5.7 x 3.5 x 2.7 cm. Material collected here in the 1960s-1970s is now hard to obtain, but is desirable for its beautiful purple strengites associated with other rare phosphate species. Here we have strengite balls to 4 mm associated with beraunite and likely other species as well. Excellent reference material for this now defunct locale. Ex. Harold Urish Collection.
7.5 x 5.2 x 1.6 cm. Dufrenite and beraunite are uncommon hydrated iron phosphates found as secondary minerals in bog iron deposits. A sculptural vug on both sides of the hematite ore is lined with a crust of light and dark olive green dufrenite. The small, patchy, rust-brown crusts on the lower part of the front are beraunite. This piece is from a very uncommon Alabama iron deposit. Old material. Ex. Robert Fender Collection.
5.1 x 4.3 x 2.3 cm. A reference example of microcrystallized purple strengite arranged in ball-like clusters, associated with fibrous white beraunite. Traded from well-known collector Peter Lyckberg in 1992. Ex. Harold Urish and Peter Lyckberg Collections.
3.4 x 3.3 x 2.8 cm. A very rare specimen of crystallized beraunite, colorful and showy. This is exceedingly rare material in such quality. These were found just once, I am told, in the 1960s. The specimen is from a pocket which produced probably the best of species for beraunite in the US. The kidwellite, a green mineral, is a nice association and was first found in Arkansas.
Lustrous, lavender spheres to 3 mm of the uncommon phosphate strengite are scattered in a vug atop massive hematite along with radial rosettes of beraunite from the Leveaniemi iron mine of Sweden. These specimens were collected in the mid-1980s and the mine is now closed. See the Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 20, No. 5, 1989. 5.5 x 4.5 x 3.8 cm
ex. Martin Zinn
