a terrific thumb in its uniqueness. 2.6 x 2.5 x 1.6 cm
This is a fantastic specimen of any size. The balance of the piece, combined with a superb gemmy Calcite whose slightly silky luster gives it an incredible ‘glow’, gives this an aesthetic appeal beyond reproach. This is one of the few specimens that causes me to draw in my breath every time I look at it. 2.2 x 2.2 x 1.4 cm
Terrific heart twin from the world’s finest and most classic heart-twin calcite locality. This gemmy Calcite has a superb luster and very attractive striations along some of the faces, with characteristic red color due to minor hematite inclusions. Though complete on front and sides, it is admittedly contacted in the back - you don't see it, and it doesn't matter much to me. Overall, it is a true classic for both the species and location and a VERY RARE smaller sized specimen for the thumb collector!. 3 x 3 x 1.5 cm
