No, these emeralds cannot compete with Columbian ones, but they are from the classic European locality in Austria! The crystal, still embedded in the schist matrix, measure to over 2 cm. This specimen came out of the Richard Hauck collection. 6.7 x 5.3 x 1.0cm
A terminated aqua, super-gemmy at the tip with a fine, glassy termination, has partly grown around a schorl tourmaline crystal which is slanting across its side. 3.4 x 2.2 x 1.9cm
A BEAUTIFUL, gemmy, lustrous and pristine, doubly terminated aquamarine crystal thumbnail from Mt. Antero, Colorado. Classic material from this well-known locality. 1.6 x 0.4 x 0.4 cm
A gemmy, lustrous, water-clear, doubly terminated aquamarine crystal with an aesthetically attached bit of muscovite at the base from the Shigar Valley area of Pakistan. The aqua has very interesting, paralllel, internal growth refractions. One side face has a small contact, but it is in no way detracting from this beautiful gem crystal. 3.4 x 1.3 x 1.2 cm
In person, this GEM crystal of emerald is actually less blue and more the typical spectral green of a good Columbian emerald. It is terminated fully, and VERY gemmy with superb color in the top half. This crystal weighs 3.5 carats and is all gem. 1.0 x 0.6 x 0.6cm
A VERY good Vietnamese gem crystal of aquamarine, QUITE gemmy, weighing 6 grams. It has an excellent flat termination on top, and fine blue color! 4.7 x 0.8 x 0.8cm
A gem crystal of aquamarine, nicely terminated with pretty bevels, gemmy from top to bottom. This fine crystal weighs 3 grams. 1.9 x 1.1 x 0.8cm
GEMMY aquas to over 4 cm, all terminated - intergrown with a cluster of schorls, with all but one or two terminations on the schorls complete as well. In fact, this appears to be a floater cluster. Very dramatic combo! 8.0 x 7.1 x 6.2cm
A super-gemmy compound crystal of aquamarine, with two glassy terminations on top. 1.9 x 0.7 x 0.7cm
Prettier in person, with a deeper yellow-green tone, this is a large, naturally-etched crystal of heliodor from Minas Gerais. It is quite gemmy in the interior. This phenomenon occurs when the solution in the pocket where the crystal has grown becomes corrosive. 4.7 x 4.7 x 3.4cm
A rare old classic, this Aquamarine is absolutely water-clear and with a superb luster. It is far better in person than the pics can reveal. In fact, it is practically perfect. a real gem, showing interesting micro-growth patterns on all faces! 2.8 x 1.2 x 1.1 cm
From the new find in the Fall of 2004. This is a great rarity for Beryl. A few years ago, I remember seeing some very interesting, rare bi-color crystals of Beryl from Pakistan that were tabular with a pink core and a blue ring surrounding it. These new crystals are even more rare and interesting as they feature the same pink and blue bi-color, but with much more attractive prismatic crystals. This thumbnail size specimen hosts a few very attractive lustrous, sharp, very well formed, gem/gemmy, crystals with a pale pink color in the center and blue terminations on the ends sitting on a small amount of Albite matrix. This is a great rarity to find prismatic Morganite from any locality. The quality of this crystal group is exceptional and the fact that this is prismatic Morganite makes it highly desirable. 2.5 x 2.1 x 1.8cm
A STRIKING and DRAMATIC CABINET Pakistan combination piece. Gemmy and lustrous, etched aquamarine crystals to 9.0 cm rest amongst gemmy and lustrous spessartine garnets to 1.8 cm, lustrous schorl crystals, and lustrus muscovite books on albite matrix. The vertical aqua crystals and capping large spessartine and schorl really make this a beautiful piece. Extremely trivial damage overall, and complex aesthetics, make this a unique piece for the collector of alpine minerals from this part of the world. 12.7 x 10.0 x 5.5 cm
A super-gemmy, doubly-terminated aquamarine crystal, weighing 1.7 grams. Note the little crystals of schorl shooting through it! 3.4 x 0.4 x 0.4cm
Red beryls have become ridiculously hard to get at a reasonable price as the supply has drained from the market (and they were never cheap to start with). This is a fine 1.6-cm crystal, doubly-terminated, with intense red color. There is a little nick on the edge of one end, but it does not detract much and the price for the color quality is really low, in my opinion. Fine glassy luster on the faces and terminations. The rhyolite matrix can be trimmed to produce a specimen of any desired size. This piece is out of the Marion Stuart collection, and comes with one of her custom acrylic display label/stands. Her index card is with it, showing it to have been acquired 25 years ago at the Tucson Show. 8 x 5.8 x 4 cm
