4.1 x 3.3 x 2.1 cm. Without question, these are among the most distinctive, unique and interesting Calcite specimens out there. This piece comprises a few very lustrous, translucent, layered "rosettes" (intergrown rhombohedra) of Calcite with sharp faces which are included by Boulangerite. The attractive "twisted" form of the crystals is striking and the piece is complete on all sides. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
10.7 x 7.3 x 7.2 cm. The fabulously rich silver mines at Guanajuato, Mexico have produced some outstanding amethyst specimens and this is an excellent and unusual combination example. This fine, two-sided cabinet piece is distinctively different, than most you see from any other locality. There are actually two generations of quartz on this piece, which is wonderfully peppered with milky-white calcite rhombs on one side. The frontal face is composed of interesting looking, doubly terminated amethyst crystals. The sharp amethyst terminations are composed of water-clear, colorless quartz. Looking down onto the crystals gives a surreal phantom-like look. Uncommonly very fine material from this famous locale. Old finds, circa 1970s or early 1980s. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
9.9 x 7.0 x 6.1 cm. Two sharp, glassy calcite rhombs, one on each side, are aesthetically embedded in sculptural, unusual sintered-looking matrix from the Tsumeb Mine. The larger rhomb, 5.1 cm across, is mostly colorless and partially transparent. Both ends are included with a bit of brick-red hematite and the top of the crystal is framed with a bit of green duftite. The 2.9 cm rhomb on the backside is water-clear and is distinctively color-zoned. The edges are colorless and the interior is included with beautiful, brick-red hematite.
4.0 x 2.8 x 2.7 cm. A rare and excellent pseudomorph from Germany. A 2.0 cm, sharp, lustrous, brick-red hematite after calcite scalenohedron is nicely set in matrix. This is classic, old-time material from the iron mines at Iserlohn, Sauerland. Rare, today, to see on the market. From the collection of the world-famous Bergakademie Freiberg.
6.8 x 6.0 x 6.0 cm. Beautiful and sharp, hematite-tinted, dogtooth calcite crystals rise up from the massive calcite matrix covered with smaller calcite dogteeth on this fine specimen from the Moscona Mine of Spain. The large calcite is 4.3 cm. The crystals are very lustrous and nicely translucent. The three large crystals are pristine. Ex. Fernandez Buelga Collection.
15.0 x 11.5 x 7.4 cm. A dramatic, large cabinet specimen from the classic, but now hard to obtain, source of San Carlos Mine of Chihuahua, Mexico. Strongly hoppered, butterscotch-colored vanadinite prisms to 3.8 cm richly cover the banded matrix and are strikingly overgrown with cream-colored calcite. The isolated clusters have a distinctive flowstone-look in one view. This is a rare, large combination specimen in this quality and crystal form. These came out in the 1960s and 1970s, with none since. Ex. Evan Jones Mexico Collection.
17.0 x 10.5 x 9.5 cm. Two glassy and gemmy, light amber, complex calcite rhombs to 3.4 cm are very aesthetically placed in this superb large cabinet specimen from Jalgaon. These rhombs rest on a large, 4.0 cm, brown calcite rhomb partially hidden by the amber rhombs and a coating of small stilbite blades. The well-prepared, large basalt vesicle is lined with sparkly quartz crystals, with a rich sprinkling of small stilbite blades on the floor of the vug. The gemmy rhombs have excellent color, glassiness and crystal form - and are very artistically set in the natural cavity.
10.3 x 7.8 x 4.2 cm. Vibrant, glassy, powder-blue aurichalcite richly and beautifully covers one side of the banded gossan matrix on this beautiful, older, cabinet combination specimen from the historic Mina Ojuela. The aurichalcite on the front is nicely accented with sparkling, glassy, disc-like calcite crystals. The old label accompanying the piece identified these as gypsum and hemimorphite crystals, they are so bright. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
6.6 x 4.4 x 3.8 cm. Fluororichterite is a very rare amphibole group species. This fine combination specimen is from the well-known Earle’s Farm occurrence in Ontario. Brilliant, grayish-black, preferentially striated fluororichterite prisms are set in contrasting calcite matrix. The prominent large crystal in front is 4.7 cm and is doubly terminated, with no damage. Highly representative combo material from this noted locale.
7.4 x 4.8 x 3.4 cm. Edingtonite is a rare barium zeolite group species. Lustrous, prismatic, white edingtonite crystals to 4 mm are festooned on the sculptural matrix of blocky, lustrous, yellowish calcite rhombs from this well-known locality in British Columbia, Canada. Collected in 1980, according to the label. A very rich, showy and highly representative combination material from this locale.
5.9 x 5.7 x 2.6 cm. A fine specimen of radiating sprays of flat-lying, highly lustrous, acicular, deep wine-red kermesite crystals on calcite-covered massive sulfide matrix from a classic locale - Pezinok, Slovakia. The crystals reach 2.3 cm on this piece, making for excellent material for the species and locality. Color is obvious without need for fancy lighting, and the contrasting matrix is most unusual. This is a very attractive piece with large crystals for the locale...and rare on the market today, as well.
6.8 x 6.8 x 5.8 cm. A classic and beautiful combination specimen from Elk Creek. Two gemmy and lustrous, cognac-colored baryte crystals to 2.7 cm are aesthetically set on upright matrix of amber calcite rhombs. It is essentially pristine.
4.6 x 3.2 x 2.8 cm. A very nice three-sided combination miniature from the Tsumeb Mine. The mounded piece is totally covered on one side with super-sparkly, gemmy, emerald-green dioptase crystals. The dioptase crystals are nicely discrete on the other side and are beautifully accented by a 6 mm calcite rhomb. This side and the base reveal the silky lustre, pink cobaltoan smithsonite botryoids of the matrix. Two sides are further accented with contrasting pastel-green duftite. Ex. Wes Parker Collection.
4.9 x 3.7 x 1.2 cm. A 1.8 cm, gorgeous, beautifully burnished, curved and curled, silver wire is very aesthetically set on a matrix plate of light gray calcite and accented with iridescent bornite on this most excellent specimen from the less well-known Sabino Mine of Zacatecas. A classic and very fine Zacatecas silver combination specimen from the Wes Parker Collection.
10.2 x 5.9 x 4.2 cm. A dramatic and unusual, cabinet calcite specimen from recent finds in China and the Jesse Fisher Collection. These highly glassy, translucent, poker-chip calcite crystals have unusual, "Mercedes star", banded inclusions of iron oxides. The striking large poker-chip is 5.0 cm across. Ex. Jesse Fisher Collection.
