A dazzling radial starburst of sharp, GEMMY crystals of calcite (much gemmier in person than the photos indicate) in a 3-dimensional dome shape . There is one cleave on a rear-ward facing crystal and some matrix-included contacts around the periphery, but these do not deract much visually. It is absolutely STUNNING in person! 8.7 x 7.3 x 7.0 cm
Gorgeous pink crystals of manganoan calcite to 3.5 cm, an old Telluride-area specimen that is just about all you could ask for in one of these. Not easy to come by and really beautiful to boot! 8.0 x 4.7 x 3.4 cm
A remarkably tapered, golden yellow, gemmy crystal from a small new find! It is very elegant and artistic in style! 7.8 x 2 x 0.7 cm
A VERY gemmy, glassy, clear twin of high quality. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON! There is a small bit of pebbly texture on the back face, and this comes through in the pics as looking like inclusions because the crystal is so darn gemmy they show through. In person, this is MUCH MUCH better. It is pristine save for a few very tiny dings on the tip which can in any case be "fixed" with acid if so desired. but, they don't even bother me as a calcite collector myself. 5.5 x 2.9 x 1.2 cm
This unusual, sculptural piece is a one-off I have not seen more of. It is a very interesting and 3-D specimen with translucent, sparkling quartz that has completely replaced the original disc-shaped calcite crystals. Interspersed among the larger crystals are thin, acicular green crystals of actinolite variety byssolite. 11.5 x 7.3 x 3.4 cm
An extremely rare specimen from a small find of beautiful , sparkly, fluorite pseudomorphed after calcite. The sparkle is in part due to a an overgrowth of tiny drusy quartz, but the fluorite is also nice and bright in itself. Excellent specimen from the Peter Megaw Collection 8 x 7 x 5 cm
Superb example of calcite from this startling new find! It is perched on some crystals of quartz ps after anhyrdite and also has small, sparkling quartz crystals as accent as well 5 x 3.5 x 2.7 cm
Another superb example of calcite from this startling new find! This one features a 5.25 cm DOUBLY-TERMINATED crysatl exquisitely perched on a plate of quartz. 6.6 x 4.3 x 2.2 cm
Irai was long known for these superb, gorgeous calcites, and then the supply seemed to dry up. There were hardly any available at the Tucson show, and they were overpriced, so we bought none. Then, to our surprise, we found this wonderful cache of new specimens with one dealer at the small Spring Denver Show, and cherry-picked all the best ones. Unlike in the past where they were predominantly sharp scalenohedra, the calcites in this batch showed a variety of different forms - all of them beautiful. This was definitely one of the most unique and beautiful, a creamy, translucent “flower” perched perfectly on matrix! It stands out, quite 3-dimensionally in fact, from the crowd 9.1 x 8.1 x 5.5 cm
Everyone now wishes they had grabbed more of these when they were coming out for a short time, because they are so interesting and pretty - and unique as a combo. The stibnites here have the gunmetal luster of Romanian crystals, and the largest calcite, measuring 3 cm across, shows pretty striations and deep, gemmy amber color. 5.8 x 5.0 x 3.5 cm
A PERFECT rhomb of calcite, flashing from the interior, sharp as a razor, measuring 4.5 cm across the edge, nestled in the curve of the trimmed-out pocket in which it grew inside a geodic cavity in basalt. The calcite looks like a big jewel and is better in person!! 14.0 x 12.5 x 7.0 cm
An exquisite calcite twin, transparent and standing up perfectly on the matrix, with elegant quartz crystals shooting all around and even THROUGH it. The terminations are sharp and complete as you can see. Specimen can be VERY easily trimmed (very soft matrix) to a fine miniature if you prefer. 8 x 7 x 7 cm
Looking very much like cactus growth, this ELEGANT calcite specimen features translucent, hematite included crystals to 7 cm in length. In addition, the piece exhibits chocolate brown color and the high luster that make the find unique. Old material, from the late 1980s - I remember as i owned one when i was a kid and they were coming out. 11 x 6.7 x 4.9 cm
These large, beautiful, frosted pink rhombs of manganoan calcite are from the venerable old deposit at Naica, Mexico. The frosting appears to be a thin coat of silica which adds to the quality of the specimen by giving it a sparkle. The lovely pink translucence, crystals up to 6 cm across, and the sheer perfection of the rhombs, makes this specimen a welcome addition to any collection. Additionally, it fluoresces. OLD MATERIAL, very rare in such good condition for crystals of this size 9.7 x 10 x 9.7 cm
5.9 x 5.4 x 5.3 cm. Intensely purple, highly lustrous, translucent fluorite cubes to 2.6 cm with beautiful, shimmering, stepped-growth faces form an excellent specimen from Musquiz, Mexico. The cubes also have nice color zoning. The bit of calcite hidden in a crevice and on the matrix is a nice accent and adds a bit of amber to the backlit photo. This is nearly pristine, excellent material from this locale. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
