7.0 x 4.3 x 3.7 cm. A pristine, lustrous and translucent, 6.8 cm, doubly terminated, amber calcite crystal is attached to crystallized, dolomitic limestone dusted with chalcopyrite and galena micrcrystals. Excellent, highly representative material from the Sweetwater Mine and the George Feist Collection # 3085.
6.8 x 4.7 x 3.2 cm. A fine combination specimen from recent finds at the Mashamba West Mine of Zaire. Lustrous, vivid pink cobaltoan calcite rhombs are richly covered with sparkling, primary malachite microcrystals.
10.0 x 4.3 x 4.0 cm. A striking new find from the Mina Ojuela of Mexico. Vivid, powder-blue aurichalcite, either as free-standing, lustrous fibrous/needle clusters or included in transparent, water-clear calcite rhombs, totally line the vug in the sturdy gossan matrix.
14.0 x 9.0 x 3.9 cm. A fine cabinet combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon, India. "Gems" of lustrous, transparent to translucent, brown-tinted, calcite rhombs, glassy, colorless, apophyllite crystals and a single, pearlescent, tan, bladed stilbite crystal cluster are aesthetically scattered on the elongated, bowl-shaped vug lined with contrasting, green celadonite. Many of the apophyllite crystals are perched on the calcite rhombs for added effect.
8.4 x 5.9 x 4.4 cm. An unusual and uncommon Tsumeb combination specimen. This pristine and complete-all-around, very vuggy specimen features nests of sharp calcite rhombs preferentially coated with pastel-green duftite on a starkly contrasting, sintered-looking matrix of quartz covered by sulfides. Quartz is relatively uncommon from Tsumeb. Ex. Rob Smith Collection.
These Australian calcites are just STUNNING in their gemmy clarity, approaching those from Herkimer in clarity and similar in their form. This specimen features a BIG 6-cm crystal, sharp and lustrous as glass, with four accenting smaller crystals. The big crystal sits on top, with the crystals along the bottom creating a perfect base for it. Wonderful and really pretty! 8 x 8 x 5.5 cm
9.0 x 8.3 x 5.8 cm. A "gem", this is a jewel-like 2.1 x 2.0 cm, complex, colorless calcite rhomb. It is beautifully set in a very well-placed, 6.0 cm vug lined with smaller calcite crystals on a sculptural limestone matrix. This is a classic, fine, old-time piece from the Joplin Field of the Tri-State District. Ex. University of Missouri and George Feist Collection # 2300.
4.5 x 2.6 x 2.5 cm. Gemmy and lustrous, emerald-green dioptase crystals on glassy, calcite rhombs.
16.5 x 16.0 x 10.7 cm. This fascinating large cabinet specimen was formed when gemmy calcite crystals grew in the natural pockets formed by buried fossil clamshells. The interior of the two shells now contain fine, gemmy, golden crystals. The large, nearly completely exposed mollusk is 10.0 cm. Very few of these specimens are on matrix, fewer still have the size and double-barreled bonus of two shells encased in matrix. This is Pleistocene Epoch (1.8 MY - 10,000 years BP) Mercenaria species.
21.5 x 17.8 x 15.0 cm. A spectacular, large cabinet, jagged "mountain range" of sharp, gemmy, golden-amber tipped calcite crystals. The lower "slopes" of the peaks are covered with "snow" (colorless calcite). The golden tips to the very glassy calcite crystals, which measure up to 17 cm long, add character to this fine piece. This is a complete-all-around crystal cluster.
7.8 x 5.1 x 4.3 cm. A very elegant combination specimen from the Sweetwater Mine of Missouri’s Viburnum Trend. A perfect, glowing, 5.6 cm, doubly terminated, light amber calcite crystal is perched on the crest of an octahedral galena crystal. The compound octahedra reach 3.3 cm and are richly accented with sparkly, golden chalcopyrite and pastel-pink dolomite microcrystals. This is superb older material from the Dr. Gary Hansen Collection and dates the l970s to early 1980s. Octahedral galena is not that common from the Sweetwater Mine.
3.9 x 3.7 x 3.5 cm. Gemmy and lustrous, interpenetrant, golden-amber calcite crystals set on a bit of matrix. This beautiful piece is complete-all-around and has excellent amber color. A couple of the faces are preferentially frosted. These calcites from the Sokolovskiy Mine of Kazakhstan came out in the early 1990s. Highly representative of the species and famous find.
13.1 x 5.3 x 1.7 cm. A striking cabinet specimen of gemmy and lustrous, vivid pink cobaltoan calcite rhombs covering the elongated matrix plate of this incredible specimen from recent finds at the Aghbar Mine at Bou Azzer, Morocco. The crystals have amazing saturation of color and the rhombs reach 9 mm on the diagonal.
11.3 x 9.1 x 5.2 cm. This fluorite cluster is 6 cm across and looks like a floating city, impaling itself on the quartz. The freestanding fluorite is complete all around the top and sides, only contacted a little on the lower backside. It is translucent, and pristine on all the faces. The sharp steppes are highlighted by a thin, intense purple phantom at all edges. The fluorite is perched on the quartzes, which are also totally pristine and perfect. A sprinkling of sharp brown, translucent scheelite octahedra, mixed with small bladed white calcites, overlays the rear of the quartz terminations and the valleys between the quartz and the fluorite itself. Scheelite, of course, is quite rare for this mine. Found in 2006.
4.3 x 3.9 x 2.5 cm. Absolutely transparent, purple crystals like purple ice cubes, coated with a contrasting carpet of thin, translucent, bladed calcites, really makes this piece stand out. The edges are sharp. This fine miniature is from a one time pocket, several years ago, with this nice association.
