9.9 x 8.9 x 2.9 cm. A beautiful piece from the classic Ojuela locality. Here you (on the limonite matrix that is so common from here) a field of sprays of gorgeous blue-green crystals of acicular aurichalcite, isolated rather than massed together so that they really stand out on the matrix.
7.0 x 5.2 x 2.8 cm. An exceptionally fine example of a rarity from Kelly: pure aurichalcite in rich velvety, botryoidal crust. This is a beautiful piece, really deep in color and classic for the locale, but rare in specimens of this size and quality. Ex. Phil Scalisi collection.
6.9 x 4.4 x 4.3 cm. Pretty, velvety balls of blue-green aurichalcite fill the recesses of this limonitic matrix. This is an old specimen from the classic Ojuela locality in Mexico. Came with an old Burminco label. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
8.0 x 5.4 x 4.2 cm. The recesses in this limonitic matrix are filled on every side of the specimen with velvety, acicular microcrystals of beautiful blue-green aurichalcite. Classic, old material from the 1970s. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
The highly sought-after combination from the world-famous Kelly Mine in New Mexico. Lustrous light blue smithsonite on top of rich aurichalcite gives these specimens a beauty all their own. No longer available from the mine, these are getting harder and harder to find. This one is darned near unique for the balance and aesthetics of the association! 3.6 x 2.6 x 1.6 cm
15.5 x 11.8 x 7.8 cm. This is a huge specimen for what it is. You sometimes see little pockets of this pretty mineral, but this pocket measures 13 cm in length. It is lined with calcite that is both on and included by robin’s-egg blue aurichalcite. Matrix is the typical rust-colored limonite, which makes for a pretty contrast here. From mining in the 1970s. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
This is an incredibly huge and rich specimen for what it is. You sometimes see little pockets of this pretty mineral, but this pocket measures 15 cm by 13 cm. It is lined with robin’s-egg blue aurichalcite crystals. Matrix is the typical rust-colored limonite, which makes for a pretty contrast here. From mining in the 1970s. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
A GORGEOUS and unusually LARGE example of this classic material from the Kelly! The piece is bright and glistening (now that it is properly cleaned!), all around, and with only trivial damage. It is nearly pristine, in fact. One side is rich with calcite, strating white at the top and grading to bluish on the center and edges where more hevily included. The reverse side shows rich aurichalcite aplenty, with scattered calcite crystals in crevasses that tend to be more richly included than those on the front side. A very rare find, in this quality and size range! 13 x 8 x 6 cm
9.9 x 9.1 x 3.4 cm. A lovely specimen of velvety acicular aurichalcite with rosasite, on a limonite matrix. The tiny needle-like crystals richly carpet the matrix in beautiful blue-green color, and cover the little rosasite balls. Dramatic and rich, old classic. Ex. Consie Prince Collection.
3.8 x 2.6 x 2.0 cm. This is an original 79 Mine specimen, not from the more recent mining that has gone on there, producing a modest number of specimens. Here you see beautiful blue-green tufts of velvety, acicular crystals of aurichalcite, on a contrasting matrix. Ex. Jaime Bird Collection.
4.7 x 3.6 x 3.2 cm. Powder-blue spherical aggregates of light blue aurichalcite, mixed with stark white bladed calcite crystals. Ex. Harold Urish Collection.
8.2 x 6.3 x 3.9 cm. A beautiful, rich specimen with long aurichalcite needles spraying out within a protected pocket lined by bladed calcite crystals. This is a large, rich, attractive piece with excellent color and coverage. From the 400 level. Ex. Harold Urish Collection.
10.0 x 4.3 x 4.0 cm. A striking new find from the Mina Ojuela of Mexico. Vivid, powder-blue aurichalcite, either as free-standing, lustrous fibrous/needle clusters or included in transparent, water-clear calcite rhombs, totally line the vug in the sturdy gossan matrix.
5.0 x 4.5 x 1.8 cm. A classic, beautiful combination specimen from the Kelly Mine of New Mexico. Tiny, sparkly and gemmy, "rice-grain" smithsonite crystals are peppered on the banded, botryoidal, powder-blue aurichalcite that covers the gossan matrix crust. A really neat bonus feature on the backside are the rice-grain smithsonite crystals embedded in the starkly contrasting gossan matrix. Older material, 1960s or early 1970s material. Ex. Mullane Collection.
15.4 x 11.4 x 4.8 cm. A remarkable and rare large cabinet combination specimen from the Copper Queen Mine at Bisbee. Both sides of the matrix are covered with powder-blue to pastel-green aurichalcite. The front is richly sprinkled with clusters of glassy, colorless calcite rhombs, some of which are included with aurichalcite. This is a very uncommon association specimen from this classic locale and is almost certainly old-time material, dating to prior to World War I. Ex. Mike Cunningham and Dennis Mullane Collections.
