1.9 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm. Sharp, gemmy crystals of this extremely rare species, textbook in form, to just under 2mm poke out from protected pockets in this small matrix. The billietite are the orange crystals, easily seen and eye-visible. Becquerelite occurs on this piece as unusually gemmy, transparent yellow crystals underlying the Billietite. TYPE LOCALITY for both species.
6.2 x 5.8 x 3.1 cm. This large, rich specimen has three species for which this is the type locality: Masuyite (in red spherical aggregates), Fourmarierite (dark red/umber crystals underlying the Becquerelite and embedded in the matrix), and superb, large sprays of Becquerelite with crystals to a whopping 5mm. The matrix is uraninite.
6.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm. A rare large plate of well-crystallized Becquerelite crystals up to 1.5 mm on a bed of Uranophane. Some small rosettes of Studtite are dispersed upon the Becquerelite. Some small red hexagonal Fourmarierite crystals are associated as well as beige Rutherfordine sprays. Collected at least 50 years ago.
5 x 5 x 4 cm. A rich example of Uraninite covered with red hexagonal Fourmarierite crystals. The crystals are associated with good sized and well formed Becquerelite crystals. Shinkolobwe is the type locality for both of Fourmarierite and Becquerelite. Ex. Carnegie Museum Collection.
5 x 4.5 x 2.2 cm. Shinkolobwe is the type locality for Becquerelite where it forms lathe-like, yellow to orange, flat-terminated crystals. Here the mineral is associated with Uranophane in very tiny needles. Sometimes the crystals cluster together like shown in the photo, and they reach on this specimen 5 mm. This is a good reference piece for a locality that is closed since more than 50 years.
A rich and colorful specimen just LOADED with the extremely rare uranium species Becquerelite . Ex Bill Smith collection, and recently reconfirmed by Bill Pinch, to ensure accuracy. 6.2 x 5.3 x 4 cm
SHARP, GEMMY crystals of this extremely rare species, textbook in form, to just under 2mm poke out from protected pockets in this small matrix. The billietite are the orange crystals, easily seen and eye-visible in every facert. Becquerelite occurs on this piece as unusually gemmy, transparent yellow crystals underelaying the Billietite. Both species are simply high quality crystals, and stunningly beautiful under a loupe. Although a small piece overall, it is highly significant. TYPE LOCALITY for both species
This large, rich specimen has THREE species for which this is the type locality: Masuyite (in red spherical aggregates), Fourmarierite (dark red/umber crystals underlaying the BQ and embedded in the matrix), and superb, large sprays of Becquerelite with crystals to a whopping 5mm . The matrix is uraninite. Many are freestanding! In person, this is a beautiful specimen worthy of a display shelf, but its also an important combinatorial piece.
