8.8 x 8.5 x 4.4 cm. This specimen is exceptional simply for the beautiful medium teal-blue 5.5 cm string (over 2 inches) of lustrous Cavansite balls and crystals. The color is perfect - not too dark, not too light. What makes this a bit more remarkable, though, are the two sharp gemmy 4 mm Calcite rhombs embedded in the Cavansite, but quite visible.
7.4 x 5.4 x 4.5 cm. Two tightly intergrown crystals of calcite from Illinois, in pristine condition, with a beautiful golden transparency that comes through better in person, like sparkling champagne under good light. No bruises or contacts, and wonderful luster. You can see purple fluorite on the bottom attachment face.
8.8 x 5.8 x 3.1 cm. A rare specimen of Italian botryoidal calcite, actually quite aesthetic in addition to being uncommon. Several dozen translucent yellow balls are set against dark volcanic basalt. From Montalto di Castro, about 90 km northwest of Rome.
3.4 x 3.4 x 1.8 cm. Bou Azzer has been producing fine cobaltoan calcites over the past few years. These are large crystals, with wonderful pastel-pink color, that stand well up off the matrix.
3.8 x 3.8 x 2.8 cm. This fascinating specimen formed when gemmy calcite crystals grew in the natural pocket formed by a buried fossil clamshell. The interior of the shell is now completely covered with these fine, golden crystals. Not many fine collector specimens come from Florida.
5.0 x 4.9 x 3.8 cm. A cluster of cuboctahedrons of fluorite with glass-like windows into their water-clear interiors, framed by frosty purple faces. Really different and beautiful. The fluorites are accented by calcites, including a pretty horizontal column of poker-chip crystals.
5.6 x 4.4 x 2.8 cm. This rich cluster of calcite rhombohedrons is lit up by tiny crystals of dioptase both on the surface of, and included inside, the calcites. Classic material from the Tsumeb Mine.
20.4 x 15.4 x 8.4 cm. A huge specimen of pretty pale pink manganoan calcite - a 3-dimensional dome of crystals - out of the personal collection of Arizona specialist Evan Jones. These are shimmering, fibrous-looking, roughly scalenohedral crystals that look on close inspection as though they have thousands of tiny sub-terminations.
13.5 x 10.8 x 5.4 cm. This calcite gets its coloration from rich inclusions of hematite. A second generation of larger crystals (to 2.5 cm), with super luster, are contrasted against a field of small, duller crystals that provide a pretty backdrop.
10.9 x 8.9 x 8.8 cm. A large, spectacular calcite specimen out of the collection of Willy Israel, from the Tsumeb Mine, which turned out calcites in an amazing array of beautiful forms, but rarely as a ball like this. The ball is actually made up of dozens of densely intergrown, individual crystals. The label accompanying the piece shows Willy Israel to have purchased it from dealer of African minerals C.S. Queit 23 years ago.
Three graduated-in-size red inesite balls aesthetically set on a crust of contrasting xonotlite on matrix. The largest is 2.5 cm and is complete on front (though contacted on back). Now, they aren't as red or as lustrous as Wessels mine material but these are a lot more rare and date back further, rom the mid-1970’s. 6 .0 x 5.5 x 4.3 cm
A sharp, lustrous, transparent to translucent blue barite blade nicely set on sugary calcite matrix from the mid-1980’s find. The crystal is unusually thick and exceptionally gemmy! Nice! 5.0 x 3.4 x 2.0 cm
A beautiful and aesthetic cockscomb of spinel-twinned silver crystals jutting out of white calcite matrix. 3.0 x 2.1 x 0.9 cm
A beautiful, lustrous and transparent amber doubly-terminated calcite crystal aesthetically perched on a blade of marcasite-specked calcite from the Elmwood Mine. With the recent mine closing, specimens of this quality are becoming harder to obtain. Tiny little contact on smaller term, otherwise perfect! 2.8 x 2.2 x 2.2 cm
4.6 x 3.3 x 2.5 cm. A sharp, complete all-around, translucent, lustrous, hexagonal, honey-brown calcite crystal aesthetically impaled on a shard of matrix from recent finds at the Shangbao Mine of China. Highly representative of this classic form.
