2.9 x 2.3 x 1.4 cm. This is the "classic" combo from the Erongo locality: a thumbnail floater cluster of aquamarine (the largest xl is 2.6 cm) in association with slender black crystals of schorl tourmaline.
4.4 x 4.4 x 4.3 cm. A gorgeous pink, gemmy and lustrous, euhedral morganite crystal from the famous White Queen Mine of California! This beautiful and excellent crystal is from the personal collection of Norm Dawson, who owned and operated the White Queen from the 1948-1992. The crystal is contacted on the sides, base and back, but remains a very highly representative example of the species and famous locality. The crystal has classic, rich color and form. 123 grams.
7.0 x 5.4 x 5.2 cm. A SUPER and RARE combination specimen from the famous Stewart Mine. This really showy specimen features a CLASSIC, 1.5 cm, gemmy and lustrous, "hot" pink tourmaline embedded in the termination of one of two glassy, smoky quartz crystals. A super-gemmy and glassy, 2.3 cm, pink morganite is also nested in the bed of pearlescent cleavelandite blades. OLD and choice material from the 1960s or 70s. Ex. Chris Korpi San Diego collection.
4.9 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm. A SHOWY and EXCELLENT combination specimen from the much less well-known Green Cloud Mine of San Diego County! This aesthetic piece was JUST FOUND and consists of two, parallel-growth, gemmy and lustrous, goshenite (colorless) beryl partially wrapped in pearlescent muscovite books. This complete all-around beauty is very nearly pristine. According to the Jon Page label, he personally collected this fine specimen on April 21, 2008.
4.7 x 2.0 x 1.5 cm. The classic Erongo combo, here represented by a DOUBLY-TERMINATED aqua that is gemmy at one end, with the shiny black schorls embedded in one side of the crystal. The bottom termination is naturally-healed. Weighs 19 grams.
7.9 x 5.8 x 4.7 cm. A whopper pale blue-grey crystal of aquamarine, translucent to transparent, leans out from a cluster of very attractive large floral muscovite blades. This fatty is over 3 centimeters across the termination (and around the same height). Smaller crystals surround the burst of muscovite. All the aquas have light grey-blue color, and high luster. This assemblage apparently broke off naturally in the pocket at some point, as the broken-off ends of the lower crystals appear to be naturally-healed, with tiny micro-faces.
3.6 x 2.9 x 1.5 cm. This is the "classic" combo that all collectors know of from Erongo: aquamarine and schorl tourmaline. With this specimen from the collection of Marty Zinn, you have an aquamarine that is UNUSUALLY fine and gemmy for the locality - they typically are no competition for the more common Brazilian and Pakistani aquas, but this one is truly gemmy. And, it is doubly-terminated to boot! The crystal sits on a "base" made up of another aquamarine crystal, some feldspar and a schorl crystal.
5.9 x 4.8 x 3.4 cm. This is a pristine 2-cm crystal of pink morganite , with sharp faces and windows on the sides into the gemmy 100% clean interior. It is nestled in a bed of bladed muscovite. Ex. Marty Zinn Collection.
6.5 x 1.9 x 1.7 cm. This heliodor has superb lemon-yellow color and luster. The upper portion of the crystal is transparent and could be facetted. It is from a small pocket of remarkably fine crystals found last summer - most crystals from here are etched by natural solutions after formation and it is VERY rare to find a non-corroded crystal of such quality in these deposits.
7.2 x 2.3 x 2.0 cm. This crystal is complete, though shows some very minor surface etching of the flat faces.
4.5 x 1.9 x 1.5 cm. Glassy and gemmy with superb lemon yellow color, this heliodor also exhibits complexly beveled, pyramidal faces at the termination. It looks like a yellow bullet!
10.5 x 5.9 x 5.3 cm. Seldom do you see aquas from anywhere but Shigar in Pakistan with such lustre to them, and color at the same time. This is an intensely blue crystal that looks richly included by albite in the photo, but ACTUALLY you are looking right through 2-inches of almost totally transparent, gem-grade, mostly clean crystal to see the little albite rosettes on the BACK of the specimen, here. The crystal cluster is complete all around 360 degrees, without damage. Also, its a floater...meaning it broke off in the pocket at some point from the "mother rock" and solution healed over the break on the bottom, as well - so it’s doubly-terminated although the bottom termination is flat and dull compared to the top. Lastly, it’s a very interesting piece visually because of the curving "phantom" zones within both crystals caused by albite and schorl inclusions during growth of the top zone. The terminations are lustrous and window-clear. Weight is 385 grams.
12.5 x 3.4 x 2.5 cm. The photo conveys that this is gemmy and transparent throughout, so gemmy at over 1 inch thick that it is absolutely no barrier at all to reading small print of a book through the whole length of the crystal! This is nearly a floater, complete all around and terminated on both ends. The termination has some weird minor etching effects around its periphery, but 100% is not worn or damaged. Weight is 234 grams.
10.5 x 6 x 3 cm. This specimen is a floater, COMPLETE and terminated all around with all three of the quartzes even doubly-terminated. The bottom termination on the emerald is rough, but it’s a termination. The piece must have grown rapidly in pocket and then fallen from the matrix, while solution of emerald was still flowing through to cap off and continue growth on the once-broken termination at bottom. The top faces are sharp and lustrous, ingrown with the diagonally-attached quartzes (again, all doubly-terminated!). There are two characteristic Brumado-style magnesite crystals perched off the bottom-right hand face of the emerald. Also, there are a few 5mm, green, disc-shaped uvite crystals present (on the left , attached to the emerald; and another included inside the left tip of the upwards-pointing quartz crystal). It is not gemmy, but it is definitely green - and 4 inches tall. A very surprising, unique style for a Brumado beryl, striking because it is just so different from the norm. Weight is 123 grams.
5.7 x 1.8 x 1.6 cm. The color is great, the lustre is top quality, the clarity is like a gem, totally clean and clear...you just could not ask for more in a classic Russian heliodor of this size. From a freak gem pod encountered in the late 1980s, these are modern classics. Weight is 27 grams.
