This large specimen features a stunning 9 x 2.5 x 2 cm crystal on matrix...3.5 inches tall, rising straight up like a rocket! The crystal has the best deep color and gemminess that you can ask for, and is razor sharp and pristine. Unlike most barites from this locality which tend to lose the sharp terminations with size, this retains a perfectly sharp point, with lustre. Many gain matted faces, for some reason I have never heard explained. But again, this crystal has not only the sharp termination but retains the glassy faces even at the tip. It is a superior calibre, even alone; and the crystal is perched on contrasting calcite crystals as well, which adds to the aesthetics. Comes with custom base. I should also add that this piece, along with other similarly notable pieces from other famous collections, will be in the Tucson 2008 tribute case to the locality.

RARE LOCALITY PIECE! Very interesting cluster of intergrown blades (largest to .5 cm) that exhibit an excellent zoning from the middle to the edges. The one blade that has any real damage is hardly noticeable. With such good luster and fine zoning, this is an excellent specimen.

Classic specimen of tiny sharp Barite blades completely coating a blade of Stibnite. Very attractive, and not that easily obtained. In fact, I had never seen one before...

This is an amazing combination piece. Imagine, lustrous, razor-sharp Barites to .9 cm on edge, gemmy pink 1 mm Rhodos completely coating the top of the matrix, and the incredibly rare Gageite undeerlaying and poking out here and there (brown microcrystals).

Four intergrown blades of lustrous dark brown Barite that comprise a very aesthetic cluster. Add in a trace of silver, and this becomes an interesting a far more important thumb from what must surely be an old locality.

Who hasn’t wanted to trek to Elk Creek and crack open a nodule out of the Pierre Shale to find a world class Barite in yellow Calcite? And if I had, this is the razor-sharp chisel-point crystal that I would have loved to find. Absolutely water clear, it has a fantastic amber color and perfect, and I mean perfect, luster. The amazing thing is that the TERMINATION is perfet and not coated or etched as they usually are, making most crystals an "almost" in my book. Killer killer killer all the way for a gem crystal of any species, and a major addition to any thumbnail suite of gem xls, i'd say.

For my taste, this may be the most aesthetic pyromorphite group I have seen from Chaillac. Start with a barite matrix and small yellow fluorites on the top right, then go to terraced shelves with bright grass green acicular groups of pyromorphites arranged like hanging baskets. True, the crystals are tiny but the whole effect is amazing!

Both barite and Fluorite are famously known from these now-closed mines. However, gettin a great combination piece, where both are equally balanced and add to the whole, is very difficult. This specimen I find one of the most aesthetically appealing of all I have seen of this material, for the combination. I like the stark contrast of the forms of the barite and the fluorite, which Gamini emphasized in his painting. In person, the fluorites are more gemmy and transparent than they appear in either the photos or the painting. Price includes specimen, painting, and custom lucite base for display.

Another urban specimen from a developed part of town that is now covered by parking lots, thought to be the best crystal surviving! Complete and actually quite good on its own merits

SIMPLY OUTSTANDING specimen of the BEST quality! The pics say it all...geezus, its gemmy, sharp, and BEAUTIFUL. It is pristine except for a tiny, teeny , trivial shallow ding. It displays magnificently. all in all, this is one of the finest mineral specimens gram per gram i have ever seen! no, it is not cheap, i admit. but it IS very, very good.
