Mineral Specimens with Autunite

This is a large and beautiful example of the classic material from Washington, circa the 1950s-1960s. It is an extremely large specimen also, to have survived. Remarkably, it is pristine on that large display face!!! (perhaps there are just a few tiny bruises of no import).IT IS MUCH MORE VIBRANT AND JUST PLAIN BETTER IN PERSON! This is a significant US mineral specimen and , for the size and elegance, a significant example of the species. And I think it is priced cheaply, myself. This comes out of a small midwestern museum collection

This is a large and beautiful example of the classic material from Washington, circa the 1950s-1960s. It is an extremely elegant and large specimen. Remarkably, it is nearly pristine (just a few tiny bruises of no import) and furthermore is completely crystallized around the back (where flat crystals seem to have grown upon a contact face where the piece sheared off from its host rock, essentially making it a floater. BETTER IN PERSON! This is a significant US mineral specimen and , for the size and elegance, a significant example of the species. And I think it is priced cheaply, myself.

A VERY striking, colorful, large specimen of gorgeous yellow autunites! the hue on these is more yellow than green, unlike autunite from other localities. I am told this is an exceptional piece for the locality.
An extremely rare uranium phosphate, with crystals completely covering a knoll of matrix (partly autunite). This is very rich and colorful, and I believe is quite good for the locality. I have seen only a few sabugalites from Brazil and France before, of which this is the richest I have personally handled.
6.7 x 4.2 x 3.8 cm. An SUPERB and super-rich specimen of fan-like clusters of lustrous, bladed yellow-green autunite from the famous Daybreak Mine of Washington. These specimens were mined in the 1960s. The autunite bundles very nearly cover the sturdy, mounded matrix on this exceptional piece. This specimen is of the highest quality and is essentially pristine. This is the CLASSIC US mineral and locality for a radioactive, AND the specimen happens to be extremely competitive in aesthetics and quality as well. Ex. George Elling Collection.
4.1 x 2.9 x 1.7 cm. Vivid greenish-yellow tabular crystals and books of meta-autunite BLANKET the bit of matrix on this other-worldly specimen from the famous Assuncao Mine of Portugal. An excellent and highly representative specimen of the species and locality. FABULOUS yellow-green fluorescence.
4.5 x 3.0 1.7 cm. A STRIKING and AESTHETIC specimen of rosettes and books of lustrous, lemon-yellow autunite blades from well-known Sao Pedro Claim, Malacacheta, Brazil. An outstanding example of this species from this locality. Ex. Elling collection. SPECTACULAR lemon-yellow fluorescence.
11.5 x 7.9 x 4.3 cm. This is a large and beautiful example of the classic autunite from Washington, circa the 1950s-1960s.
3.5 x 3.2 x 2.2 cm. An excellent and super-rich specimen of fan-like clusters of lustrous, bladed yellow-green autunite from the famous Daybreak Mine of Washington. These specimens were mined in the 1960s. The autunite bundles comprise the entire piece.
From the Carlton Davis collection, a very fine, colorful miniature of this classic uranium species from what is certainly the most important locality in the US for the species. These specimens with large radial crystal clusters came out decades ago, generally prior to the 1960s. To get a fine miniature of this size with no damage is hard these days. It is , also, complete all around. HIGHLY FLUORESCENT and MUCH BRIGHTER COLOR IN PERSON! 3 x 2.5 x 2 cm
2.2 x 1.8 x 1.2 cm. Autunite is an interesting and actually quite pretty rare uranium mineral (hydrated calcium uranyl phosphate) with formula: Ca(UO2)2(PO4)2•10-12H2O. It is classic from this mine in Washington state. The crystals form these pretty bright yellow-green "books" or sheaves.
11.3 x 9.3 x 2.0 cm. Bright, lustrous, canary-yellow autunite blades are festooned on this striking cabinet plate from a famous French locality - the Margnac Mine, Haute-Vienne. Classic material. Ex. R.C. Webster and Harvard Collections. Super fluorescence.
A rich specimen of solid autunite, colored a bright green-yellow. The crystals are of the form of thick wheatsheaves representative of the best specimens from this classic mine, and not found in this quality for decades. This piece, in fact, is a proven oldtimer as it has a label from New York dealer Hugh Ford that is probably from around the mid-1900's. Note the value put on it by this respected old dealer, which was a lot of money for the time and surely a sign of his opinion that it is a remarkable large specimen! Commensurate with its age, it has a bit of damage in the form of minute yellow spots on the otherwise yellow-green crystals (plus some contact at the base), and while this affects the price (which otherwise would be $2000-plus), it does not detract visually very much. The piece can be stood vertically as I prefer (top row) with wheatsheaves sticking up, or horizontally as shown in the bottom row. 6.5 x 5.5 x 4 cm
8.0 x 3.6 x 2.9 cm. A superb and super-rich specimen of fan-like clusters of lustrous, bladed yellow-green autunite from the Daybreak Mine of Washington. These specimens were mined in the 1960s. The autunite bundles cover the entire exceptional and sturdy specimen, which is solid autunite. This specimen is of the highest quality and is nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of contacting on one end. This is the classic US mineral and locality for a radioactive. Ex. Mullane Collection and comes with a 1960s or early 70s vintage label. The Mullanes retired to Oregon and thus lived not far from the mine here in Washington during its heyday.
7.0 x 5.7 x 2.6 cm. Day-glow, yelllow-green autunite plates richly cover the top and fan-like clusters of yellow-green autunite are visible on the sides of this sturdy, showy, sandwich-like specimen from the Daybreak Mine of Washington. These specimens were mined in the 1960s. This is the classic US mineral and locality for a radioactive. Ex. Charles Hansen Collection.
