D10-91 - Bindheimite ps. After Bournonite (formerly Wolchite) - $ 2000 SOLD Wolch, St Gertraud, Wolfsberg, Lavant valley, Carinthia, Austria small cabinet, 6.0 x 5.2 x 4.6 cm
This is a very old specimen from the noted classics collection of Phil Scalisi, featuring floating crystals of bournonite replaced by the related lead sulfide species, bindheimite. The crystals are mostly doubly-terminated, and show classic bournonite form! Admittedly, "wolchite" isn't the most beautiful pseudomorph on the planet but its still an impressive piece for intellectual interest and for this old locality, an ancient iron mining area located near St Gertraud. I had only ever seen smears and broken bits of such crystals, and compared to them this is a kingly specimen. ex Harvard University Museum
MD-133773 - Bindheimite, Limonite - - Archived Garfield District, Mineral Co., Nevada, USA small cabinet, 7.2 x 4.4 x 2.9 cm.
7.2 x 4.4 x 2.9 cm. An old-time, specimen of layered, yellow bindheimite, brown limonite and quartz with an at-the-time-UNKNOWN green mineral in a vug on the front. Bindheimite is RARE from the famous Garfield District of Mineral County, Nevada, especially in such richness. Accompanying label identifies the green mineral as erinite. There is no such mineral as "erinite" (Erinite is a synonym of Chalcophyllite). It is now a discredited species name. Someone may find this of historic interest here on this old specimen! Ex. George Elling Collection.

7.9 x 5.1 x 2.2 cm. Bindheimite is a moderately uncommon stibiconite group secondary mineral occurring in the oxidized zones of antimony-bearing lead deposits. This is classic, old-time material from the St. Endellion area of Cornwall. An old paper label is glued to the back of the piece and also comes with a Warner & Grieger label, well-known California dealers and collectors, prior to World War II. Ex. John Grieger Collection.
