This is a superb specimen of a highly sought-after species. The 7mm cube, set aesthetically on matrix, is lustrous, well-formed, and the classic deep blue. You would be hard-pressed to find a Boleite this good these days. This is a superlative specimen for the species, for a matrix thumbnail in particular. Mined by Larson and Swoboda in the late 1970's.

A HUGE BOLEITE crystal, of a size that is seldom reached, 1 square centimeter on the display face! It is complete also on the back, and is thus a floater crystal. This is from the 1970s finds here, after Bill Larson and Ed Swoboda rediscovered the 1890's-era locality. Formerly in the collection of and with label of Willard Perkins, the collector who invented the so-called "Perky Box" for thumbnails.

Boleite, for its sharp blue cubes and weird silver chemistry, is one of those oddball mineral species that just seems "fake" when you look at them. How can a silver species be blue, and sharply cubic like this, and only come from one place in the world in such quality?! This remarkable large display-sized boleite specimen is something you do not see every day. Al Ordway, the previous owner, got it in turn directly from Ed Swoboda (who is in his 90s now) after the famous find in 1976. This matrix is stabilized on most specimens from that find but NOT on this piece! This piece, in contrast to darn near all the boleite matrix pieces out there, has solid, real matrix and not dried kaolin clay (like mud). The crystals are NOT glued in . These crystals reach 6 mm and there are a lot of them scattered about. Overall, an important and relatively large, display specimen of this very rare silver species. ex Al Ordway collection. A full miniature, precisely two inches tall. The rarest habit of boleite is this modified , complex, style...and these are superb examples, which reach 1 cm and are all just razor sharp.  It has glued to its backside a label from Wendell Wilson's original collection, which he sold in the early 1980s (paying for grad school , i think). He in turn, got it direct from Larson and Swoboda when mined in 1976 or thereabouts. It went from Wendell to the Minettes and remained there until Jim Minettes' death and the sale of that collection a few years ago - I purchased it at that time. A superb miniature of the rarest style for this unique silver species mineral

There is nothing quite like the electric blue of a good Boleite. In this case, the cubes (up to .5 cm) have a deep blue color, superb luster that is better than the norm, and modified corners that are very attractive and equally unusual. 3 crystals are pristine, one is rough (but can be popped out if you wish). For my money, this is one of the better Boleites that I have come across for the aesthetics, richness, and price range combination. Collected in the mid-1970s by Bill Larson and Ed Swoboda.

4.8 x 3.6 x 1.7 cm. Lustrous, indigo-blue boleite cubes to 5 mm aesthetically scattered on contrasting gypsum matrix from the famous Amelia Mine at Santa Rosalia, Mexico. This is CLASSIC, OLD and uncommon material, NOT on the usual stabilized clay matrix! Old material form the 1970s finds.

0.9 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm (largest). A SUPER GROUP DEAL of 97 indigo-blue boleite cubes to 6 mm (2 cubes to 6 mm) from the personal collection of Ed Swoboda, who spearheaded the 1975 mining effort at the famous Amelia Mine at Boleo. Some of these have edge wear, but many do not. All have good color and nearly all are complete. There are a couple of composite crystal groups with a bit of matrix (largest).

5.2 x 4.2 x 3.0 cm. A RICH, showy and uncommon combination specimen from the famous Amelia Mine of blue-green atacamite richly surrounding a well-placed cluster of lustrous, navy-blue boleite cuboctahedrons on stabilized clay matrix. This piece, from Ed Swoboda’s personal stash, while not particularly great looking, is RARE and desirable, because of the uncommon cuboct boleites and the richness of the atacamite.

0.6 x 0.6 x 0.5 cm (largest xl). A SUPER GROUP of 11 indigo-blue boleite cubes to 6 mm from the personal collection of Ed Swoboda, who spearheaded the 1975 mining effort at the famous Amelia Mine at Boleo. 4 of the boleites even have attached gypsum matrix, with the one piece having sharp faces. Neat! A few have edge wear, but most do not. All have good color and nearly all are complete. These came directly from Ed’s garage to me around the time he turned 90. He is still mining, though this remains one of his great finds to this day.

Boleite - Amelia Mine, Santa Rosalía (El Boleo), Boleo District, Mun. de Mulegé, Baja California Sur, Mexico

0.6 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm. A beautiful and lustrous, 6 mm, color-zoned boleite cube from the famous Amelia Mine at Boleo, Mexico. Most boleites are pretty much monochromatic. But this striking cube has royal-blue, almost electric-blue, edges and corners with centers being the more normal indigo or deep blue. Unusual, rare and highly representative, not withstanding one lightly bruised corner.

Boleite - Amelia Mine, Santa Rosalía (El Boleo), Boleo District, Mun. de Mulegé, Baja California Sur, Mexico

1.1 x 1.0 x 0.7 cm. Boleites are just so doggoned hard to find for sale; there were never that many in the first place. First identified here at the type locality in the copper mining district of Baja California, they are pseudocubic twins that form these sharp cubes with gorgeous blue color (chemical formula Pb26Cu24Ag10Cl62(OH)48 - 3H2O). This is a pretty decent size for one of these rare crystals. The display side shows three interpenetrating cubes with high luster; the back is a concave contact.

0.8 x 0.8 x 0.8 cm. A HISTORIC, OLD-TIME boleite cube from the Larry Conklin Collection. A lustrous, 8 mm, indigo-blue boleite cube lies within a cotton-lined and corked test tube. Two sides and an edge of the boleite are partially contacted on the back, but are not a detraction. The crystal comes with a French Foote Mineral Company label, which dates from 1900 to 1904, when they had a Paris office. This suggests that Foote obtained the specimen for one of his customers (presumably a special one!) from Eduard Cumenge who would have only a few years earlier returned with his finds to the Sorbonne for study and to deposit them in the collections there. A well-documented, CLASSIC, old-timer, when the famous mines at Boleo were active and operated by the French.

This excellent specimen is from the personal stash of Ed Swoboda, a partner in the well-known mid-1970s effort to mine boleites at the Amelia Mine.
