A striking specimen with obvious aesthetic appeal....pricey, I admit, but also just THAT good. 7.8 x 7.2 x 5.5 cm
This has to be one of the best such combo pieces out there, of this rare and exciting combination . These were ound in the early 1990s, as China was just opening up and specimen collection and preparation just beginning to get good. Sadly, what this means is that most such pieces were damaged or destroyed due to improper, ungentle handling or packing. This spectacular display piece, however, is nearly as pristine as can be and despite its size has no distracting issues at all. It glows with rich red color, more so in person> The contrast, though, is wha tmakes the piece so special it was chosen as a Cover piece for the CHINA issue of this journal. BETTER IN PERSON. 9 x 5.9 x 4.2 cm
Exactly what it looks like - a REALLY good specimen of dioptase of the topmost quality, on calcite matrix! Specimens of this quality, are almost unobtainable now and the prices escalate EVERY year. Since no more has been found from Tsumeb in 30 years, they should only keep going up in value as the stuff is quite simply one of the most beautiful things in the mineral world and nearly all collectors really wants one at some point. 6.2 x 4 x 3.2 cm
You would normally expect to find such an excellent twin from a locality such as Elmwood, but to find a specimen of habit like this from a famous locality such a Freiberg is a true find. The Calcite has good luster and great form, and it is highlighted by a complete phantom of a reddish-brown mineral (hematite). This is an excellent thumbnail from many perspectives. 2.7 x 1.8 x .9 cm
Distinctive and very fine combination piece. The Cerussite is the rare red variety, included by ultra-fine Chalcotrichite. The green radial Malachite on the lustrous Cerussite provides a beautiful complement, making this a killer thumb from a truly rare and famous pocket that was hit just once in all the years of mining here. These red ceru thumbnails are among the most impossible to obtain, for any tsumeb suite of the more common species - and also among the most beautiful. 1.9 x 1.4 x 1 cm
It is hard to argue with how aesthetic this lustrous and complex pyrite crystal is sitting in the calcite. For sheer quality, this is hard to beat for a franklin pyrite, I am told. Beyond that, it is an important historical specimen that, I am told, would have been collected in the mid-1800s. It has Harvard #113145 attached to the side and an old dealer price of $275 on the original thumb box 2.9 x 2.1 x 1.9 cm
A very attractive, balanced, display-quality specimen that features two pagoda-like towers of benstonite sticking up from the matrix of benstonite-covered calcite and fluorite. NICE! 6.4 x 5.3 x 4.3 cm
These sharp pagoda-like towers of benstonite come to a finer point than you commonly see for the occurrence, and thus the piece is very dramatic. Small peripheral damage, but none to the 2 largest spikes. Superb miniature, very showy! 4.8 x 3.8 x 3. cm
This is such a cool combination piece - a lovely light blue ball of Calcite in association with some lovely sprays of Hemimorphite crystals. A very fine, aesthetic thumbnail. Haven''t seen one like it. 2.8 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm
This fascinating specimen formed when gemmy calcite crystals grew in the natural pocket formed by a buried fossil clamshell. The interior of the shell is now completely covered with these fine, golden crystals. 5.6 x 3.9 3.6 cm
Irai was known for these superb, gorgeous calcites, and then the supply seemed to dry up. There were hardly any available at the Tucson show, and they were overpriced, so we bought none. Then, to our surprise, we found this wonderful cache of new specimens with one dealer at the small Spring Denver Show, and cherry-picked all the best ones. Unlike in the past, the calcites in this batch showed all sorts of different forms - all of them beautiful. Look at how pretty this specimen is, with the calcites ranged along a thin crust of quartz, and even some amethyst adding a lavender tone. 10.9 x 5.8 x 4.3 cm
A very large, lustrous and gemmy, 1.7 cm, yellow-green vesuvianite crystal nicely nestled in lustrous, colorless calcite from the recent find in Kenya. 5.1 x 5.0 x 3.3 cm
A beautiful and aesthetic specimen of a lustrous, 2.1 cm, royal-blue hemisphere of cavansite blades nicely set on sparkly, transparent stilbite blades from India. The UNCOMMON, tiny calcite crystals on the right side of the cavansite adds character this piece. 6.0 x 4.8 x 3.4 cm

Then, to our surprise, we found this wonderful cache of new specimens with one dealer at the small Spring Denver Show, and cherry-picked all the best ones. Unlike in the past, the calcites in this batch showed all sorts of different forms - all of them beautiful. This one has a profusion of silky crystals with flattened pyramidal terminations, on a nicely-contrasting very dark matrix, beautifully trimmed. 8.1 x 7.9 x 4.3 cm
A very showy, arborescent CABINET specimen of lustrous, snow-white to light gray calcite from Santa Eulalia, Mexico. The very limited damage is certainly not detracting. This is a fine cave formation and the hole at the base of the piece adds character. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnipeg, Canada. 10.0 x 8.5 x 7.0 cm
