7.5 x 6.0 x 5.5 cm. A classic, old-time, complete-all-around specimen of sceptered calcite from the Blackstone Mine, Shullsburg, Wisconsin. The grayish-tan scalenohedron is abundantly overgrown with lustrous 1 mm - 1.7 cm rhombohedral calcites in parallel stair-stepped growth. The scalenohedron is capped by a transparent and lustrous, 6.0 x 5.5 cm, complex rhombohedral calcite crystal, which makes for a spectacular sceptered calcite specimen with a striking phantom. Ex. Dr. Gary Hansen Collection.
7.4 x 6.9 x 3.5 cm. A very unusual and uncommon intergrown calcite formation from the mines at Guanajuato, Mexico. The very glassy, colorless crystals are nearly transparent and are very blocky, tabular, have pseudo-hexagonal shape and have strange raised edges all around their perimeters. The large crystal is 4.3 cm.
8.4 x 7.2 x 5.3 cm. An impressive, 5.0 cm, translucent, lustrous, golden-amber, compound calcite crystal set on mounded matrix from the Berry Materials Quarry at North Vernon, Indiana. The blocky form of this complete all-around and nearly pristine crystal is striking. Classic material from this well-known locale. Ex. Jaime Bird Collection.
3.6 x 3.2 x 2.8 cm (largest). A fine 5-piece set of calcite crystals from an uncommon Mexican locale - Abasolo, Durango. All 5 of the pieces have butterfly-twinned calcite crystals on them. The smallest thumbnail is a fine butterfly-twin. The other twins are nicely set with scalenohedral or blocky calcite crystals. These came from a find around 7 years ago and all of the calcites have distinctive "silky" lustre. Ex. Dave Stoudt Collection.
7.9 x 4.8 x 4.8 cm. An old-time, classic copper in calcite specimen from Michigan. The curved vug if filled with glassy and lustrous, copper in scalenohedral calcite crystals to 1.1 cm. Certainly around 100 years old. Ex. Jaime Bird Collection.
5.8 x 3.0 x 2.4 cm. A spectacular single crystal of classic style, from the late 1800s in England. This was in the Richard Barstow collection until his early passing. Crystals of this complex and beautiful habit, in such excellent condition, represent the apex of what the collector could hope to find from this location. The crystal is complete all around, close to pristine, and just riveting for clarity and lustre.
11.3 x 5.7 x 3.4 cm. This strange specimen features multilayered balls of concentrically grown calcite or perhaps aragonite, on basalt.
A remarkably pretty Tsumeb dioptase specimen, not just because of the brightness and isolation of the dioptase crystals themselves (to 1 cm), but because of the perfect calcite rhomb perched at the top of the specimen. 5.1 x 4.4 x 3.6 cm
From recent finds in Australia, these are sharp, super-gemmy and lustrous calcites that sit right up on the matrix and really glow. Wonderful glassy faces and superb clarity! 7.8 x 5.5 x 3.2 cm
A showy Batopilas silver etched from calcite with beautiful herringbone and spinel-twinned crystal shapes. This piece has multiple viewing angles and three are given. Ex Buranek Collection. 7.5 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm
9.0 x 8.7 x 3.1 cm. A sculptural specimen from the Elmwood Mine. Glassy calcite crystals, some doubly terminated, and two clusters of ruby-jack sphalerite crystals are aesthetically scattered on the naturally fractured plate of silicified limestone, that is covered with sparkly, drusy quartz crystals. Quartz is really not that common from Elmwood, so this is an exceptional combination piece. Ex. Mullane Collection.
2.2 x 1.7 x 1.7 cm. A fine thumbnail of three intergrown balls of very glassy and gemmy, rose-brown to tan, elongated orthorhombic crystals of olmiite aesthetically perched on a glassy, colorless calcite rhomb from the new Fall 2008 find at famous N’Chwaning II Mine of South Africa.
7.8 x 5.8 x 5.2 cm. A large, 5.0 x 4.2 cm, translucent, colorless to light pastel-pink, calcite rhomb with internet, minute, stepped-growth faces perched on sulfide matrix with quartz from Guanajuato, Mexico. Classic material from this famous locale.
4.3 x 3.5 x 2.6 cm. Highly lustrous, blocky, caramel-colored wulfenite crystals to 1.0 cm are aesthetically scattered on the 3-dimensional, starkly contrasting, snow-white calcite matrix on this fine specimen from the Erupcion Mine at Los Lamentos, Mexico. Ex. Consie Prince dealer stock.
15.2 x 1.8 x 1.4 cm. A stunning, large cabinet calcite stalactite from Naica, Mexico. This complete-all-around and pristine spire is totally covered with very sparkly, translucent, tiny, brown calcite rhombs. A few larger rhombs, including the one at the tip, add character. A classic cave calcite from this famous locale. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
