4.9 x 4.3 x 3.9 cm. A cluster of lustrous and large andradite garnets (this variety is sometimes called "melanite") from Mexico. The garnets measure up to 2.2 cm across. There is contact on the back and sides but the specimen presents an impressive display face.
SHARP specimen with really lustrous crystals of this rare species, especially a 2-cm-long doubly-terminated crystal right in the front-left. That one is partially covered with the andradite garnet that makes up the matrix as well 3.3 x 3.1 x 2.2 cm
A stunning miniature, of this classic combination of species for Wessels. Few are found with such a wonderful and aesthetic combination of the garnet coating on hematite! this is essentially one large, elongated crystal of hematite, complete all around save for small contacts near the base. 4.2 x 2.8 x 2.4 cm
This Photo was Mindat.org Photo of the Day - 15th Mar 2008
8.6 x 5.7 x 3 cm. Choice example of the famous and highly desired Gaudefroyite/Andradite/Baryte combinations from Black Rock Mine. The Gaudefroyites are superbly lustrous, and the largest of the crystals is a full 1.2 cm long. The deep-red Andradites provide a beautiful contrast, as do the delicate Barytes, which are along the top and back.
3.7 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm. Outstanding Hematite crystal surrounded by a ring of gemmy red Andradites that encircle the base of the Hematite along the matrix. The Hematite, which has a brilliant luster, is 2.3 cm long. The lower half exhibits an unusual and striking stepped growth, while the crystal faces in the upper half are mirror brilliant. The crystal has a superb, almost chisel-like, termination.
4.6 x 3.8 x 1.2 cm. Excellent razor-sharp plate of deep red Andradites, the largest of which is nearly 1 cm across. The luster is almost metallic, and there are very few dings on the crystals.
6.5 x 5.4 x 3.2 cm. These specimens are some of the most classic and easily recognizable Andradites from any locality. They have a nearly metallic sheen on the outside of the dodecahedral crystals with a golden-green or greenish-gold color inside. A great Arizona classic. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
2.2 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm. Very uncommon on the market, a specimen of andradite garnet from Greece, out of the collection of Clyde Hardin. Serifos Island is a classic locality, but you do not see many specimens around from it - there were never all that many at any one point. Under good light, you can see that these crystals (to half a centimeter) are a transparent coffee color.
Another stunning miniature, of this classic combination of species for Wessels. Few are found with such a wonderful and aesthetic combination of the garnet coating on hematite! The hematite here is 2.7 cm and is sharply twinned, as you can see from the reflections . More andradite could be picked off, as the owner wishes, to expose more hematite along the righthand edge, but I like the coating the way it is covering all the crystal but the shockingly fine twin planes facing out.. 4.2 x 3.4 x 2.1 cm
A dramatic and very large single hausmannite crystal showing intricate stepped growth on all faces, that measures 4 cm on edge, is the visual center here. It is an impressive specimen made pretty by the accenting garnet along the sides. In person, it can be displayed either vertically as shown, or horizontally, to equal effect . I should add that this style of hausmannite rarely has good lustre but we do no thave that problem here....it has lot sof sparkle for a black mineral! 5.5 x 4.2 x 3.6 cm
An elegant specimen with a strangely flattened, tapering, 2.5-cm hematite crystal popping up in the middle of the matrix, coated on one side completely by andradite garnet. 6.4 x 4.5 x 4.1 cm
Andradite garnet here completely coats on all sides, like a drape, the underlaying hematite crystal which has perfect crystallography and now looks like a sparkling red hematite more than anything! That crystal is 2.7 cm tall. Pristine and complete, this is a most unusual display specimen! 4.8 x 4.5 x 3.8 cm
Sharp, lustrous,jet-black hausmannite crystals to 1.5 cm perched on a stunningly contrasting matrix of garnet! Beautiful, rich specimen that is both significant for the species and displays phenomenally. 6.6 x 4.1 x 3.7 cm
We had only two such specimens in the whole collection of thousands of pieces, of these strange cast pseudomorphs of minutely crystallized, sparkling, andradite garnet that have replaced twinned rhodochrosite crystals. I had only ever seen 2 others , before. These look just like the famous pseudo-triangular crystals one saw from Mt St Hilaire in Quebec, in the 1980s. But, made of garnet! This one is shaped like a shield, very tapered, with the interior completely lined with crystals of gaudefroyite that stick out to one side. 5.6 x 2.1 x 1.3 cm

This one is shaped like a 3-dimensional map where there are folds up and down to illustrate heights. It is very aesthetic, and more impressive in person! It is complete all around and made up of garnet on the front display, with the backside completely lined with crystals of gaudefroyite and a few minor ettringites. There is a coating on the backside, but the gaude's sticking out to the sides are, luckily, clean and lustrous, and serve to nicely accent the flanks of the rhodo crystals. 5.5 x 5.3 x 1.7 cm
