One of those strange Erongo combos! This piece features sharp matte-green fluorite crystals perched smartly upon zoned goshenites! 5.8 x 5.6 x 4.0 cm
This is the best large piece we have seen in about a flat's worth of this material, which Charlie had stashed. It is one of those strange Erongo combos! This piece features sharp matte-green fluorite crystals perched smartly upon zoned goshenites to about an inch! 10.1 x 6.8 x 4.3 cm
This specimen is notable both for the doubly-terminated goshenite and also for the richness of the hyalite opal, which glows intensely in ultraviolet light and is quite rare from here. 4.0 x 3.8 x 3.6 cm
This dramatic "castle" of crystals is really interesting in its aesthetics, and although these are not gemmy per se, they have a good glassy lustre to them. 6.1 x 3.0 x 2.5 cm
A big fat crystal with intense beer-color, quite unusual, from a recent find in the Erongos like none ever seen before. These are REALLY intensely colored, and stand out in a case! The tips are gemmy and glassy, but the side edges almost always show matte surface, which may be due to a change in chemistry during growth. This is one of the largest single crystals from the find that Charlie was aware of. 5.5 x 2.4 x 1.8 cm
This is one of the largest single crystals from the find that Charlie was aware of,and probably one of the better clusters as well. 3.9 x 3.0 x 2.3 cm
Another unusual combo piece, this one particularly well-balanced and with a very gemmy goshenite, and large fluorite for the find as well! 4.3 x 3.5 x 2.2 cm
A strange, tapered crystal with a flat natural temrination atop! Strikingly different! The only one we have seen like it, from here. 3.2 x 0.7 x 0.5 cm
These are just plain cute, tooth-like little beryls all showing dramatic etching effects which make them look more like teeth than like aquamarine. All floaters and all terminated! 5 Thumbnails, from 1.5 x 1.1 x 1.0 to 1.0 x 0.7 x 0.6 cm
3.8 x 2.1 x 2.0 cm. Though it appears a bit rough in places, the anomalies you see on this fine aquamarine crystal are all natural: the modifications along the edge of the top termination, the euhedral contact in the side where another crystal grew against it, etc. It is even DOUBLY-TERMINATED, with a rougher termination on one end and a smooth, glassy one on top. Very gemmy through most of its length. Weighs 27 grams.
2.5 x 1.6 x 1.5 cm, 2.4 x 2.2 x 1.4 cm. Goshenites (colorless beryls) are actually amongst the rarest of the beryls. From the Erongo Mountains, you certainly see a ton of aquamarines for every goshenite that turns up. There are TWO fine goshenites, one intergrown with crystals of schorl tourmaline. BOTH are complete and doubly terminated! They have a fine glassy luster, and are complete, with no damage or contact.
6.1 x 2.7 x 2.2 cm. A tight grouping of aquamarine crystals with a silky luster, from Pakistan. The crystals are tightly intergrown, in some cases having grown around one another. The specimen has multiple terminations, all glassy, smooth, and undamaged. Even the little ones are all intact!
2.2 x 2.0 x 1.1 cm. An EXCELLENT thumbnail cluster of sharp, gemmy, intensely saturated emerald crystals from Bahia, Brazil. Classic and fine material from this famous locality.
11 x 9 x 6 cm. The green Erongo Fluorites have become famous in their own right, but to find them in such superb combination with the rare and desirable clear Goshenite Beryls, as well as Smoky Quartz, is a thing to behold. Both the Fluorites and Beryls range up to 2 cm, and the Smoky about 3 cm. The luster on the fluorites is silky and very good, as is the gemminess and zoned coloration. The Beryls have superb luster. Overall, this is an incredible combination piece - one of the best I have seen from this region. Ex. Charlie Key stock.
5.7 x 4.4 x 2 cm. This is a remarkable specimen. The pegmatitic matrix is covered by beautiful gemmy green Fluorites (up to 1 cm) laced with needles of Schorl. Emerging from one side is a lovely gemmy .9 cm Aquamarine crystal. Some of the trace minerals are fluorescent, as well. Really, this is quite an amazing combination piece. Ex. Charlie Key stock.
